1974 Ford Gran Torino 4 Door No Smog Required! Local Pickup Only!! on 2040-cars
San Diego, California, United States
NO SMOG REQUIRED! LOCAL PICKUP ONLY!! Just registered it this month but ran into a snag. So at least registration shouldn't cost you very much. Runs and all and is road ready. Is in relatively decent shape. No big dents or anything. Bought it off my cousin (used to belong to my uncle) a little less than a year ago thinking I would have time for a project, but turns out I don't. Has a 400, V8 that was rebuilt a couple years before I got it so maybe a few thousand miles on it or so. Mileage listed isn't correct, obviously. Odometer no longer works. C-4 or C-6 auto trans, I think, Crager rims w/ wheel locks, and I still have the key. I did a bunch of the steering linkage, re did some interior stuff (there's a pic of the gauge bezel I re-did), changed out all the locks, got new visor pins, had the carb. gone through by S.D. carb., replaced the rear drivers side tail lens, still have the original grille, changed the oil, etc. I swapped the seat tracks in the front, as well. The driver side was powered but the motor seized so its manual now. All the power windows still work but one gets a little sticky. It runs well but it does need some work. Could use new paint and headliner, new windshield gasket, weatherstripping, the kill switch in it needs to be replaced, there is no radio but some pretty decent speakers in the back. Definitely needs a brake booster and a steering gearbox. Both will run you around $100. I have receipts for everything I've done. It really sounds awesome when you fire it up, too. I frequently run the engine for about 15 mins at a time to keep things flowing. Doesn't get driven too much. I can send more pics upon request. Serious only, please. Thanks.

Auto critic calls out Corvette, Mustang and Cherokee faithful
Mon, 26 Aug 2013Most automotive purists fear change, but not without reason. Change, after all, did kill big-block V8s, along with most station wagons and manual transmissions. But change has also brought with it far more performance, safety and fuel economy - not to mention ridding the world of shag carpet interiors, bias-ply tires and those horrible motorized seatbelts of the early '90s.
By this time next year, the Chevy Corvette, Jeep Cherokee and next-generation Ford Mustang will all be on sale and will all, in some way, have angered or offended purists. To those critics, Mark Phelan of the Detroit Free Press is preemptively telling them to stop complaining - at least until they've all been driven. From the Corvette's square taillights and the Cherokee's radical nose to whatever pony car purists will harp on the 2015 Mustang for, Phelan's column points out the positives of automotive evolution and the negatives of staying the course for too long. That's fair enough, but do you think Phelan is on point, or all wet? Head on over to the Detroit Free Press to read his words, then have your say in Comments.
Ford Fiesta ST gets worked out on the track
Sun, 10 Mar 2013We're big fans of the turbocharged Ford Focus ST, and we're plenty excited that the Blue Oval will be offering a similar treatment on the smaller Fiesta here in the United States, too. We first saw the production-ready Fiesta ST five-door at the Los Angeles Auto Show last fall, and Ford has now released this video of a Euro-spec three-door ST being flung around the track.
But not just any track - the challenging Track 7 of Ford's Lommel Proving Grounds in Belgium. The course features 20 turns and plenty of elevation changes along its 2.7-mile loop, and David Put, a vehicle dynamic specialist at Ford, shows just how good the pint-sized Fiesta ST is at handling the lot, even getting the smallest ST up on three wheels every now and then.
It sure does look like a lot of fun, and makes us really eager for our chance to try this ourselves. Scroll down to see the hot little Ford getting busy.
