Up for sale is my bronco with a 304 5.0 V8, lifted with working 4X4. We just restored one in worse conditioned, had fun and made a little money. The plan was to resotre this one as well...but momma is now pregnant and wants the Bronco gone. Overall, the Bronco is extreemly original. It has been driven hard but it has not been monkeyed with. The engine runs with good compression on all 8 cylinders. There are no noticable leaks or smoke. The engine does need to be cleaned up, new accessories, new freeze plugs, new starter, rebuilt carborator...to be 100%. The 3 speed on the tree and the grear box shift effortlessly. The wheels are oversized, extra deep, giving it a great stance and look. The old boat rack is just cool. It has also bee fitted with some great oversized bumpers that look to have been done at the dealership at purchase (the dealers name is on the rear bumper)...totally cool. All seats are present. The electric harness overall is in good shape and could be reused, most of the lights are working. The frame and suspension is solid but dirty. The body is all original with the usual rust (in other words, the whole floor needs to be replaced). The rocker panels and passenger rear quarter panel are damaged and need to be replaced. I think it all gives it the old Bronco character. We replaced much more with the last one. All the parts are available at http://broncograveyard.com/. These guys are easy to deal with and the quality of the parts is awesome. It will need to be hauled away. We hauled it from Arkansas and will to help load it. Let me know if you have any questions. Cheers, Jesse 214.356.2924

Ford paying $750 million just to close plant in Belgium

Thu, 21 Mar 2013

According to a report from Reuters, Ford is shelling out $750 million in a severance deal that will see the automaker close its facility in Genk, Belgium. The automaker reached this deal with the 4,000 hourly workers employed at the plant last week, which means the company will pay out an average of $187,500 per worker.
Ford is still negotiating with the 300 salaried workers at the factory, which currently produces the Mondeo sedan. All told, Ford expects to lose around $2 billion in Europe thanks in no small part to the region's ongoing economic downturn, and two more plants are scheduled to be shut down in Europe this year. The company will log its $750 million payout under "special items" for this quarter.
As you may recall, Ford took a similar path in the US back in 2009 when the domestic market took a spill. Back then, the company shelled out around $50,000 per employee with at least one year of experience, plus either $25,000 toward a new car or an extra cash payment of $20,000. It would seem the cost of closing plants in Belgium is a much harder pill to swallow than in the States...

Consumer Reports explains its disdain for infotainment

Thu, 20 Mar 2014

One of the perks of reviewing all manner of cars and trucks is that we're exposed to all the different infotainment systems. Whether Cadillac's CUE, Chrysler's UConnect, BMW's iDrive or MyFord Touch, we sample each and every infotainment system on the market.
Not surprisingly, some are better than others. It seems consumers have come to a similar consensus, with Consumer Reports claiming that Ford and Lincoln, Cadillac and Honda offer the worst user infotainment experiences. Not surprisingly, you won't find much argument among the Autoblog staff.
Take a look below to see just what it is about the latest batch of infotainment systems that grinds CR's gears. After that, scroll down into Comments and let us know if you agree with the mag's views.

Ford is building this sweet back-to-basics SUV in Brazil

Mon, 02 Jun 2014

We're use to forbidden fruit teasing us in Europe. Hatchbacks and diesels from Renault, Citroën, Peugeot, Skoda, SEAT and Alfa Romeo have been a regular torment that we've grown accustomed to over the years. This vehicle, though, is one piece of forbidden fruit we aren't entirely sure we can get over. We need it.
It's called the Ford Troller T4, and if you accidentally read that as either "reborn Ford Bronco" or "Americanized Land Rover Defender," we wouldn't be rushing to correct you. It's a basic, badass SUV, and is the first new vehicle to come from Troller since Ford gobbled it up in 2007. For those with longer memories, you'll recognize this vehicle from the concept that preceded it, the Ford T-R Concept. The production model remains remarkably true to the T-R, as well as past Trollers, but it's a slightly more modern look overall, with LED taillights, contrasting colors
You'll have to bear with us on the details, as we've been forced to rely on the notoriously literal Google Translate to convert the original Portuguese into English, which means some of the details were lost along the way.
