This Bronco was originally owned by a friend of my father. My first trip four wheeling in it was when I was about 10 years old. That was about 34 years ago and I fell in love with the truck. He finally sold it to me in 1998. It was a rough old duck hunting vehicle then. I spent about 5 years and every dime I had restoring it according to my wife. It's been done about 3 years. I have receipts over $40,000.00 from all the usual places you go for Bronco's. It was painted on rotisirre and the underside looks just like the top side. The chassis was completely disassembled and everything was powder coated, axles and all. It's got hydroboost brakes with disc up front. I did new power steering, gear box and all that. It has new oversized fuel tank assembly. Most importanly I keep hearing everyone say Foose is doing a Bronco with steel welded in rear fender opening. I am proud to say I beat him by 4 years. We welded in arches from another pair of stock front fenders so they's match front to rear. The cobra jet style hood scoop is all steel too. It was originally done becasue I thought I would need air cleaner clearance but the hood retains it's original structure underneath. There was heat and sound deadening material done under floor rubber and headliner. The Weld Wheels were "one off" when I ordered them but there may be more in existence now. They weren't custom for me but there was only the prototype in existance when they made these. I love the ole bullet holes but wanted to be original. I don't think a lot of the new Ghetto wheels work on an Early either. The motor was completely rebuilt. Nothing special, pretty big hydraulic cam and some bolt ons as you can see. Hit me with your questions as I'm sure I've forgotten plenty. And if Alan Jackson is reading this please buy it and remake the "Drive" video. That's my story too.

Ford trademarking 'Mach 1,' possibly for Mustang
Thu, 24 Oct 2013A legendary name might be accompanying the redesigned, 2015 Mustang when it finally makes its world debut - Mach 1. Stumbled upon by the team at Ford Authority, the Mach 1 title was found in a trademark filing with the US Patent and Trademark Office, and would revive a name last used on the fourth-generation, 2003 Mustang.
While the the 2003 vintage was well and good, the Mach 1 is really remembered for a three-year run from 1969 to 1971 - it's best to just forget the emissions-choked 1972 to 1978 Mach 1s - when power output ranged from a modest 250 horsepower with the two-barrel, 351-cubic-inch Windsor V8 to "375 hp" (actual output was rumored to be well north of 400 horsepower) with the righteous, 429-cubic-inch Super Cobra Jet V8.
What does the title hold for the sixth-generation Mustang? It's tough to say. The fanatics at Ford Authority seem to think Mach 1 could take the place of the Shelby GT500 at the top of the Mustang hierarchy, which sounds like a valid argument. At the same time, we could see the SVT Cobra moniker returning for the flagship model, and the Mach 1 doing battle with the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 (unless the Boss 302 were to return). Confounding things is the historical precedent - the Mach 1 was responsible for the death of the Mustang GT in 1969, so it might make sense as a volume performance model.
1947 Chevy rat rod pickup leaves rubber and smoke in its wake
Thu, 08 May 2014Cool comes in multiple flavors. One one hand, we have the sophisticated attraction of svelte design and the efficient use of power. Of course, on the other hand there is the allure of being the bad boy and going against the grain. That is part of the appeal of rat rods. Ideally, they are built without rules to an owner's specific tastes, and this widened and heavily modified 1947 Chevrolet pickup rod is a perfect example of that spirit.
Coming down the highway with a bent grille, rusted body and pouring smoke, it looks like the pickup from hell. It backs up the looks with some very impressive mechanicals too. Owner Troy Gubser says that the truck packs a Ford Power Stroke diesel with to 42 pounds of boost that runs out of 8-inch exhaust stacks at the back. He claims it managed 505 horsepower and 885 pound-feet of torque on the dyno. To harness all that power, this hot rod has a ZF five-speed manual gearbox with a ceramic clutch and short-throw shifter. Plus, it has cool little features like a doorbell on the tailgate that operates an air horn.
You might not expect a truck like this to actually be useful, but it has a fifth wheel coupling to haul an RV around drag races and car shows. The air suspension also probably keeps the ride fairly comfy when Gubser wants it to be. Scroll down to check out this beastly rat rod pickup and watch it engage in some diesel drag racing. Warning, there is some NSFW language.
