1965 Ford F100 Custom Cab Pickup

Full restoration with upgrades

Has to be one of the finest examples of Ford's 1965 short-bed F100, first year of the Twin I Beam front suspension. Full restoration, with overdrive transmission, wheel/tire upgrades and a spectacular all-leather interior.

Super-straight body finished in turquoise & white, with stainless-steel side spears and chrome bumpers. Steel wheels and larger-than-stock BF Goodrich T/A Radials give the truck a really good stance. Bed very clean, comes with rubber mat.

Power is a 390 V8 with lots of extra chrome in the engine bay. Stock automatic transmission works through a B&M shifter and benefits from a Gear Vendors overdrive unit. Recent addition is a new fuel tank.

Interior is a standout, with white leather bench seat and matching headliner in perforated leather. Door panels also have leather trim. Carpet is a rich green/gray wool as used in Mercedes. Dash gauges are Auto Meter, as is the column-mounted tachometer. Other upgrades include seat belts, a Sony radio/CD player and aftermarket air conditioning (latter not working at present).

This exceptionally clean truck is located in Southern California, is currently registered, and has a clear California title.

Ford will keep Escape and MKC plant open an extra week to meet demand

Thu, Jun 8 2017

Crossovers keep selling like popular pastries, and for Ford, that means it needs to keep production going. The company announced that, rather than the usual two-week shutdown, its Louisville, Ky., assembly plant will be open for one of those weeks. The plant builds the Ford Escape and Lincoln MKC, which Ford reports have had record sales. According to Ford, Escape sales through May are up 3 percent, and MKC sales are up 10 percent compared with last year. In total, the Escape has sold about 130,000 units through May, and the MKC has sold around 11,000. Keeping the Louisville plant open will allow the company to build an additional 8,500 vehicles. Ford stated that all other assembly plants will continue with the two-week shutdown as scheduled. Rolling footage of the 2015 Ford Mustang hits YouTube [w/video]

Thu, 26 Dec 2013

Just in time for the holidays: Ford took the 2015 Mustang to Route 66 to cook up rolling footage, and we've been given some of the leftovers ahead of the meal. There are no burnouts, no donuts, no revving, and thankfully, no music. It's just two minutes and 26 seconds of the new pony car running free in the desert.
So in case you needed more visualizing help, the video below will help you start imagining how you'll look in your 2014 Christmas present to yourself...

eBay Find of the Day: 1970 Ford Torino King Cobra prototype

Wed, 08 May 2013

Over the last decade or so, competition in NASCAR has led to some pretty funky looking racecars. And when the sport was still up and coming, the tight competition actually led to some interesting production cars. The Dodge Charger Daytona and Plymouth Superbird are perhaps the most well-known cars of the sport's "aero wars" era but the Ford Torino King Cobra might have been the most memorable of all, if not for some different homologation rules established in 1970. The Torino King Cobra never made it to production and never competed in NASCAR, but three examples exist including this one now for sale on eBay.
Designed as a successor for the aero-tuned Torino Talladega, the Torino King Cobra has a sleeker front end with hidden headlights and a sloped nose. As the story goes, NASCAR made a rule change in 1970 requiring 3,000 of the vehicles to be produced, which was substantially more than the 500 units required by the previous rule. One of the three prototypes ever built - and the only one built with the Boss 429 engine - is now for sale on eBay with a starting bid of $500,000. With a little more than three days left on the auction there are still no bids, but in the grand scheme of things this seems like a relatively fair price for a rare piece of automobile and racing history.
