Garden City, New York, United States

Original owner selling very low mileage 2000 FORD WINDSTAR SE wheelchair accessible van.
  • 33k original, documented miles
  • Vantage Mobility (VMI) Northstar factory wheelchair conversion, which includes a lowered floor, in-floor power ramp, and power kneeling feature.

  • Runs and drives well (see note on transmission below), and is very clean; upholstery is in excellent condition.

  • Very well maintained; with oil changes every 3000 miles, brand new tires, new front struts/rear shocks, new battery, new front brakes, etc. Fresh oil/filter change. A/C blows cold.

  • Never been in an accident (but see pictures for minor curb damage to fiberglass panel at bottom of L/R door). Never smoked in.

  • Clean Carfax

  • Comes with wheelchair tie downs which have never been used since the van also comes with installed and fully operational EZ Lock wheelchair receiver mounted in front passenger position (costs $1350 + installation if purchased new). Note, to use the EZ Lock, you will need a wheelchair mounting bracket and bolt assembly which can be purchased from EZ Lock.

  • Also comes with the original passenger's front seat (mounted on platform) and second row captains seats (all of which have never been used). Driver's seat is also factory mounted on removable platform to enable use by wheelchair-bound driver (van has no hand controls).  Also comes with original mat set, still in original packaging.

  • Ramp is approx. 29” wide, height at entrance is approx. 54”, and height in front seating position is approx. 56”.

  • Transmission drives and shifts smoothly, except that very occasionally when first started it may initially not engage. When this occurs, it resolves in about 30 seconds after which it operates without incident. This has been occurring occasionally for over 10 years – and occurred most recently months ago – and neither Ford dealer nor transmission shop has been able to replicate or diagnose. Beyond the mild inconvenience when it occasionally occurs at start-up, it has never caused us a problem.

I have tried to describe the issues and flaws fully and accurately but, to state the obvious, it is not a new vehicle. It has the typical imperfections for its age, mileage and use. Mechanical inspection is encouraged prior to bidding, since vehicle is sold “as is” with no warranty. We are selling the van because our needs have changed. I am happy to answer any other questions before you bid. Call Dick at (516) 937-8145.

Deposit of $500 via PayPal from winning bidder must be received within 24 hours after auction ends, with balance due by bank check or wire transfer within 7 days. If either is not timely received, I reserve the right to relist or sell to another party. Vehicle is also for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction to make a local sale.

Top Gear pits Hennessey VelociRaptor vs. Range Rover Sport SVR

Fri, Jun 5 2015

As a television series, Top Gear is in limbo with an intent to return, but no hosts yet. However, it's magazine and website continue to bring us clips like this one. While the video might lack the show's charismatic hosts, this is an opportunity to see a drag race between a Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR with 550 horsepower and a Hennessey VelociRaptor with 623 hp. The duel between these two supercharged V8s definitely sounds great. Both rugged models start at the line growling angrily at each other like dogs ready for a fight. You have to watch the clip to see whether the more powerful VelociRaptor feeds on the SVR, though. The 1965 Ford Mustang could have looked a lot different

Fri, May 8 2020

The 1965 Ford Mustang is unquestionably an automotive design icon, and nearly every generation of Mustang has some connection to that original car. Because it's such a universally-known vehicle, we were amazed to see all the different designs that were being considered. Head of Ford's archives Ted Ryan recently shared photos of design proposals for the original Mustang on Twitter that he and Jamie Myler found, and we reached out to them to find out more. As Ryan initially noted, the photos were taken on August 19, 1962, and they are proposals for the Ford Mustang. Apparently Ford had committed to doing a Falcon-based youth-oriented car at this point, and it did have plans to launch the car in 1964 for the 1965 model year. But after having little success with early design proposals, the company asked all of its design studios — the Advanced Studio, Lincoln-Mercury Studio and Ford Studio Β— to submit proposals. With only about two years before the planned launch, Ford was understandably short on time, and it's believed that the studios only had a month to create and present these designs. Lincoln-Mercury design proposal View 8 Photos The majority of the designs, a total of five, came from the Advanced Studio, and part of this was because they already had a couple of concept designs in reserve it could present. Two other models representing three design possibilities came from Lincoln-Mercury, and just one model with two options came from Ford. The Advanced Studio proposals are shown in the gallery at the very top of this article, and the Lincoln-Mercury and Ford proposals are in the gallery directly above this paragraph. The Advanced Studio's most radical design is the one that was clearly related to the Mustang I concept that would be shown later that year with huge wraparound rear glass, turbine-inspired bumpers and enormous side scoops. The other proposals from the studio were more conservative, featuring simple lines, grilles reminiscent of the Falcon, and one even borrowing the jet-thruster-style taillights made famous on the Thunderbird. Lincoln-Mercury had some impressively bold designs, particularly its fastback that had buttresses to extend the shape all the way to the tail. This car had two different side trim possibilities. The other Lincoln-Mercury design was toned down a bit, but had two interesting possibilities for side detailing, as well as some crisp, low-profile tail fins.

Ford F-150 SVT Raptor sales jumping to new heights

Thu, 12 Sep 2013

Ford can't seem to build F-150 SVT Raptors fast enough. The off-road-ready trucks have been one of the Blue Oval's most reliable sellers, with record sales in eight of the last 10 months and a 14-percent jump in 2013. That's impressive enough, considering that the least expensive Raptor starts at $44,000. Factor in the modded F-150's fuel economy (it's rated at 11 miles per gallon in the city and 16 on the highway) and a national average gas price, as of this writing, of $3.55 per gallon, and its success is as unlikely as Ford's home team, the Detroit Lions, winning the Super Bowl this year (sorry, Lions fans, we're just quoting the experts in Vegas...).
Yet for some reason, Raptors spend an average of just 15 days on dealer lots before being snapped up, which is a quarter of the 60-day industry average. According to Ford's truck group marketing manager, Doug Scott, it's capability that keeps the Raptor selling strong. "What's helping drive Raptor sales is that Raptor delivers unmatched off-road performance to our customers. Raptor is also proof of our commitment to offer a truck for every customer and continuously improving them to meet our customers' evolving needs."
To address the strong demand for Raptors, Ford will bump production from three trucks per hour to five. Not much, we agree. But building an extra 48 trucks per day, at most, seems like a prudent way of addressing demand without oversaturating what is ultimately a niche market. Check out the press release below for more.
