Bought this truck about 5 years ago, a complete basket case. Wiring harness was completely, burnt, spliced, hacked, etc., throttle body and intake was completely shot, the dash guages and components were disconnected, no way of telling mileage, water temp, pressures, etc. Bought it to do a frame off restoration with my son, who was 13 at the time. Took a couple of years and about $16,000, but made a nice truck for him to drive to high school. He's graduated now and going off to college, so we are going to sell this truck and get him something smaller and more economical.

We completely disassembled the truck, had the engine and transmission professionally rebuilt, since the engine bay was in such bad shape we stripped all the wiring/electronics/throttle body and went with a new painless wire harness and Holley 600 cfm carbuerator, stripped, pressure washed and re-painted the frame, installed a 6" skyjacker suspension lift, new wheels and tires, new paint, billet grill, KC off-road lights on front brush guard, new carpet and new Auto Meter mechanical guages.

  • 35" x 12.5" Mickey Thompson Baja Claw Radial tires

Fuel System:

  • New fuel tank
  • new pickup pump/sending unit in tank
  • new fuel pump on frame rail with on/off switch in cab
  • new fuel pressure regulator
  • new fuel lines
  • new fuel filter

This truck is a steal for the minimum asking price. There is only 15,000 miles since the rebuild, most parts on this truck are new. There are a few issues that need to be addressed: The trim around the windshield is missing, the A/C is not hooked up, reverse lights do not work, some interior trim pieces are missing, small dent in drivers door, some knicks and scratches here and there, ignition switch on steering column is loose (new summit racing steering column), small items that were set aside when my son started driving and were forgot about. This truck just needs a good cleaning and some TLC. I must apologize for my son, we have been getting alot of rain and we live on a dirt road, that somewhat explains the dirty engine bay and undercarraige. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Truck is being sold as is, where is, with no warranties expressed or implied.

Junkyard Gem: 1973 Mercury Marquis Brougham 4-Door Pillared Hardtop

Tue, Nov 7 2023

Ford's Mercury Division debuted the Marquis in the 1967 model year, as a sporty coupe based on a stretched Ford LTD chassis. When the LTD got an update for 1969, so did the Marquis, and production of that generation of the top-of-the-line Mercury continued through 1978 (the Grand Marquis hit streets the following year). The 1969-1978 Marquis was a big, imposing land yacht, and the Brougham version came absolutely loaded with affordable luxury. Today's Junkyard Gem is a Marquis Brougham from the first year of the Malaise Era, found in a Phoenix self-service car graveyard recently. This car appears to have spent decades sitting outdoors in one of the harshest climates in the country, and so it's in rough shape. The vinyl top received the full thermonuclear treatment and is mostly obliterated by now. The interior got thoroughly cooked as well. Still, its original opulence shines through if you use some imagination. What hurts is that this car was packed with most of the good options, including the mighty 460-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 engine with four-barrel carburetor. The price for the 460 was just $76 in this car, or around $548 in today's money. The base engine was a 429 (7.0-liter). Power numbers were way down for 1973 when compared to a couple of years earlier, partly as the result of tightening emissions standards but mostly due to the switch from gross to net power ratings that began midway during 1971 and was completed by the end of 1972. This engine was rated at 202 horsepower and 330 pound-feet. The only transmission available was a three-speed automatic. We can assume that the original buyer of this car and its single-digit fuel economy had a rough time when the OPEC oil embargo hit in the fall of 1973. Believe it or not, air conditioning was not standard equipment on the '73 Marquis Brougham (you had to move up to a Lincoln for that). This one even has the automatic temperature control feature, adding a total of $508 to the cost of this car (about $3,661 in 2023 dollars). That AM/FM/8-track radio—or, in fact, any radio—was an extra-cost option as well, with a price tag of $363 ($2,616 after inflation). The MSRP for the 1973 Marquis Brougham sedan (known as a "pillared hardtop" thanks to the frameless window glass) was $5,072, which comes to $36,555 in today's dollars. Obviously, its out-the-door cost would have been much higher with all the options.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
