This car is an easy restore and excellent investment. It will need tires, repainting, oiling of hinges, etc., eventually a new windshield (recently bb'd by a drive by miscreant but while the pellet struck low and causes no vision problems eventually you will want to replace it. Frame solid, rust almost non-existent with a few bubbles under the paint, mostly along the rockers. Plan on a brake shoe replacement from so long sitting and a new battery. Probably a muffler system too and maybe a new set of keys. But we're going thru piles of keys from former cars over the years and a good chance we'll find the right ones. Mostly plan on tinkering and elbow grease; few parts other then those mentioned and nothing of major expense that we can see or anticipate. Why pay a 'restorer' to send his kids to college when you and a friend or two can do the work yourself in your own garage. Even if you put $2,000 in it including paint, windshield, etc., put your pencil to paper look at the value you'll have compared to the resale value! At least $10,000+ on the current market. Car is complete except one wheel cover is missing. Has original 12-volt electric from the factory. Standard a/m radio and heating. No major dings or scratches. Windows rull up and down easily. Interior shows no major wear. Glass has standard factory tints. Alll lguages worked fine when last driven. No accidents. The week before I purchased it it had been driven in cross country from the west coast area U.S. to Michigan where it is now. Last started when driven into storage. Radiator kept full with anti-freeze and no leaking. Keep that in mind when you restart her. There is a proper way to do that which is safe and easy, costs about $10 and takes about 3-4 days. But the payback is a sound engine with no damage or smoking. Have used this proceedure many times on cars, trucks, farm tractors and other infrequently used motors over the last 40+ years and it has never once failed. Selling low because of failing eyesight to the point where I don't drive regular anymore except on very bright days and then only in familiar areas. Tempus Fugit. Being sold as-is, where-is with no warranties but confidence that what I am telling you here about his car is how it is. Sale is final. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required received via USPS money order within five days of sale. Balance also by USPS money order to be forwarded within 10 days of sale and before car is removed. You can ask any additional questions which will receive a quick reply. Recommend and invite you to come and examine the car personally or send your own mechanic or friend in the area to look the car over for you including any additional pictures The CV is currently in a locked storage area with a low monthly rental. We will cover the storage rate for the balance of the month (12th day) after which you can remove the car or leave it there at the same low rate while you make your hauling arrangements. Comes with a clear Michigan title. Buyer will be responsible for all loading/hauling expenses and any insurances you might want. . We will check & confirm the mileage, vehicle & title numbers and whether we have the right keys for ignition, doors and glove compartment and advise accordingly or just try to change the listing. Thanks

Mulally to stay at Ford through end of 2014 at least
Fri, 06 Dec 2013Alan Mulally isn't going anywhere... at least not just yet. The CEO who helped turn around Ford Motor Company has been linked to the top job at tech behemoth Microsoft, leading to a flurry of rumors about potential successors. Those rumors, though, may have just been put to rest - at least for a little while.
Speaking to Edsel Ford II (great-grandson of company founder Henry Ford) at the unveiling of the new Mustang, Automotive News Europe confirmed that Mulally would stick around until the end of next year. "Alan is staying through the end of 2014 and that's all I know," said Ford. "Frankly, he has told us that his plan is to stay with Ford through the end of 2014."
Presuming that Edsel Ford is correct and that Microsoft isn't so hot on Mulally that it saves the position for him, it seems increasingly likely that the 68-year-old exec is more interested in continuing to work in Dearborn rather than in Redmond.
Ford profits soar as problems mount
Mon, 19 Aug 2013Ford is doing well. It can't make enough examples of its new Fusion, it can barely make enough of the aging F-150, it's getting good brand rankings, people like its turnaround story, it's selling oodles of product and its quarterly profit numbers end in the word "billion." As other high-flying examples have demonstrated over the past few years, though, big numbers can come with problems that aren't exactly small.
Automotive News has published a good "nutshell" report of Ford's progress and problems. The Dearborn automaker's optimistic "general label rule" determination of gas mileage for the C-Max Hybrid has led to lawsuits, hybrid software updates, a downward revision of C-Max fuel economy and millions in rebates. AN notes the C-Max was the "worst-scoring model in this year's J.D. Power Initial Quality Study," but Ford will probably be happy that it managed not to be mentioned further in the study's results after last year's mediocre showing. Its MyTouch and SYNC systems, the bugbears sabotaging Ford's J.D. Power results, have also led to lawsuits, software updates, more software updates and a center console rethink. On top of that, the 1.6-liter EcoBoost in the 2013 Ford Escape that Ford called a "hero" was soon catching fire for three different reasons. And let's not even get into the troubled launch of the Lincoln MKZ.
The Automotive News piece notes that industry observers have been surprised at Ford's stumbles because everything has been looking so good. Nevertheless, there is still the issue of those billions in profits - the company is doing plenty of things, plural, right. Ford says it is tackling its problems, hiring engineers and instituting new quality control processes as part of its effort to find solutions. The test will be to see if in a year from now we begin the discussion of these issues with "Remember when Ford...", or "Problems continue at The Blue Oval."
Ford shutters Genk assembly plant in Belgium
Tue, Dec 23 2014Ford has become the latest automaker to close one of its European assembly plants. The facility in question is located in the Belgian city of Genk and has been in operation since the early '60s when it started building the Taunus, Ford's first mass-produced, front-drive model. As part of the plan first announced over two years ago, the Genk Body & Assembly Plant is now closing its doors after half a century in the business and over fourteen million vehicles built. Although the plant itself employed some 5,000 workers, once you take into account the suppliers built up around the plant, the overall impact on employment in the area edges closer to 12,000. Genk Body & Assembly had until recently been tasked with producing the Mondeo sedan (which in its current iteration we know as the Fusion) as well as the S-Max and Galaxy minivans. Production of the Mondeo shifted in 2013 to the company's plant in Valencia, Spain, which also handles the Kuga crossover and Transit Connect cargo van, and will soon take over the minivans from Genk as well. The move follows a similar decision undertaken by General Motors to close the Opelwerk plant in Bochum, Germany. It also reflects a scaling down of automobile production in Belgium specifically: although Audi still manufacturers in Brussels and and Volvo in Ghent, Opel closed its plant in Antwerp in 2000 and Renault ceased production in Vilvoorde back in '97. However Ford still maintains its famous proving ground half an hour to the north in Lommel, Belgium.
