SELLER REMARKS |
![]() |
The first Ford Broncos pretty much created the modern SUV craze. There were others before the Bronco, but few combined utility, rugged good looks, and go-anywhere abilities as well as the Ford. This 1970 Bronco is an excellent example of the breed, and it's set up properly with a lot of upgrades that make it a pleasure to drive, on-road or off.
Part of the Bronco's appeal is most definitely the look. Not too big, not too small, but just right to be comfortable yet maneuverable. Then there's the classic upright profile that's instantly identifiable from a mile away. Of course, this one has been augmented and features wide fender flares to cover the oversized BFGoodrich rubber and that roll bar has gone from safety feature to styling statement in this truck's case. The paint job is right for the application, not so nice that you'll be afraid to use it as intended and it does show a few bumps and bruises that show it has definitely been exercised properly. The purple finish is not for everyone, but it looks right at home on the squared-off Bronco and the work was well done a few years ago. These trucks were notorious for rusting in the most demonic ways possible, but this one appears to have been clean from the get-go and today exhibits no obvious signs of trouble, then or now. It's not ornate or showy, but it's definitely functional and fun. It also has the factory hard top if the new owner desires.
The interior has been tastefully modified without diminishing any of the truck's legendary functionality. Spray-in bedliner material protects the floors, there are simple door panels, and a steel dash are still the primary elements, but upgrades like the color-matched buckets, the center console, and under-dash A/C add a whole new dimension. There's also a Kenwood AM/FM/CD stereo system, those beefy roll bars, and a matching back seat, so you can take the party with you wherever you go. This truck also includes a snug-fitting top and tonneau cover, so there's always the option of open-air motoring, plus a set of steel doors and hardtop are also available.
Early Broncos were saddled with a slight inline-six, but this one is powered by a thumping 302 cubic inch HO crate motor, which was installed about 3000 miles ago. Clearly upgraded from its stock configuration, it includes goodies like an Edelbrock carb and intake, a serpentine belt drive system for the accessories, and an upgraded MSD ignition that will probably even fire underwater. Dressed up with chrome accents and Ford Racing valve covers, the engine bay has a functional look that's only a little flashy, and power steering makes it easy to wheel around the underbrush. Underneath, it's fully equipped with a C4 3-speed automatic transmission, 2-speed transfer case, and a modest lift kit that allows the use of giant 33x12.5x15 BFGoodrich Mud Terrain tires that look like they could climb a wall.
If you're looking for a trail-ready early Bronco, this one is ready to roll and built for fun. You can leave the show fields to the other guys and just get busy having fun in the dirt thanks to this one's awesome build. Call today!

The difference between Tesla charging and non-Tesla charging. Electrify America; Tesla Tesla's advantage has long been its charging technology and Supercharger network. Now, more and more automakers are switching to Tesla's charging tech. But there are a few things non-Tesla drivers need to know about charging at a Tesla station. A lot has hit the news cycle in recent months with regard to electric car drivers and where they can and can't plug in. The key factor in all of that? Whether automakers switched to Tesla's charging standard. More car companies are shifting to Tesla's charging tech in the hopes of boosting their customers' confidence in going electric. Here's what it boils down to: If you currently drive a Tesla, you can keep charging at Tesla charging locations, which use the company's North American Charging Standard (NACS), which has long served it well. The chargers are thinner, more lightweight and easier to wrangle than other brands. If you currently drive a non-Tesla EV, you have to charge at a non-Tesla charging station like that of Electrify America or EVgo — which use the Combined Charging System (CCS) — unless you stumble upon a Tesla charger already equipped with the Magic Dock adapter. For years, CCS tech dominated EVs from everyone but Tesla. Starting next year, if you drive a non-Tesla EV (from the automakers that have announced they'll make the switch), you'll be able to charge at all Supercharger locations with an adapter. And by 2025, EVs from some automakers won't even need an adaptor. Here's how to charge up, depending on which EV you have: Ford 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Tim Levin/Insider Ford was the earliest traditional automaker to team up with Tesla for its charging tech. Current Ford EV owners — those driving a Ford electric vehicle already fitted with a CCS port — will be able to use a Tesla-developed adapter to access Tesla Superchargers starting in the spring. That means that, if you own a Mustang Mach-E or Ford F-150 Lightning, you will need the adapter in order to use a Tesla station come 2024. But Ford will equip its future EVs with the NACS port starting in 2025 — eliminating the need for any adapter. Owners of new Ford EVs will be able to pull into a Supercharger station and juice up, no problem. General Motors Cadillac Lyriq. Cadillac GM will also allow its EV drivers to plug into Tesla stations.

Ford is ending Australian production after 90 years in 2016, and with it may go perhaps the most iconic vehicles in its auto market - the ute. Car-based pickup trucks like the Ford Ranchero and Chevrolet El Camino were always more of a curiosity than a true market force here, but in Australia, they have long proven hugely popular.
As the legend goes, Ford invented the niche after a farmer's wife had asked Ford Australia's managing director for a more utilitarian car. Her request was simple: "My husband and I can't afford a car and a truck but we need a car to go to church on Sunday and a truck to take the pigs to market on Monday. Can you help?"
Ford's design team came up with a two-passenger, enclosed, steel coupe body with glass windows and a steel-paneled, wooden-frame load area in the rear. The sides of the bed were blended into the body to make it look more unified, and to keep costs down, the front end and interior were based on the Ford Model 40 five-window coupe. Power came from a V8 with shifting chores handled by a three-speed manual. Within a year, the new vehicle was ready, and production began in 1934. Lead designer Lewis Bandt christened it the coupe-utility.

What would Batman drive for his weekly trips to Home Depot for the bits and pieces needed to keep his lair deep below Wayne Manor in tip-top condition? Certainly not the Batmobile - there's no way a 4x8 sheet of plywood will fit between the wheel wells, not to mention the fact that jet turbine engines have an unfortunate tendency to set trailers on fire when towing...
No, what Batman needs is a pickup truck. The boys from Ford teamed up with Galpin Auto Sports to build just such a machine, and it has just debuted at Comic Con. Designed by Jared Barris, grandson of the legendary kustomizer George Barris, the 2012 F-150 pickup you see here, dubbed Crime Fighter, is painted Tuxedo Black with Ferrari Red highlights and is affixed with fins on each side of the truck bed. It's nothing if not unique.
Well, it's at least unique for now. According to Ford, Galpin in Southern California is willing to take orders for customers looking to don a cape and hit the town for a night of crime-fighting action. Or trips to Home Depot. Check out our high-res image gallery and then scroll down for the official description from Ford. We're waiting for details such as pricing and build time from Ford, and we'll update this post if and when we hear back.
