Well, after 6 years of fun and upgrades I have to let the Bronco go (too many vehicles + a bad back that took a year to recover from the last 3 day trail run). Here's a list of what's in it:

1974 Bronco Sport - Very capable off road & very comfortable on road, I built this truck as a daily driver that could take you anywhere, from the beach, to the mountains, to the boulevard, and even to work. One of the best mannered Early Broncos that you will find. Always starts! I have left it sitting for 4 months with the battery connected and, 1st try, zoom.

CANVAS FOLDING "RAGTOP" sunroof 4' wide x 5' long. Better than convertible because you can lock the car. Plus, there is less wind backlash and you can actually talk with passengers while on the highway. Takes about 3 minutes to open or close and is fairly watertight (will drip a little at front passenger corner during hard rains).

351 Windsor (stock block), Edelbrock intake, 2bbl throttle body injection (Chevy system), long tube headers w/titanium wrap (very quiet). 4 core - 3 pass radiator & 6 blade race fan. Saginaw steering pump w/remote reservoir and in-line cooler.

AOD trans w/4R70 wide range gear set + Lentech Street Eliminator valve body w/ elect. OD cutoff. Dana 20 Twin Stick w/TeraLo 3.15:1 low range

Wild Horses 3" spring lift (soft, progressive rate springs) + 1" body lift. REAR axle - 9" w/ARB locker, 4.10:1 gears, drum brakes, elect. remote disconnect sway bar. FRONT axle - Dana 44 w/Trutrak posi, chromoly axles, 76 Ford disc brakes. 33" x 12.5" Goodrich Mud Terrain Radials on '90 Bronco steel wheels, 95 percent tread.

THE WHEELS IN PHOTOS ARE INCORRECT - go to Flickr link below to view the actual wheels and tires (on the Jeep Truck at bottom of list) - THOSE wheels/tires are included with Bronco and have a much nicer stance.

Wild Horses 24 gallon fuel tank (no reserve tank).

Older Vintage Air A/C system w/new remote R134 condenser (to be installed).

Stock interior, Rhinoliner floor coating, 6 point roll cage, White face gauge panel, intermittent wiper switch, Tom's Bronco center console w/radio insert & cup holders, aluminum overhead console (covers wiper motor). Rebuilt driver's door - latch, handle, window channels, vent window pivot, rubber, and latch (have parts to finish passenger door w/same). BC Broncos 1/4" rock ski on passenger side rocker (have driver's side to be installed). This truck is tight and has no rattles.

Plus, many other parts to install: Hi-Lift jack w/sand platform, tow strap, tire hooks, etc. Tuff Stuff 12,500 lb. winch (not the best but you won't need it very often), mounting plate & 2x4 tubing to build custom mount using stock bumper blade. Steering box brace (wraps around frame), 1 qt. fuel accumulator/filter, extra MSD distributors, flex fan to reduce fan noise on highway, oil/trans temp, vacuum, amp gauges, and Cobra CB radio (no aerial).

THE BAD?

Paint is not perfect but looks very good from 10', always get compliments on the truck. NO ROT but it came from Texas and the driver's floorboard had some pinholes and has been patched cleanly. Small panel buckling at bottom of driver's door (about 2" long). Driver's door needs alignment (closes tight but sticks out 1/8").

THINGS TO BE FINISHED

Install remote A/C condenser - Has electric fan and shroud, to be mounted under passenger floorboard (between rocker and frame rail) to keep heat out of engine compartment.

Passenger door - Install new window channels, vent wing pivot and seals, new door handle, latch and striker plate.

1/4" Rocker panel cover - on Driver's side.

SHIPPING - Is the responsibility of the buyer. I will work with any shipping company to ensure safe delivery. Most transport companies will not accept loose items in vehicles so the winch and other items will probably ship separately (and they are heavy), extra shipping fees will probably be necessary.

Almost $30k in receipts. Asking $18,500 - Email any questions. 45 pictures posted on Flickr at

The 11 most expensive American cars ever

Tue, 12 Aug 2014

Here's a Pro Tip for all you would-be classic car investors out there: buy Ferraris. With the Pebble Beach festivities kicking off this week, including any number high end car auctions, we thought it would be entertaining to compile a list of some to the most expensive cars ever sold with the bang of a gavel. Trouble is, once you get past the splendor of everyone's favorite Italian sports car maker, that list is pretty boring.
Ferrari dominates the all-time auction sales list; seven of the top ten most expensive cars sold wear the Cavallino Rampante badge, as well as more than half of the top fifty. Sure, a nearly $30-million Mercedes-Benz W196 racecar might be the new top dog as of last year, but it's even possible that Ferrari could take that title back in Monterey this weekend. Long story short: we think a list of the most expensive American cars ever sold at auction is a lot more entertaining to read. Hell, our list has a friggin' Batmobile on it, how can it go wrong?
Follow on below for the top ten cars that are red, white, blue and a whole lot of green.

Ladies Love It: Ford Fiesta wins Womens World Car of the Year

Thu, 25 Jul 2013

It's official: A panel of female automotive writers has chosen the Ford Fiesta 1.0-liter EcoBoost as the Womens World Car of the Year, and it beat tough competition like the Mazda CX-5, Range Rover and Porsche Boxster S for the overall top spot.
The CX-5 and Range Rover won the SUV and Luxury Car categories, respectively, and the Boxster S laid claim to the Sports Car category, beating the runner up Audi RS5 and third place Toyota GT86/Subaru BRZ (or Scion FR-S). The Audi Allroad was named the Family car of the year.
The panel consisted of 18 female automotive writers from around the world tasked with picking the best car in each of eight categories, including top vehicle overall, using criteria that women utilize when shopping for a car. That includes safety, value-for-money, aesthetic appearance, storage space, child-friendliness, ease-of-driving, color, sex appeal and environmental footprint.

Ford reflects on radical Mustang concept that never reached showrooms

Tue, 25 Jun 2013

The Ford Mustang that we all know and love made major waves in the auto industry way back in 1964 by offering style and reasonable pricing with optional V8 power. Its long hood and short rear deck, combined with a low-slung and sporty cockpit, made a lasting impression in the minds of consumers and car designers alike, and its basic shape has so endured the test of time that it's still in use today.
This being the case, you may be interested to know that the first Mustang of 1964.5 wasn't actually the first Mustang at all, being preceded by a concept car that made its public debut in 1962. This concept was nothing like the car that would eventually make it into production, with a radical wedge shape and a small V4 engine sitting behind the car's two occupants, driving the rear wheels. In other words, the conceptual Mustang was pretty much the complete opposite of the production Mustang besides the name.
Ford has kindly decided go through its massive archive to bring the original Mustang concept back into the public eye. The company goes so far as to pose this question to fans of the pony car: "Should we borrow a few of these style elements for the next iteration of the Mustang?" Check out our image gallery above and then let 'em know what you think in the Comments below.
