See the seller's listing for full details and description of any imperfections.Seller Notes:"Too much to mention, but for a start this Bronco has had a complete frame-off restoration and almost everything on it is either new or completely rebuilt. Engine was professionally rebuilt, as was the transmission and transfer case, and carburetor. Engine has NEW crankshaft, Ford flat-top racing pistons, rings, valves, seals, stems, rocker arms, bored .030 over. All of the following are NEW: coil, battery, shifter, brakes, rotors, cylinders, calipers, coil springs, leaf springs, dual exhaust with Turbo mufflers, drive shafts, U-joints, fender flares, fuel pump, gas tank, gauges, distributor, master brake cylinder, starter, water pump, windshield, stabilizer shock, belts, hoses, mirrors, steering wheel. Interior completely done including carpet, leather seats, rear quarter panels. I can email a spreadsheet that shows everything. Bronco has no rust- NONE! It's never been driven in bad weather and is stored inside in the winter. It starts fast, idles great, and runs at 70 mph smoothly."

Bronco has new padded dash, but it does have a crack in it. There is some minor paint peeling in the channels along the top roof- this is NOT rust. There are a couple of scratches on the body directly beneath the top on the driver's side and a couple of minor blemishes on the back. The grill could use a new paint job. The radio/MP3 player currently does not work. I don't care so I haven't checked it out- might be just a fuse. One fuse panel is hard to reach, and with back problems it's hard for me to get to. The speedometer needle jumps around some on occasion- it might need another shim in the transfer case. It hasn't bothered me enough to worry about. Cable and speedometer head are new. I wanted to put a headliner in it but haven't had time. Tires are worn some, but I don't drive it much. The 429 miles on it since the rebuild include two trips of around 100 miles each. Bronco is absolutely smooth running at 70 mph- a real pleasure to drive. Everyone flocks to it when I take it to car shows. I have owned, worked on, and rebuilt Broncos all my life. When I retired, I wanted to do one "going all out." I would put this in the top 5 Broncos in the country. It breaks my heart to have to sell it, but I have to settle a divorce. I will answer all questions to the best of my ability and I would urge you to look at the spreadsheet. I'm sure I forgot to mention dozens of new things on it. There is very little left to do.

Buyer is responsible for shipping arrangements, etc., but I am willing to help, depending on location.

Ford finds flex-fuel engine design plays big role in emissions output

Mon, Jan 6 2014

How bad is ethanol for your engine? There's been a lot of debate on this issue as the US considers upping the biofuel content in the national gasoline supply from 10 percent (E10) to 15 percent (E15). The ethanol industry and some scientists say higher ethanol blends show no "meaningful differences" in new engines while the oil industry says ethanol creates health risks. Researchers working at the Ford Research and Innovation Center decided to take a closer look at how a wide range of gas-ethanol blends - E0, E10, E20, E30, E40, E55 and E80 - affected the emissions coming out of a flex-fuel 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. To see the full report, printed in the journal Environmental Science & Technology, requires payment, but there is an abstract and Green Car Congress has some more details. The gist is that, "with increasing ethanol content in the fuel, the tailpipe emissions of ethanol, acetaldehyde, formaldehyde, methane, and ammonia increased." At least NOx and NMHC emissions decreased. The researchers say that the effects are due to the fuel and "are expected for all FFVs," but that the way that a manufacturer calibrates the engine will affect NOx, THC, and NMOG emissions. It's this last bit that's important, since the researchers found, "Higher ethanol content in gasoline affects several fundamental fuel properties that can impact emissions. ... These changes can have positive or negative effects that can depend on engine design, hardware, and control strategy. In addition to direct emissions impacts, higher ethanol content fuel can also provide more efficient combustion and overall engine operation under part-load conditions and under knock-limited higher-load conditions." So, as we head towards more ethanol in our fuel supply (maybe), manufacturers are going to need to learn how to burn it most efficiently.

Recharge Wrap-up: Ford's "snowtonomous" Fusion Hybrid, Porsche eyes battery makers

Fri, Mar 11 2016

Bosch and Panasonic are vying to be the battery supplier for Porsche's electric sports car based on the Mission E concept. While Bosch's costs may be higher, its solution would offer simpler logistics. Panasonic is already well established as a battery maker, providing the packs for the Porsche car's rival, Tesla. "We're in the final stage of making a decision," says Porsche CEO Oliver Blume, declining to comment on specific manufacturers. Neither Bosch nor Panasonic provided comment. The project involves the installation of 1,000 EV chargers powered by 10,000 photovoltaic panels. The Renault Zoes would be used as part of a carsharing program powered by the solar chargers. Renault and its partners will also implement a vehicle-to-grid system to provide energy during peak demand from the solar chargers and connected EVs. Read more in the press release from Renault. Ford has been testing an autonomous Fusion Hybrid prototype that is capable of driving itself in snowy conditions. Ford uses 3D mapping to scan the drive route. Its LiDAR laser mapping can even detect single falling snowflakes. It collects and processes up to 600 gigabytes of data per hour, comparing its environment to saved maps, a process that helps establish location more precisely than GPS. In addition to the LiDAR systems, the car is also equipped with cameras and radar to help it navigate. Eventually, the car could even be able to clean off its sensors when it detects loss of performance from ice and dirt. Read more in the press release below. FROM AUTONOMY TO SNOWTONOMY: HOW FORD FUSION HYBRID AUTONOMOUS RESEARCH VEHICLE CAN NAVIGATE IN WINTER DEARBORN, Mich., March 10, 2016 – Driving in snow can be a slippery challenge, with the potential for one blizzardy gust to white-out your field of view – a situation faced by the majority of people in the United States. So if self-driving cars are to become a reality – and they almost certainly will – they must be able to navigate snow-covered roads. In its quest to bring self-driving vehicles to millions of people around the world, Ford reveals six facts about its technology that allows for a car to drive itself in snow. 1. Mapping the way: Ford first creates high-resolution 3D maps using LiDAR technology to scan the area its autonomous vehicle will later drive in the snow.

Ford pits Cobra Jet versus GRC Fiesta ST, worlds collide

Thu, 31 Oct 2013

Racing takes on many forms in the automotive world. There are sanctioned events that are as varied and diverse as NASCAR, Formula One, Global Rallycross and drag racing, and to be good enough to win competitively in one discipline, you need to have a specialized vehicle. Or do you?
Ford decided to find out what would happen when its Global Rallycross Fiesta ST, driven by Tanner Foust, lined up against its Mustang Cobra Jet drag racer, driven by Roy Hill. In one lane, Tanner has just 2.0 liters of displacement to work with, while Roy has more than double that, at 5.0 liters. Evening the playing field a bit, Tanner has a massive turbocharger and all-wheel drive; Roy has to filter all his supercharged power through the rear wheels only.
So, who wins? We suggest you see for yourself in the press release and video below. And we're holding out hope that Tanner's challenge at the end results in another video from Ford Racing...
