HERE WE HAVE A NICE 89 BRONCO II. I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK IN 2006 AND DROVE IT UNTIL MY WIFE STOLE IT FROM ME AND DROVE IT UNTIL 2011. IN 2008 THE ENGINE BLEW A HEAD GASKET SO I REBUILT IT AND INSTALLED CAST IRON HEADS. WHILE THE MOTOR WAS OUT I PAINTED IT CHANGING THE COLOR FROM BLUE AND GREY TO BURGUNDY AND TAN. MY WIFE CONTINUED TO DRIVE IT UNTIL THE SPRING OF 2011 WHEN THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING SO SHE BOUGHT A FORD EDGE AND THE BRONCO WAS PARKED. IN NOVEMBER 2012 I DECIEDED TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT IT NOW HAS A ONE YEAR 12,000 MILE WARRANTY WITCH STARTED IN DECEMBER 2012. THE ONLY PROBLEMS THE TRUCK HAS NOW ARE: THE AC COMPRESSER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED THE PULLEY BEARING WENT BAD AND BROKE THE COMPRESSER HOUSING. THE AC HAS NO LEAKS AND IS STILL FULLY CHARGED. THE HANDLE USED TO POP THE HOOD BROKE SO YOU HAVE TO USE A PAIR OF PLYERS TO PULL THE CABLE. THERE IS A VERY SMALL SPOT OF RUST STARTING ABOVE THE REAR PASSINGER SIDE WHEEL OTHER THAN THAT THE FLOORS, ROCKERS, AND DOORS ARE SOLID AND RUST FREE. THE POWER WINDOWS, LOCKS, CRIUSE CONTROL, AND FOUR WHEEL DRIVE ALL WORK GREAT. I HAVE THE TRUCK ADVERTIZED LOCALLY FOR $3500.00 OR BEST OFFER SO THE AUCTION MAY END EARLY IF YOU ARE INTERESRTED CALL AND MAKE ME AN OFFER 315-546-5603. THE TRUCK IS IN JORDAN NY JUST WEST OF SYRACUSE

Toyota, Ford decide to end hybrid collaboration before it starts
Tue, 23 Jul 2013Not all so-called Memorandum of Understanding pacts end in actual collaborations. For instance, after a two-year "feasibility study," Toyota and Ford have just announced that they will not be developing hybrid systems for use in light trucks and SUVs as previously planned, and the two automakers will instead continue to develop their own hybrid technology independently.
The would-be collaboration was first announced in August of 2011, and would have seen a rear-wheel-drive hybrid platform that would "improve the efficiency of trucks and SUVs while still allowing them to be driven in the way customers expect," according to our initial post on the topic.
Keep in mind that this announcement isn't to say we shouldn't expect hybrid pickups and SUVs from the two automakers, but that they probably aren't coming very soon - Ford says it will have a system "before the end of this decade" and we haven't heard much from Toyota on the hybrid truck front since the 2008 A-BAT Concept (pictured above) - and that they will not share any components between them (and they never have, for what it's worth).
Ford fights back against patent trolls
Fri, Feb 13 2015Some people are just awful. Some organizations are just as awful. And when those people join those organizations, we get stories like this one, where Ford has spent the past several years combatting so-called patent trolls. According to Automotive News, these malicious organizations have filed over a dozen lawsuits against the company since 2012. They work by purchasing patents, only to later accuse companies of misusing intellectual property, despite the fact that the so-called patent assertion companies never actually, you know, do anything with said intellectual property. AN reports that both Hyundai and Toyota have been victimized by these companies, with the former forced to pay $11.5 million to a company called Clear With Computers. Toyota, meanwhile, settled with Paice LLC, over its hybrid tech. The world's largest automaker agreed to pay $5 million, on top of $98 for every hybrid it sold (if the terms of the deal included each of the roughly 1.5 million hybrids Toyota sold since 2000, the company would have owed $147 million). Including the previous couple of examples, AN reports 107 suits were filed against automakers last year alone. But Ford is taking action to prevent further troubles... kind of. The company has signed on with a firm called RPX, in what sounds strangely like a protection racket. Automakers like Ford pay RPX around $1.5 million each year for access to its catalog of patents, which it spent nearly $1 billion building. "We take the protection and licensing of patented innovations very seriously," Ford told AN via email. "And as many smart businesses are doing, we are taking proactive steps to protect against those seeking patent infringement litigation." What are your thoughts on this? Should this patent business be better managed? Is it reasonable that companies purchase patents only to file suit against the companies that build actual products? Have your say in Comments.
Ford recalling nearly 700k Escape CUVs, C-Max hybrids over two separate safety issues
Fri, 09 May 2014Poor Escape. Ever since its launch in 2012, Ford's small CUV has been the subject of many, many, many recalls. And today, The Detroit News is reporting that Ford is adding two more recalls to the 2013-14 model year Escape's permanent record, one of them also involves the C-Max hybrid hatchback.
The first recall, covering 692,500 Escape and C-Max vehicles, is due to a software glitch that could cause the airbags - specifically, the safety canopy - to not deploy in a timely fashion during rollover crashes. According to the News, Ford says no crashes or injuries have been reported in relation to this problem.
The second recall, covering 692,700 Escapes, is related to the door handles. The News reports that the exterior door handles could open while the vehicle is in motion, and could also fail to latch properly. Once again, no crashes or injuries have occurred because of this. The National Highway Safety Traffic Administration has not issued an official notice on either recall as of this writing.
