2000 Ford Explorer Sport Sport Utility 2-door 4.0l on 2040-cars
Cincinnati, Ohio, United States
Clean 2 owner title 2000 Ford Explorer Sport, 234,000+ miles which needs (I'm told) a new clutch and transmission. Listed as "mechanics special" as the rest of the truck from a running perspective is mechanically sound. Engine, belts, diffs, suspension, exhaust, brakes (except emergency, more on that below) all are in working order with no leaks/drips. Tires should be replaced this year and body has normal wear and tear for being used both on and off road and has rust on the rear bumper and body on drivers side door entry which is typical for this model. Interior is fair for its age but carpets and passenger seat could use some cleaning but no rips, tears or holes.
Things that could be fixed but are not necessary to make it run: - Emergency brake. I actually had this fixed but for whatever reason it won't engage the rear brakes. Pedal is tight so it may just need some tweaking - Turn signal module. Turn signals both work but it gets stuck every couple of months. - Drivers side door lock. It works (in theory), key fob doesn't unlock drivers door, just everything else... the rivet that holds the internal box inside the door came loose so you have to unlock from inside of truck by pulling the door handle. It's an easy fix, I just never got around to do it. - Radio antenna. Douchebag in Mt Adams broke it off. I don't listen to the radio so I never fixed it. Again, another easy peasy one. - Rear Lund wind deflector. You could remove it, but you would have to patch the holes you would have in the hatch door. It broke years ago and I ghetto rigged it back together using inner-city ingenuity, glue and gorilla tape. It has sentimental value to me, doubt it would for you however. - Rear wiper, needs a new one although I'm not really sure why Ford even has one because I could never, ever get it to work right. There are a few other things such as rock chips in front glass (but no cracks), missing mudflap etc that have nothing whatsoever to do mechanically. Just things from wear and tear. I've taken plenty of pictures so judge for yourself. The truck still runs but needs transmission attention... $600.00 cash/cashiers check or PayPal only. |

Autoblog Minute: Ford Ranger, UK Mustang, Hyundai Hybrid
Fri, Aug 28 2015Ford may bring the Ranger back to the US, the UK goes nuts over the Mustang, and the battle of hybrids heats up with spy shots of the Toyota Prius and a new Hyundai. Autoblog's senior editor Greg Migliore reports on the weekly recap edition of Autoblog Minute. Show full video transcript text [00:00:00] Ford may bring the Ranger back to the US, the UK goes nuts over Mustang, and the battle of hybrids heats up with spy shots of Prius and a new Hyundai. I'm Autoblog senior editor Greg Migliore and this is your Autoblog Minute weekly recap. 2011 was the last time we saw Ford's midsize pickup in the US but according to a report from the Detroit News we could see production of the Ranger at the [00:00:30] Dearborn automaker's Michigan Assembly Plant as early as 2018. Ranger could compete with the Chevy Colorado and perhaps revive the compact and midsize pickup market for Ford, but the future of Ranger in the US depends a lot on Ford's ongoing negotiations with the UAW. About 2,000 orders for the 2015 Mustang were placed in the UK, tying up production of the pony car until July 2016. According to details in a press release from Ford UK, [00:01:00] it looks like Brits are a lot like their American cousins, opting for the 5.0 liter V8, with Race Red as the popular color of choice. Photos of the 2016 Toyota Prius leaked generating a lot of buzz over the styling. This fourth generation Prius will have some new competition as spy shots of a new Hyundai also surfaced this week. The car is said to be a hybrid and a bonafide "Prius fighter." Those are the highlights from the week that was. Be sure to check out my full recap this Saturday, [00:01:30] including the latest in FCA rumors for 2016. For Autoblog, I'm Greg Migliore. Ford books $2.6B pretax quarterly profit
Thu, 24 Jul 2014While its crosstown competitors at General Motors are smarting over a drastic drop in net income to $200 million in the second quarter, Ford has reason to celebrate. The Blue Oval has announced its own Q2 financial results, including a growing net income of $1.3 billion, a $78 million increase over last year. Pretax profits for the company reached $2.6 billion, up $44 million from 2013, but total revenue dropped slightly to $37.4 billion, down from $37.9 billion. Profits per share before one-time charges totaled 40 cents per share, beating Wall Street analysts' expectations of 36 cents a share.
Regionally, the Blue Oval performed strongly, as well. North America posted a record quarterly pre-tax profit of $2.4 billion, a $119 million increase. Europe also showed signs of turn around with its first profit in three years of $14 million after a loss of $306 million in Q2 2013. Ford is actually predicting profitability in the troubled region in 2015. Asia Pacific operations also performed well with $159 million in profits, up $29 million from last year. The only region where the business posted a loss was South America.
According to Automotive News, Ford also announced more precise plans about the changeover to build the aluminum-intensive 2015 F-150. In August, the Dearborn plant will shutdown for eight weeks to retool and its Kansas City plant will do the same next year.
Generation Z prefers Ford, wants better fuel efficiency
Mon, Mar 2 2015Fear not the future, dear green-car enthusiast. For the youngest drivers like good gas mileage. And they don't really like SUVs or trucks. Breathe easier. About 80 percent of drivers ages 16 to 21, part of what's known as 'Generation Z,' prefer cars more than any other type of larger light-duty vehicle, with about half of that group preferring compact cars, The Detroit News says, citing data company MaritzCX. That company polled about 1,100 prospective young car buyers and found them to put a priority on fuel economy because that group is... well, cheap. To put that demographic's vehicle choice into perspective, just a third of light-duty vehicles sold in the US last year were cars, while the rest were SUVs and trucks. So the future is bright, and possibly devoid of some of the smog we're now seeing. Meanwhile, Ford is the most popular brand among younger drivers, again reflecting that company's more recent emphasis on hybrids, plug-ins and high-fuel-economy gas-burning engines. Ford's US green car sales fell 1.4 percent last year to about 86,500 units (falling C-Max Hybrid demand pulled the American automaker's numbers down), so we'd think that this is very welcome news for the Blue Oval.
