When you think about a Bronco, you  picture yourself either on the coast cruising around, or perhaps locally around town  doing lunch at your favorite cafe, or 4 wheeling on the trails.   This truck could go in any one of those directions.  Texas Classic Cars of Dallas is proud to bring this amazing truck to you.

Showcasing a brilliant Rangoon Red paint on the body and a contrasting white top, it draws  attention anywhere it goes. This is the original color and the very first repaint the truck has ever received.

This Bronco is very close to all original. Purchased by it's original owner in Colorado, it was purchased from her around 1996 by Melissa, the owner of the Bronco Hut for her personal use. It had 62,000 miles on the odometer at that time. She drove the truck for a few  years and then it just sat at their shop until they decided to sell it. She and her husband did the restoration for a customer of theirs.

The Bronco Hut in Castle Rock, Co. does amazing work. Melissa and her husband made the few major changes you will see through out the ad. The VIN# shows this to be a U15 truck which is the long cab. The first major change was to give it the 1/2 cab.  That was the personal preference of the builder.

Another non original addition is the custom interior cab tubular steel frame. This was personally designed by Melissa's husband. It gives some some support to the top, but is not an actual roll cage. It was designed mainly to support shoulder harnesses.

Moving along to the interior, there is space for up to three people, but fitting two comfortably. The interior colors blend well together. This is where another change was made. The truck came from the factory with bucket seats. It was decided at the time of the redo, to go with an actual Bronco bench seat. The custom upholstery and addition of the head rests is a $1500. addition in itself.

The attention to detail is obvious in this restoration.

The dashboard displays all of its original gauges. They are all working and there are two gas gauges, one for each of the 2 gas tanks this truck comes with.

The speedometer displays original miles. The radio is working and all of the rest of the components as well. There is no A/C, just heat.

The custom 2 1/2" lift kit consists of actually 31/2" front springs and 2 1/2" rear springs. This gives it the proper stance.

Under the hood there is the original 302 V8 motor that produces a good amount of horsepower, a manual transmission connects to the engine. This vintage Bronco is equipped with factory power steering. Melissa and her husband added the new front disk brake kit.

The engine compartment was left original to show what great condition it was in. It was just detailed, and not rebuilt.

Which of these high-powered pickup classics would you choose?

Fri, Apr 17 2020

High-performance pickups would appear to be having a moment on the auction site Bring a Trailer, with two tempting examples up for auction right now: a 1971 Ford Ranchero GT and a 1991 GMC Syclone. These trucks are a generation apart, but they each represent the peak muscle truck of their time. The Ranchero, of course, was Ford's car-based pickup, and Ford took advantage of its Torino roots by offering the same ultra-high-performance 429 Cobra Jet V8 in the Ranchero as it did in the Torino-branded coupes and convertibles. The 429 V8 in this truck is said to be numbers-matching, and it looks the business topped with an air scoop poking through the hood. It's paired with a three-speed automatic and a limited slip differential, reportedly one of only 82 1971-model Rancheros with this powertrain combo. As a Ranchero GT, this example sports hidden headlights, and the dual sport mirrors and vinyl top further establish its kinship with its passenger-car siblings. A set of factory Magnum 500 wheels and a respray in the original red add to the muscle-truck vibe. Two decades later, car-based pickups were dead, so when GMC decided to revive the muscle-truck genre it did so with the mid-size Sonoma. The resulting Syclone put a more modern spin on the fast-pickup idea (and on the spelling of "cyclone"). This hi-po hauler uses a 4.3-liter V6 topped with a Mitsubishi turbocharger that helped it make 280 horsepower. It's mated to a floor-shifted four-speed automatic and a Borg-Warner all-wheel-drive system with a 35/65 torque split. The Syclone was a one-year-only model, of which just under 3,000 were built. All were black with matching cloth seats with red accents. The only other '71 Ranchero to appear on BaT was a non-original GT with a 351ci V8 that was a no-sale at $7,900. This Ranchero is already nearly double that figure. Of the four previously Syclones that have crossed BaT's virtual auction block, two have sold, for $36,000 and $50,000, but both had lower miles than this truck. At this writing, these two trucks are neck-and-neck, both in the mid teens with both auctions set to end April 23. Which powerhouse pickup makes you want to put your money down? Ford's J Mays feels vindicated by Fusion reception

Tue, 25 Sep 2012

It's hard to think back now, but the same man overseeing the design of the 2013 Ford Fusion also presided over a rather lackluster period in Ford design, highlighted by vehicles like the Five Hundred and Freestyle. With the redesigned Fusion receiving high praise, J Mays tells Automotive News that he feels vindicated from criticisms suggesting he's not a daring enough designer.
When Mays took over as lead of design in 1997, he admits to having quite an ego ("My head would barely fit through the door some days. I've long since gotten over myself") and the workload to match. With the Blue Oval's portfolio full of premium brands like Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo at that point, along with the bread-and-butter Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models, Mays certainly had quite the challenge.
It was in the mid-2000s that Mays took over just the premium brands, and took on the new title of Chief Creative Officer. At the time, Mays endured some criticism for looking backwards to retro styling, rather than setting a new standard for American car design - criticism that Mays says he is free from with the all-new Fusion.

10 automakers sued over keyless ignitions

Thu, Aug 27 2015

Keyless ignition has rapidly proliferated throughout the auto industry to become a fairly normal feature on new cars. It's supposed to offer the convenience of keeping the fob in your pocket and just pressing a button to drive away. However, ten major automakers are now being sued in US District Court over claims that the system is dangerous, Reuters reports. The suit alleges that people are forgetting to shut off the engine, and the lack of an idle timer is the cause for 13 deaths by carbon monoxide poisoning and multiple injuries. The suit currently includes 28 plaintiffs, according to Reuters, but the lawyers are asking for class-action status to potentially add many more. The case goes after a major swath of the industry, including BMW, Daimler, FCA, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota, and Volkswagen, plus their related brands like Acura, Infiniti, Mini, and Lexus. In all, over five million vehicles are affected. The assertion here is that people walk away from their vehicle without shutting it off because they believe the engine shuts off automatically. If parked in a garage, carbon monoxide can build up, leading to poisoning. The lawyers claim automakers know this is a problem and also cite 27 complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration about the issue, according to Reuters. The plaintiffs are asking for an automatic shut-off and damages from the companies. These concerns have come up before, though. Toyota previously faced a lawsuit over a carbon monoxide death after a woman accidentally left her Lexus running. Also earlier this year, GM recalled 64,186 examples of the 2011-2013 Chevrolet Volt because owners weren't shutting them off. The problem resulted in two injuries, and the company released a software update to limit the idling time.
