1987 Bronco Sas 39" Irok Turbo Diesel Locked Axles Ready For Off Road on 2040-cars
Madera, California, United States
This is a fun vehicle to drive. It goes down the road straight and runs good. The diesel engine had good power due to the Banks Turbo. This is toy will all the good parts for off road. The Full Spool axles cause the rear tires to scuff as you turn on pavement, but when this truck is in the dirt, it is a very capable, full traction monster. Drive train: -Engine is a 6.9 Ford Diesel with an aftermarket full Banks Turbo kit. Unknown mileage (aftermarket spedo says 4500 miles). It may have been rebuilt by owner in the past, but I cannot confirm that. It does have ARP head studs visible. New starter installed a month ago. It runs great and starts right up. -Transmission is a ZF 5 speed with a granny low. The transmission is model S42 diesel version. -Transfer Case is NP 205 -Hydraulic Clutch conversion
Front Axle: -High Pinion Dana 44 Solid Axle swap (SAS) -Factory Leaf Spring axle -4.56 Gears with Full Spool -CTM u-joints -Chromalloy axles (I was told by previous owner) -Flat top Driver knuckle -Warn Premium locking hubs -Dual Shocks, unknown brand -Dual Steering stabilizers -SS braided brake lines -HD Drive shaft, balanced -New Brake pads -Unknown height of lift on front leaf springs.
Rear Axle: -31 Spline big bearing 9” -4.56 gears with full Spool -U-joint protection skid cover on front of 9” to protect underside of drive line u-joint -RS9000 Rancho shocks -Sway bar -No e-brake
cables. The previous owner removed all e-brake cables
Wheels and tires: -Weld 15x10 HD wheels with Flush mount valve stems -39.5 IROK Super Swamper tires. These tires have seen trail use and are in fair condition. No cracking, but they have less than half of the tread left. The axles are full spool, so the tires rub when turning on pavement
Exterior: -HD Front bumper with 6” dual element lights, D ring for pulling point -Front Receiver hitch mounted under the bumper -Mounting location for winch on Front bumper -Rear Receiver hitch -5 roof mounted lights (not currently wired up, but was previously) -Lights on the A pillar, rotatable on driver and passenger sides -Sliding rear windows on hard top -Rear spare tire carrier in good condition -Minor body damage to driver’s rear quarter panel and under door
Interior: -Custom
Sheet metal dash. Most of the original dash was removed by previous owner. They left the heater core and blower motor. -Full after
market gauges (Speedometer, Temperature, boost, fuel, and voltage) all working
correctly. The factory instrument panel for the Diesel is wired, so the "Glow Plug" indicator lamp works -8 point
family cage (2 mounting locations need to be bolted down) The cage had padding installed and I removed it because of tears. there is plenty of head room inside. Some of the welds could should be rewelded due to poor penitration -Tilt Steering -Grant GT steering wheel -Eddie Bauer bucket seats with center console -Pioneer/infinity door speakers (No stereo) -Working heater (Simple on off switch for fan) -The interior panels were missing, and I have a full set of panels for it. The carpet is in fair condition and needs a good cleaning. There is no headliner because of the cage. I purchased
this vehicle in California with the conversion already done. I only have limited history
information on the conversion. It has a Montana title and cannot be registered
in CA where I live. The Smog Referee here in California declared the engine to be
not legal because the 6.9 Diesel came in F250 and F350 chassis. But the Bronco
is a F150, which makes not legal for conversion. He is correct to the BAR Law, and I attempted every possibility to get it titled in CA. It can only be an off Highway vehicle
in CA, or registered in any other state. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. I will work with the buy on shipping arrangements. For Sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early Thanks for looking Brian |

California Man Reunited 33 Years Later With Thunderbird
Wed, Sep 3 2014A California man was at a loss for words when he was reunited with his prized 1964 Ford Thunderbird on Tuesday, 33 years after it was stolen from a bar parking lot. Gary Chartrand could hardly believe how well his old Thunderbird held up in the last three decades. The odometer had only added about 1,000 miles from when he last saw the car back in the 1980s. "A few bumps and bruises but boy, not much changed," Chartrand told KOVR. Chartrand bought the car as a present to himself after finalizing his divorce from his wife of 10 years in 1981. It disappeared one night from the parking lot of a Sacramento bar where he was working. Police found Chartrand's car 750 miles north in Washington State. They have no leads on who might have stolen the classic car. Related Gallery Buying An Older Car: Five Things To Watch Out For
US Air Force Thunderbirds Mustang fetches $400K at auction
Wed, 07 Aug 2013For the last six years, Ford has created a special version of the Mustang with a military aviation theme, and then donated the car to the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) to be auctioned off at the annual AirVenture event, also known as The World's Greatest Aviation Celebration. The money raised goes to the EAA Young Eagles program to inspire the "aviation pioneers of tomorrow," and this year's 2014 Ford Mustang GT US Air Force Thunderbirds Edition was won with a final bid of $398,000.
Celebrating 60 years of the USAF's Thunderbirds, this Mustang GT is the only one of its kind with a paint job matching the Thunderbirds' F-16 Falcon jets and some Ford Racing performance added on for good measure. Including this car, Ford has helped raise around $2.3 million for the charity with the biggest auction price coming from the first year of the program, the F-22 Raptor-inspired Mustang AV8R from 2008, which sold for $500,000.
What car should James Robertson buy to drive his famous 21-mile commute?
Thu, Feb 5 2015The Internet has been abuzz this week with the story of Detroit resident James Robertson, the 56-year-old factory worker who has walked some 21 miles to work for the last 10 years. The Detroit Free Press brought Robertson's story to the fore, helping an online fundraising campaign to generate more than $275,000 (as of this writing). The original goal was just $5,000, or about enough to replace the used Honda that died on Robertson back in 2005, and left him walking. So, newly flush with funds, what's the perfect car for Robertson to buy? Let's look at the specifics of his situation, and try to pick out the best options. Here's what we know: Robertson's commute is (famously) 21 miles; he lives in downtown Detroit (for now) and seems pretty humble, so something very flashy is probably out; former Honda aside, his ties to the city (and statements about being a Ford fan) seem to indicate a Detroit Three company product is best; he's a single guy with a girlfriend; he's got to deal with Michigan weather, and the sometimes fickle snow removal processes in The D. Here are some choices: Ford F-150 Robertson is on record as being a Taurus fan, and after a decade of walking I've no doubt that the big sedan would offer a cozy respite. Still, as a car guy and a student of the industry, I'd have a hard time recommending a sedan so clearly in need of replacement. Especially when The Blue Oval has such great stuff within the rest of its roster. The 2015 F-150 seems almost perfect for Robertson. Opting for either of the new EcoBoost V6 engines should help keep fuel bills in reasonable check, while healthy ride height and four-wheel drive will get him to work on time even during the snowiest of snow days. Better still, with a fat options sheet and car-like ride quality, Robertson can have just about every amenity he might want, in a package that won't disrespect his blue-collar roots. Chevrolet Colorado You guys saw this one coming, right? The smaller footprint of the midsize Chevy pickup, relative to some of the other options here, should be an advantage for urban parking and driving. And again, 4x4 is an option for the nasty weather, the running costs should stay pretty low and there aren't many tech/luxury features that can't be had in-cabin. I'd go ahead and splash out on the Crew Cab bodystyle, too, just in case Robertson feels like starting a carpool.
