1941 Ford 2-door
This car has recently undergone a full frame-off restoration. It only has a
little over 1,400 miles on the odometer since it was finished. It's really the
nicest '41 Ford I've ever come across, and it's truly enjoyable to drive. It
has been parked in the garage and only driven in nice weather on the weekends.
The smoothed out looks, awesome color combination, subtle hotrod queues, and
perfect stance draws attention everywhere you take it.
But don't let the 72 year old steel body fool you. Under the skin of this
beauty you'll find that literally everything has been gone through and
modernized. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere.
BODY & PAINT
Laser straight, all original Henry Ford steel body and fenders, with
fiberglass running boards.
No waves or ripples down the sides, seams and doors all line up great.
5 coats of black, then 2 coats of clear. The paint is deep and
looks like a mirror up close. Not "trailer queen perfect" because
this car gets driven, but it's really close!
Hood has been decked and nosed.
Headlights are frenched in 2", and include very unique cool looking turn
signals in the lower portion. There are also small orange running lights behind
the chrome kidney grilles that light up when the lights are on.
Hood opens by cable pull under dash.
Doors have automatic locks, actuated with the key fob (2 fobs included).
Trim and handles have been polished, and swan neck side mirrors complete the
look.
LED tail lights are frenched in 4", with integrated turn signals like a
Corvette.
Trunk opens with a pull-up cable lever located on the interior floor by the
door sill on the driver's side.
Original trunk handle has been removed and smoothed over. Only way to open it
is from the interior.
Gas cap panel has been smoothed on the exterior, and filler relocated into
the trunk.
Original license plate mount on trunk has been filled and smoothed. License
plate is now located under the car, below the trunk.
Front and rear bumpers have been removed. The mounts are still present and
are covered by custom bullet caps.
The glass has all been replaced on this Ford, and fitted with new soft rubber
trim and felts.
The windshield wipers have been removed and capped for cosmetic appeal, but
the wiper motor is all connected and works perfectly if you ever decide to put
on wipers and drive around in the rain.
INTERIOR, TRUNK, & MODERN COMFORTS
Brand new custom interior. The original '41 front and rear seats have been
reupholstered using a tasteful combination of oxblood dyed leather with suede
tuck and roll centers with red stitching.
The door panels, rear panel, headliner, and trunk were all done at the same
time and look amazing.
The floor and firewall was first covered with sound deadening matting, and
then fitted with new black carpeting and matching floor mats.
There were no dome lights on '41 Fords, so white LED strip lighting now
illuminates under the seats when the doors open. Red LED lighting illuminates
under the dash when the motor is running. Looks real classy at night.
The custom dash is just beautiful. It's all gloss black to match the exterior
and the original chrome hood trim has been custom modified and relocated. It
now serves as a vent in the center of the dash, making it very unique yet
original looking.
The single instrument gauge is a multi-function unit with speedometer,
odometer, temp, fuel, and signal indicators. It is illuminated at night and has
a dimmer.
Late model steering column, with tilt, wiper speed, high/low beam selector,
self-cancelling turn signals, and a real 8 ball on the shift lever. Also has a
cool Lucite gear indicator.
Banjo style billet steering wheel with black leather top. The chrome .44
Magnum revolver steering knob gives it that old school gangster look, and
allows you to do U-turns without taking your arm off your girl.
Horn in the center of the wheel works too.
A/C and heat and blow through the custom center dash vent, and also through
directional vents in the kick panels.
Power windows are a cool touch on this ride, and controls are on the door
panels. Note: The rear windows only go down a few inches because of the larger
rear wheel wells. Power to the rear windows is currently disconnected but the
motors and wiring are all installed.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Powered by a freshly rebuilt Chevy 350 motor. Starts every time, just like a
new car.
Edelbrock intake, Holley 4 barrel carburetor with electric choke, and
Edelbrock air cleaner.
MSD ignition, MSD coil, MSD distributor, and 8mm MSD plug wires.
Chrome headers dump into Cherry Bomb mufflers and then exit the sides. Sounds
old school kool.
Electric Derale pusher fan and mechanical puller fan.
Chevy 350 automatic transmission, 3 speed on the column, with trans cooler.
Battery is hidden from view in the trunk.
All the electric wiring is new, just as you would expect in a frame-off car.
CHASSIS, BRAKES & SUSPENSION
Original 1941 frame that has been modified and reinforced.
VIN is stamped into the frame on driver's side engine bay. Title is clean and
says 1941 Ford Deluxe. Vehicle registration is current.
Heidt's Mustang II power rack & pinion steering is effortless.
New front control arms (upper & lower), ball joints, and bushings with
adjustable Bilstein coilovers.
Front tires are 215/40-18" and rears are 275/35-20".
Four wheel power disc brakes, with emergency brake. Master cylinder hidden
under car.
Rear wheel wells have been enlarged to fit bigger tires.
Rear 4-link set up, also with adjustable Bilstein coilovers.
Ford 9" rear end, with a 3.50 gear ratio.
New body bushings.
New gas tank.
Known items to be addressed
by new owner:
- Connect Fuel float wire to gauge.
- Connect Temp sensor wire to gauge.
- Charge A/C.

picked up from my home.
Trades: Im not
desperate for cash but I could use the extra garage space. That being said, a vehicle of similar value that could be parked outside would be
ideal. A low mileage daily driver under 5 years old would be perfect. Willing to
go up or down by about $5K. I like sports cars (911),
American muscle cars (new & old, Z06, Viper), European luxury sedans (S550),
and lifted 4x4s (H1, Jeep Unlimited, Defender, FJ). I have a weekness for '69 Camaros, '70 Chevelles, and '63-67 Vettes, so I might go for that too, along with cool "sleepers" and well thought out restomods. Feel free to email offers
with pics, or any questions about the '41 to bryancgordon at hotmail dot com. Thanks for checking out my ride!

According to a pair of reports from Hearst's car mags, Car and Driver and Road & Track, Ford has a whole mess of good stuff on deck for the Detroit Auto Show in January. And it all sounds awesome. First, expect to see a hotter version of the Shelby GT350 in Detroit, likely called GT350R. Think of this as the already-hot Shelby with even more track-focused bits baked in brakes, tires, aero, etc. Everything about the GT350 sounds great, so expect this R variant to be something seriously fierce. As R&T suggests, if the GT350 is the company's new Boss 302, the R is the Laguna Seca. But that's not even close to the biggest news. Road & Track believes a proper Ford GT replacement will debut in Detroit Β a road-going version of the Le Mans GTE-class car the Blue Oval is working on for 2016. We've heard about this before, but having the street-legal car debut in Detroit would be absolutely huge news. The performance story continues, though, with R&T suggesting that the next-gen Ford F-150 Raptor will bow in Detroit. Details are scarce about what, exactly, the aluminum-bodied desert stormer will hold, but we expect good things. Finally, Ford's hot hatches might make some news in the Motor City, too. Car and Driver seems to think the all-wheel-drive Focus RS will bow in The D, and that an updated version of the Fiesta ST will also show its face. Road & Track, meanwhile, believes the Focus RS showing will be saved for a European auto show Β think Geneva Β and our gut feeling is to agree with the R&T theory. All of these rumors point to Ford officially announcing its dedicated performance division Β like Mercedes-AMG, BMW M, and so on. We've heard reports of a new, global performance brand from the company already, with the name 999 thrown out as a possibility. In any case, if these rumblings prove to be true, there's going to be a ton to drool over from Ford in January. Stay tuned.

This episode of the Autoblog Podcast features Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore, Road Test Editor Zac Palmer and Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski. The trio begin by discussing the 2022 Technology of the Year award. Ford's Onboard Scales and Smart Hitch hauling/towing tech as tested in the F-150 Lightning won this year. Why the Ford won, how testing went down and Ford's competition including the GMC Hummer EV and Genesis GV60 Β are discussed. After diving through the Technology of the Year award testing, the three take on this week's news. A mysterious vehicle based on the Corvette (that isn't a Corvette) is supposedly on its way. Audi is giving us "Performance" versions of the RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback. Plus, we discuss a recent study that provides data for the 10 longest lasting vehicles on the road today. After the news, the crew dive into the cars they've been driving this week. Greg's been behind the wheel of a Nissan Pathfinder, while Jeremy and Zac have been driving some plug-in hybrids, including the Lexus NX 450h+ and Autoblog's long-term BMW 330e xDrive. According to a Bloomberg report, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has upgraded an investigation into complaints of unintended acceleration lodged against Ford vehicles. The investigation began in June of 2010 when just three complaints had been received and it only concerned the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, but this was at a time when the phrase "unintended acceleration" made grown men go pale. With 49 additional complaints received since then, the investigation has been reclassified as an engineering analysis - the last phase before a recall - and it has been expanded to include the Lincoln MKZ, making for a total of "around 480,000" units affected between the three sedans from the 2008 to 2010 model years. The ostensible cause is that floor mats are trapping the accelerator pedal, but according to a Ford statement at the time, the entrapment is due to owners placing the optional all-weather floor mats, or aftermarket floor mats, on top of the car's standard floor mats. NHTSA has backed up that assessment, pinning the blame on "unsecured or double stacked floor mats." On the face of it, it would appear that NHTSA has upgraded the status not because of Ford's error, but owner error, and Ford has stated publicly that it is "disappointed" in NHTSA's move. On top of NHTSA still being skittish after that other unintended acceleration debacle, it could be seen to be taking its time investigating all of the variables: it's reported that Ford changed its accelerator pedal design in 2010, a "heel blocker" in the floorpan has been considered a potential culprit in how the floor mats could be trapping the pedal, some drivers have said the floor mats weren't anywhere near the pedal, and according to a report in the LA Times, in "a letter sent by Ford to NHTSA in August 2010, the automaker said it found three injuries and one fatality that 'may have resulted from the alleged defect.'"
