1967 Ford Military Bronco on 2040-cars

Year:1967 Mileage:116000
Location:

Soperton, Georgia, United States

For sale is a 1967 Military Bronco.  It is 1 of 125 that was issued to the military in 1967 for them to test.   I would like to see it restored to military specs, but realize I never will so I am parting with it.

The bronco runs and drives great.

  • 200 six cylinder, stock 411 gears, manual drum brakes, and manual steering

  • New polyurethane bushing kit in the front end

  • 4 new shocks

  • New radiator

  • New water pump.

The body is solid with a few dents, dings, and issues as it is a 46 year old unrestored bronco.  The rust is minimal.

  • Some surface rust in areas on the roof and a few on the body when the paint is chipped off.

  • It has a rusted through place by the right rear quarter panel in the seam which is in the pictures.

  • It has a welded up spot on the driver’s door seal where is looks like something punctured it, but is not rust.

  • The rear quarters have been cut and raised 1-2 inches.

  • It does have some pitting under the battery box and a few small places in the bed area, but not rusted through.

  • The doors have small splits where the mirrors bolt.  The split is probably 1-1.5 inches long.  I have been told that it is common on broncos, I guess the mirror vibrating going down the road made it split.  It can be spot welded up easily.

Other things to note:

  • It also has been converted to electric wipers from the vacuum wipers.

  • New door seals

  • New lift gate seal

  • New tail gate seal

  • Door hinges have been rebuilt

Military broncos had a dash plate stating the branch it was issued too.  It is missing the military dash plate, but has two stickers on the glove box with one reading about wearing seat belts and the other reading about the vehicle being under warranty as long it is in the 50 states. It has a government DSO code, it is a U15, and I have a Marti report stating its destination verifying it is a military bronco.

Additional early bronco military history can be found at this site.

Ford Fiesta ST in startling track battle against Toyota GT86

Wed, 26 Jun 2013

On the surface, there's very little that the Ford Fiesta ST and Toyota GT86 (or the Scion FR-S that is sold in the US, or the largely similar Subaru BRZ) share in common. One is a hatchback with power coming from a turbocharged engine routed to the front wheels. The other is a coupe with power coming from a naturally aspirated four-cylinder boxer engine routed to the rear wheels.
Thing is, both of them are reasonably priced performance cars aimed at a similar segment of the automotive marketplace, so a comparison isn't out of the question. It is with all of this in mind that we direct you to the video below, in which the blokes from Evo pit the two manic little machines against one another on a race track. The result? Well, it can be summed up this way: Fast versus fun.
See how the track battle goes down in the video below.

Leno talks racing with NASCAR racer Joey Logano

Wed, 02 Jul 2014

Jay Leno has to be under significant pressure knowing the appetite his fans have for a new Jay Leno's Garage video every week. This time, Jay takes a break from his usual format (something he's been doing with some frequency as of late) and goes back to his roots as a talk show host. There's no classic in the garage his episode with an interesting story to tell and a sumptuous exhaust note. Instead, the focus is purely on interviewing 23-year-old NASCAR racer Joey Logano about what it's like to be a racecar driver in his Ford Fusion.
Logano started racing at the tender age of six and has risen up the circle-track ranks to the big show of the NASCAR Sprint Cup. The two of them talk about what it's like to compete in the sport today compared to yesteryear, and Logano shares some racing anecdotes. Of course, they also get into what it's like to be on the racetrack controlling a car with about 850 horsepower, a four-speed manual transmission and brakes without any power boost. Scroll down to watch the video.

Ford celebrates 1 millionth Mustang built at Flat Rock

Thu, 18 Apr 2013

Yesterday, the Ford Mustang turned 49 years old, and Ford didn't miss the opportunity to celebrate the one millionth version of the Mustang rolling off the assembly line at the Flat Rock Assembly plant. Production of the Mustang at Flat Rock coincided with the fifth-generation design launching in 2004, and the one millionth car was the car shown above, a 2014 GT convertible painted in Ruby Red.
In total, Ford has sold more than 8.5 million Mustangs since the original car went on sale, but some of the key milestones over the car's nine years at Flat Rock include the Shelby GT-H, Bullitt, Boss 302 and, of course, the 662-horsepower Shelby GT500. Scroll down for a press release celebrating Flat Rock's milestone Mustang.
