Finished from the factory in Harbor Blue, the truck received a driver-quality repaint in metallic light blue with a black half cab and trim during current ownership. The weatherstripping, door handles, hinges, locks, limiting straps, and mirrors were replaced at that time, while the rocker panels were reportedly replaced during previous ownership. The front and rear fenders have been cut and spray-on liner has been applied to the bed. Additional features include an aftermarket rear bumper, wheel arch flares, side steps, a roll bar, and a locking cargo drawer. Areas of cracked paint are documented in the gallery below.

Black-finished 16″ MB alloy wheels are wrapped in 265/75 Cooper Discoverer ATP tires, and a spare is mounted in the bed. The truck is equipped with power steering, and power-assisted front disc brakes, and modifications include a 1″ body lift kit and an aftermarket front sway bar. The seller states the locking front hubs, brake lines, front hubs, springs, shocks, ball joints, bushings, and steering linkage components were replaced and the rear brakes have been serviced.

Bucket seats sourced from a Ford Focus Titanium are upholstered in black leather with silver stitching. Equipment includes a FiTech Go-EFI controller, Auto Airair conditioning, a RetroSound Bluetooth stereo, a B&M short throw shifter, and a center console with a locking storage compartment and cupholders. The dash pad, armrests, and vinyl floor covers were replaced by the seller along with switchgear, window cranks, door handles, and pedal pads.

A leather-wrapped Grant steering wheel frames Dakota Digital instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer and an analog tachometer with a digital readout.

The 5.0-liter V8 was reportedly sourced from a 2001 Ford Explorer and installed by the seller. It is said to have received a replacement timing chain, distributor, belts, hoses, and oil and water pumps. Modifications include the following components:

Power is delivered to the rear or all four wheels via a five-speed AX-15 manual transmission with an Advanced Adapters kit and a dual-range Dana 20 transfer case, a Dana 30 front axle, and a limited-slip rear end. The seller notes the transfer case and axles were resealed and the driveshafts were replaced.

Honda poised for growth, Detroit to hold steady, Car Wars study says

Fri, Jun 5 2015

The automotive industry is expected to keep booming in the US over the next several years, but the train might start running out of steam in the long term, according to 2015's Car Wars report from Bank of America Merrill Lynch analyst John Murphy. The forecast focuses on changes between the 2016 and 2019 model years, and the latest trends appear similar in some cases to the past predictions. Sales are expected to keep growing and reach a peak of 20 million in 2018, according to the Detroit Free Press. The expansion is projected to come from a quick pace of vehicle launches, with an average of 48 introductions a year – 26 percent more than in 1996. Crossovers are expected to make up a third of these, maintaining their strong popularity. However, Murphy predicts a decline, as well. By 2025, total sales could fall to around 15 million units. As of May 2015, the seasonally adjusted annual rate for this year stands at 17.71 million. Like last year, Honda is predicted to be a big winner in the future thanks to products like the next-gen Civic. "Honda should be the biggest market share gainer," Murphy said when presenting the report, according to Free Press. Meanwhile, in a situation similar to Car Wars from 2012, a lack of many new vehicles is expected to cause a drop for Hyundai, Kia, and Nissan. Based on this forecast, Ford, General Motors, and FCA US will all generally maintain market share for the coming years. The report does make some future product predictions, though. The next Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra might come in 2019, which is earlier than expected. Also, Lincoln could get a Mustang-based coupe for 2017, a compact sedan for 2018 and an Explorer-based model in 2019, according to the Free Press. Ford of Europe celebrates Mondeo's 20th anniversary

Wed, 25 Sep 2013

Ford's European operations are celebrating a milestone of sorts as the Mondeo, the Blue Oval's bread-and-butter D-segment sedan in the old country, celebrates its 20th anniversary. The mid-sizer, which was sold in the US for a short time as the Contour, has been a far more popular vehicle in Europe - even receiving regular praise from one Jeremy Clarkson.
Narrated by Cockney actor Ray Winstone, the video goes through the Mondeo's years and how it's evolved from 1993 to the as-yet-unreleased fifth-generation model, which is essentially the same as the Ford Fusion that's sold in America. Take a look below for the full video from Ford of Europe.

Ken Block and friends race light in silly-beautiful Castrol commercial

Wed, 28 May 2014

How does one make fast, loud, drifting cars better? Well, you can add more fast, loud, drifting cars or you can add lasers. Either or, really. In this case, Castrol did the right thing and added both, creating a highly stylized commercial for its Edge Titanium motor oil starring South African racer Adrian Zaugg, BMW factory driver Augusto Farfus, Audi DTM and Le Mans staple Mike Rockenfeller and some bloke named Ken Block.
Their cars? No surprise, but Block is in his Ford Fiesta GRC, while Zaugg samples a Lamborghini Aventador and Farfus and Rockenfeller drive along party lines, with a BMW M4 and an Audi R8, respectively. And those cars look good, too, thanks to the creative light and laser work on display.
Take a look below for the video from Castrol.
