No Reserve 1971 Ford Torino 500 Sedan Cleveland 2v 351 V8 Runs Great! Beautiful! on 2040-cars
Tallahassee, Florida, United States
Up for auction is this BEAUTIFUL turquoise 1971 Ford Torino 500 sedan. Runs and drives great! The Cleveland 2V 351 V8 engine has been well taken care of and runs smoothly and powerfully. This car DRIVES! Is mated to the smooth shifting C-4 3 speed automatic transmission. Free of frame rust!
Vehicle is sold AS-IS. Needs some bodywork as seen in the pictures. The right-rear door is a bit pushed in and the clear coat needs to be redone on some body panels. Rear bumper could be re-chromed and hood could use being redone. Also needs some touches such as the chrome striping that goes along the passenger side, passenger side mirror and a few dents and scratches removed, but if you can do it, this is soon to be up to the condition it needs to be to be a top of the line example of American Muscle. Even in the condition it is in, this Torino turns heads wherever it goes and with its potential, this car is destined to be a true collectible classic. The interior has been kept up in great condition! Check out the dash, front seat, and courtesy ceiling light that could be repaired to get this interior looking perfect. A/C needs to be recharged. Does not currently blow cold air, but fan and heater works! Turn signals are not currently working, although headlights and rears lights do work (reverse lights need to be replaced) with the flip of a an aftermarket installed switch you can see under the dash in the picture. This can be replaced with an original switch easily. Also, fuel gauge is not currently working yet temperature gauge is. Wipers are working. The drivers side lap seat belt tensioner needs you to put your finger underneath it to release the seat belt, yet some tinkering will allow it to work as it's supposed to. Has original head unit installed, in addition to an aftermarket head unit installed that blends in with the interior, professionally installed with wood trim. Speakers currently do not work but is wired to be replaced and make sweet sounds come out of your sweet ride. As far as the engine goes, the tie rods have just been replaced, as well as the lower control arms, and upper and lower ball joints. The sway bar bushings have been replaced with polyerethane and everything works perfectly! Also installed is a double roller timing chain, new points, ignition coil, plugs, as well as brake master cylinder and U-joints. The shift points could use being adjusted as can be noticed when putting in Park, Drive, or Reverse. Nevertheless, shifts smoothly and effortlessly when driving. Has all good tires plus a spare. The rear brakes do need to be replaced but the front brakes have been replaced about a month ago. I'm also including a new halogen bulb, additional new spark plugs as well as a used, working electronic distributor for the 351 engine that can replace the now, working analog distributor that's currently installed. Says over 94,000 miles but it's impossible to tell actual mileage as the working odometer only goes up to 100,000 miles. Needs some work to get this in PERFECT condition, but definitely worth it in this vehicle! Thought of keeping it myself and doing all the work, but my heart is set on saving up to buy an RV. Rare original color for a rare car, the style and sport of a muscle car and the practicality of a sedan, this car is ready to GO! Happy Bidding! |

Hurricane Sandy cost automakers 15,000 vehicles, may have ruined up to 200k
Wed, 07 Nov 2012Hurricane Sandy was the largest Atlantic storm in US history, and its total economic impact is just now coming into view. According to Automotive News, Toyota, Chrysler, Nissan and Honda are set to scrap around 15,000 new vehicles ruined by the storm. Nissan alone accounts for about 40 percent of those, with 6,000 Nissan and Infiniti models deeded "un-saleable" due to damage. The company saw 56 dealerships shuttered due to the storm, but 51 of those have since reopened.
Toyota, meanwhile, had some 4,000 vehicles at its Newark port facility, and of those, 3,000 may be scrapped. An additional 825 were dealer inventory when they were ruined. Honda and Acura dealers are reportedly sending 3,440 vehicles to the salvage yard. By comparison, Chrysler weathered the storm fairly well with 825 units destroyed, while Hyundai suffered only 400 lost units and Kia scrapped around 200.
As you may recall, Fisker also suffered some losses, and Automotive News reports the manufacturer saw 320 Karma models damaged beyond repair. Ford and General Motors have yet to come up with estimates, and no automaker has commented on the full cost of replacing the vehicles.
Ford readying dozen+ Mustang models for SEMA
Wed, 22 Oct 2014Ford is unsurprisingly bringing a herd of its new 2015 Mustang models to next month's SEMA show in Las Vegas. Over a dozen of them are arriving from top aftermarket outfits like Galpin Auto Sports, Steeda, Roush and others. The Blue Oval isn't just shining a spotlight on the V8 model, though. The new EcoBoost 2.3-liter version with 310 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque is also getting its time in the sun.
Among the shined-up ponies will be a showcar helping Galpin celebrate the Mustang's golden anniversary, with the car is covered in the precious metal. The black paint over the body has gold flecks in it, and the wheels, side sills, brake calipers and badges all match, as well. However, it takes more than something shiny to truly impress at SEMA, and Galpin's Mustang also packs a Whipple supercharger for the 5.0-liter V8, boosting the bottom line to 725 horsepower. Take that, Hellcat. There's even a window in the hood to look through, not unlike a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. The coupe also wears new headlights with LED turn signals that activate in sequence, just like the taillights, and the interior features black-and-gold Recaro seats.
Also set for its SEMA debut is an MRT showcar that takes the EcoBoost Mustang for a gallop with its TKO treatment. The black and orange two-tone car has been designed to incorporate select road racing elements. Mechanical upgrades include 14-inch brake rotors with new ducts, a Vortech air-to-air intercooler and an Air Lift suspension. The Mustang also shows off the company's products for added style and performance including a hood with integrated heat extractors and a unique front splitter.
Europe's most-wanted classic car is... the Ford Mustang?
Sat, 28 Sep 2013Over the span of its 49 years and five generations, the Ford Mustang has held a special place in the hearts of automotive enthusiasts in the US, but, as it turns out, this car is also very popular amongst European car lovers. Earlier this summer, AutoScout24 - a new and used car shopping site in Europe - polled around 75,000 European "car lovers" (not sure how they vetted the respondents) to see which cars were the most popular, and the Mustang came out on top over iconic European classics like the BMW M1 and Volkswagen Beetle.
In the whole of Europe, 37 percent of those polled dream of owning a Mustang, but that number jumps in individual countries like Austria (42 percent) and Spain (41 percent). Rounding out the top five popular classics in Europe are the Mini and Citroën 2CV. Find out which cars made up the rest of the top 10 in the press release posted below.
