1993 Ford Mustang Svt Cobra Hatchback 2-door 5.0l on 2040-cars
San Diego, California, United States

Up for sale is my 1993 Mustang Cobra with 57,6XX miles and teal exterior with black cloth interior. Of the 5,000 Cobras made in 1993, 1,355 were teal and only 185 were teal with black cloth, making this the rarest color combination of the 1993 Cobras. This Cobra is in outstanding condition and has been garage kept -- the excellent paint condition clearly shows this. All paint is original and all 10 VIN tags are in place. I have taken great care of this Cobra and it does not have any aesthetical problems. I can send you pictures of each VIN tag if you email me. I also have more pictures of the car I can email you. This is a very fun car to drive and rides surprisingly well on the highway. There are no mechanical problems. The AC still blows cold. The car last passed California STAR smog in 8/2013 and it should have no problem continuing to pass smog for a long time to come. Note: The only reason the AutoCheck score is low is because the car failed STAR inspection in 8/2013 due to excess fumes from the gas tank seal being worn out. I had the seal replaced and the car passed STAR inspection with flying colors. You will see these details when you view the AutoCheck. You may bid without concern. The only option this Cobra came with from the factory is the CD player (which still works). It does not have a sunroof, power seats, rear defrost, or engine block heater. When I purchased the car, it had (and still has) the following equipment: 2.5" full exhaust, including headers, h-pipe, Dynomax mufflers, and original-look stainless tips 3.73 gears with quick shifter Ram air and larger throttle body Sway bar kit (front and rear) I have added the following equipment within the past 3 years: 4x Magnaflow high-flow catalytic converters Tokico pro system suspension (shocks and springs) Nitto 555 tires (still in like-new condition) New spark plugs New rear pinion and wheel bearings A $1000 dollar deposit is required to hold the car for 48 hours. Cash or cashier's check is required in full to release the car and the title. I can drop the car off for shipping if needed. I have the original gears, the original suspension, extra floor mats, and I believe the original throttle body that I could include if you are interested. I can be reached at jcarlson4@gmail.com |

2015 Ford Mustang Convertible to recreate Empire State Building stunt
Tue, 25 Mar 2014It would have been all too easy to miss the auto show debut of the 2015 Ford Mustang convertible. It was, after all, unveiled alongside its fixed-roof counterpart at the Detroit Auto Show this past January, lumping coupe and cabrio into one debut. But Ford is evidently still intent on making its new droptop stand out. The top of the Empire State Building ought to do the trick.
Automotive history buffs may recall that, 50 years ago, Ford unveiled its first Mustang convertible atop what was then the tallest building in the world, that Art Deco icon of the New York skyline. Half a century later, Ford is recreating the feat and bringing the new topless Mustang to the same observation deck on the building's 86th floor.
Getting it up there, of course, will be no easy task. While they'd usually airlift the vehicle onto the roof or lift it by crane, the spire protruding from atop the building makes approaching the narrow observation deck too dangerous, and no mobile crane can telescope the thousand-plus feet it would take to get the pony car up there.
Ford rolls out diesel Focus ST at Goodwood [w/poll]
Sun, 29 Jun 2014If you're in the market for a hot hatch, there are some excellent choices at your disposal - especially if you live in Europe. But if you want a diesel, well, your choices become rather more limited. Volkswagen tends to that niche market with the Golf GTD (essentially an oil-burning version of the GTI available Stateside), but that's about the extent of it. The pleas of those looking for more diesel-burning hot hatch choices haven't fallen on deaf ears at Ford, with the Blue Oval not only rolling out a facelifted gas-powered Focus ST at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend, but also a new diesel version as well.
The diesel Focus ST (which we hope and pray isn't marketed as the STD) packs a 2.0-liter turbodiesel four producing 182 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque to propel the oil-burning hot hatch to 62 in 8.1 seconds en route to a top speed of 135 miles per hour. With less power and only slightly more torque, that makes the diesel Focus ST considerably slower than the gasoline one, which packs 252 hp and 270 lb-ft, runs to 62 in 6.5 seconds and tops out at 154 mph, but (in a testament to how far particulate filters have come) the diesel model cuts carbon emissions by nearly a third compared to the petrol version and returns about 50-percent better fuel economy, which makes that much more of a difference in markets where diesel is already priced better than gasoline at the pump.
For buyers who wouldn't consider anything other than a diesel, it also represents 23-percent more power than the previous top-level diesel Focus. The VW Golf GTD, for reference, offers up 181 hp (just 1 horse less), 280 lb-ft (15 fewer torques) but is somehow estimated to reach 60 in a considerably fleeter 7.4 seconds.
Consumer Reports criticizes small turbo engines for misleading performance, fuel economy claims [w/video]
Tue, 05 Feb 2013Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises. You can check out the full press release below. You can also read the full study on the Consumer Reports site, or scroll down for a short video recap.
