1969 Ford Bronco, Early Bronco on 2040-cars
Ronkonkoma, New York, United States
Vehicle Title:Clear
Make: Ford
Drive Type: 4x4
Model: Bronco
Mileage: 99,999
Trim: sport
See ad in pics. Some rust on hard top. Looks like shotgun buck shot above driver door and bondo on the outside needs repair. Driver side front corner of hard top has a broken seam, see pics. Driver door window broken ($60), and window frame weld broken where it meets the door. See pics. A new bolt in style window frame is $130. Some rust, not rot, around brake mount on firewall and on inner fender on pass side. Small oil and tranny leak, just gaskets from sitting. Small dent and chipped paint on tailgate from pulling a stump. Air/fuel mix is off. It just needs someone with tlc to do it. Power steering hoses leak and it will squeak when turned while not rolling. Steering box has play. The tires are 35/12.5x15. And are probably 10 years old. They still hold air fine and are fine for driving around town but are out of round from sitting and wiggle at hwy speed. They can't be balanced because they are out of round. It also has the 1969 inverted y tie rod set up with a 1977 Dana 44 disk brake up front and a 1979 Ford 9 inch in the rear. Manual brakes. There is no thermostat or radiator overflow. Antifreeze will come out the overflow hose, no overflow, but it never overheats. All the little things I've been meaning to do. I have a soft top but it should be replaced. I have soft door inserts, installed once, and soft doors, frames and canvas, never installed. A back seat in good shape, bottom of seat frame is bent from a "husky" friend of mine and some 4 wheeling. I also have the aux. Gas tank and filler neck. Stock tire carrier. Spare lift gate. And vinyl carpet kit with padding and molding, never installed. The truck has been used, not abused. It's a solid truck. Some light scratches and a cracked passenger side rear fender flare from some tight trails. It hasn't been wheeling or in the snow in atleast 6 yrs. It is pretty much the same as I bought it. It's an Ohio truck I bought 12 years or so ago. Stored outside, but in a carport which goes with it if you want it. I've tried to be as honest as possible. Not trying to get a fortune either. The Bronco just needs someone to use it. E mail me any questions. If you want to talk include your phone number. Thanks. It just kills me to see it sit. I just have no time to give it love. Needs a good home. With miminal work this is an awesome truck, I just don't have the time. ************ $500 Non refundable due 48 hrs from auction close. PayPal only. Pick up only.******** The rest due before or at pick up. No personal checks. Cash or certified moneys. Will not release vehicle until all funds are accounted for and received. 12 best hybrid SUVs for 2022
Tue, Jun 15 2021If you're searching for the best hybrid SUV, the truth is there actually aren't that many choices. While there's an endless sea of those powered solely by gasoline, those that add batteries and superior fuel economy to the mix are few and far between. The very good news, however, is that the choices you have are actually excellent. The top-selling and top-rated Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 are not only available as hybrids, for instance, but are actually at their most appealing as hybrids. Luxury hybrid SUVs are a different story. While Lexus offers each of its crossover SUVs as a conventional hybrid, those of other brands are by and large plug-in hybrids that provide a relatively brief amount of all-electric propulsion, superior fuel economy and higher prices that are somewhat countered by EV tax rebates. We include both conventional hybrids and plug-in hybrids in the below list of best hybrid SUVs. All are listed alphabetically within each category. Best small hybrid SUVs  |  Best midsize hybrid SUVs Best luxury hybrid SUVs  |  Best luxury plug-in hybrid SUVs Best small hybrid SUVs Honda CR-V Hybrid Why it stands out: Best-in-class back seat space; hybrid's distinctive EV-like power delivery; middle lower LATCH anchorCould be better: Antiquated and glitchy tech interface; a bit dull Hybrid fuel economy: 38 mpg combined (AWD only) Read our 2022 Honda CR-V Review Consider the CR-V the baseline for any compact SUV search. Objectively speaking, it's tough to beat due to its massive cargo capacity, voluminous back seat, well-balanced driving dynamics, competitive pricing and features, strong safety ratings and well-regarded reliability. In terms of its hybridness, we like that Honda's distinctive hybrid system sees most of its propulsion handled by the electric motor (the engine rarely powers the wheels directly), resulting in a more EV-like, torque-rich power delivery and a less obtrusive gas engine. For the vast majority of compact SUV buyers, and especially families, the CR-V Hybrid checks every box.  Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Why it stands out: Beautiful interior; excellent infotainment and safety technology; traditional automatic transmissionCould be better: No spare tire; styling a tad outrageous Hybrid fuel economy: 37-38 mpg combined (AWD only) Plug-in hybrid electric range: 33 miles Plug-in hybrid fuel economy: 80 MPGe Read our 2022 Hyundai Tucson Review The Tucson is the new kid in town and it's made quite an entrance.
Question of the Day: Most degraded car name?
Fri, May 27 2016When Ford came up with a not-so-sporty version of the Pinto and slapped Mustang badges on it in 1974, that was a low point for the Mustang name. When Chrysler applied the venerable Town & Country name on perfectly functional but unglamorous minivans, it saddened many of us. But perhaps the biggest demotion for a once-proud model came when, in 1988, General Motors imported a misery-enhancing Daewoo from Korea and called it the Pontiac LeMans. The original Pontiac LeMans was a great-looking midsize car with fairly advanced (for the time) suspension design and engine options including potent V8s and a screaming overhead-cam straight-six. The Daewoo-based Pontiac LeMans was a cramped, shoddy hooptie that served only to ruin the LeMans name forever, while stealing sales from the Suzuki-based Chevrolet Sprint. Sure, using the once-respected Monterey name on the Mercurized Ford Freestar was bad, but Mercury didn't have long to live at that point. I say the downward spiral of the LeMans name was the most agonizing in automotive history. What do you think? Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. The U-2 spy plane needs high-performance cars to help land
Thu, Oct 15 2015Typically, aircraft deploy their landing gear from three main points. Most military aircraft, for example, deploy two gears at the back and one forward, like a tricycle. Some civilian aircraft flip the layout, with two in front and one in back - tail-draggers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is wildly different than any of these. With a 103-foot wingspan but a body that's just 63-feet long, the layout of the U-2 makes a traditional landing setup infeasible. Instead, the U-2 utilizes a pair of wheels, one up front and one in back. With such a bizarre layout, landings are so tough that since the U-2's earliest flights at Area 51, the US Air Force has used high-performance chase cars to guide the pilot down safely. The landing process isn't over there, though. As this video from Sploid shows, balancing out the aircraft to fit the detachable "pogos" – think training wheels for spy planes – is a comical procedure requiring a number of airman using their full body weight to even out the U-2. This video also recaps some of the great vehicles that have served as chase vehicles for this legendary spy plane. They include Chevrolet El Caminos, and the Fox-body Ford Mustangs so favored by the California Highway Patrol. For the last several years, the USAF has utilized products from General Motors, using fourth-generation Chevy Camaros, before switching over to the Pontiac GTO and most recently, the awesome Pontiac G8. It's fair to say that if you're a gearhead in the Air Force, this is the job you want. Check out the video, embedded up top.
