1972 Ford Gran Torino Sport on 2040-cars
Bellevue, Washington, United States
Up for auction this week is a 1972 FORD GRAN TORINO SPORT with a matching numbers drive train from the 351 Cleveland motor to the C-4 Transmission through to the 2.75 axle. Bone stock and all original this amazing automobile was taken down to bare metal and limited filler was used to get this car extremely straight. This Rust Free car was well cared for by a City of Kirkland Fire Chief for 42 years and this car shows the owner loved and cared and babied this car its entire life.
Ground down to bare metal. Metal conditioned prior to primer. Self etching primer was then applied. A PPG DP-90 sealed, then 5 coats of high build, then block sanded. 2 more coats of high build primer once again and block sanded once again. Then finish wet sanded with 600 grit prior to painting color. PPG Basecoat Clearcoat was applied professionally, have receipts to show and then the laser stripe was applied after paint had a chance to cure totally. The 351 Cleveland motor, which was rebuilt by previous owner, runs strong and tight and LEAKS NOTHING!!!!! What is that worth to you? Transmission, C-4, was rebuilt by previous owner and leaks nothing and shifts smoothly every time. Power steering, power disc brakes, new alternator, new battery and plugs and wires are also new. The gas tank was boiled and a new sending unit was installed. Some of the factory identifying tags are still on the engine, rear end, power steer pump and wiper motor. A new dual exhaust system was installed and has new quiet muffler and 2.5 inch exhaust pipes. Moving to the inside of the car, the seats are extremely nice both the front and rear. I doubt anyone has ever sat in the back seat. Door panels are scratch free and are in great condition. Dash Pad on the car is CRACK FREE!!!!!!!!!! All lights work on this car. Headlights high and low, turn signals, license plate light even works. Dash lights and turn signals all work. The windows all roll up and down freely with out any noise or grinding. Both doors up and close and lock perfectly. Both high and low wiper motor works. Heater core was replaced along with a new dash heater switch and heater resistor are new. Stock radio is present and looks great but is not hooked up but wiring for it is present. The new black vinyl top was installed professionally by the guys at Auto Dynamix in Bellevue as well as the windows being re-sealed. Top is crisp and clean and is tight on the roof. The vinyl top trim was buffed and painted to refresh the look. The trunk on the car has been restored to factory fresh appearance with factory looking splatter paint applied and clear coated to protection and durability. Both the engine and trunk compartments have been detailed and are clean. Magnum 500 chrome rims with NEW Cooper 225 70 14's are on the car with new Gran Torino center caps and new lug nuts. Car rides on these rims and tires. The chrome shine on the front and rear bumpers are still amazing looking. Maybe at one time the original owner had the bumpers rechromed OR the car had to be in a garage its entire life to still have a gorgeous chrome shine to both bumpers. Straight and clean thees bumpers even have the bumperette's on them and they look great too. The car was undercoated heavily from the factory probably since the car was built in Seattle. The undercoating has preserved the underside of the car. Original Owner must have check the box of options of heavy undercoating to the option list. This undercoating is not something out of a spray can. This car has had quite a overhauling and it shows. I can assist you with shipping transportation for the vehicle. I have used Royal Auto Transport, not to be confused with Royal Auto Movers, they suck, but Ameer and his mom run a tight ship and they will try hard to get you the best quote for your car shipping needs. Please feel free to call, text, or email me on any and all questions you may have on this breath taking car. Clint Eastwood himself would Oooooo and Awwwwww over this piece of automobile history. Be the next guy on your block to get the two thumbs up were ever you go. This car gets attention just sitting in a parking spot. Please call me at 425-454-6629 my name is Mike and i would love to chat at great lengths on this car. I've tried hard to the best of my ability to describe this car as honestly as i can. The last thing i want is someone who is not totally satisfied when they get this car. The car speaks volumes by itself. Fly in and see it or send someone to check it out. Nothing to hide here. This car is simply amazing and i hate to sell it but i cant keep them all. Thanks again for checking out this car and have a great day! |

Ford Focus Electric gets $6,000 price drop, now starts at $29,995
Mon, Oct 20 2014In early 2013, the Nissan Leaf shed a massive $6,500 from its $35,200 base price to offer a new starting price of $28,800. Since then, we have seen numerous other plug-in vehicles get smaller price tags, from the Honda Fit EV (lower lease price) to the Chevrolet Volt (around $5,000 lower) to the Mitsubishi i (a $6,130 drop). Last year, Ford lowered the $39,200 price of the Focus Electric by around $4,000, but that hasn't been enough to get the Ford EV to really compete, saleswise, with other plug-in vehicles on the market. But wait, as they say, there's more. This past weekend, Ford lopped another $6,000 from the price of both the 2014 model year Focus EVs currently on dealer lots as well as the redesigned 2015 models that are now rolling out (they're basically the same car, minus some appearance changes). Ford spokesman Aaron Miller confirmed to AutoblogGreen that the Focus EV will now start at $29,995 and said that reducing the price should make the Blue Oval's only pure EV competitive. "We hope by reducing the price we're giving consumers another reason to consider it," he said. Through the end of September 2014, Ford has sold just 1,534 Focus EVs in the US (the model sold 1,335 in the first nine months of 2013). For comparison's sake, the Nissan Leaf starts at $29,010 and sells around 3,000 units a month in the US. Miller notes that the Focus EV has been selling the best on the West Coast, and is also doing well on the East Coast. After that, he said Atlanta and the Great Lakes area also see decent sales of model's admittedly small pie. We can only assume that offering the EV for under $30,000 will make that pie somewhat bigger.
Auto critic calls out Corvette, Mustang and Cherokee faithful
Mon, 26 Aug 2013Most automotive purists fear change, but not without reason. Change, after all, did kill big-block V8s, along with most station wagons and manual transmissions. But change has also brought with it far more performance, safety and fuel economy - not to mention ridding the world of shag carpet interiors, bias-ply tires and those horrible motorized seatbelts of the early '90s.
By this time next year, the Chevy Corvette, Jeep Cherokee and next-generation Ford Mustang will all be on sale and will all, in some way, have angered or offended purists. To those critics, Mark Phelan of the Detroit Free Press is preemptively telling them to stop complaining - at least until they've all been driven. From the Corvette's square taillights and the Cherokee's radical nose to whatever pony car purists will harp on the 2015 Mustang for, Phelan's column points out the positives of automotive evolution and the negatives of staying the course for too long. That's fair enough, but do you think Phelan is on point, or all wet? Head on over to the Detroit Free Press to read his words, then have your say in Comments.
Ford Focus ST checks into Jay Leno's Garage
Mon, 23 Sep 2013In a change of pace from the high-end vehicles that often appear in Jay Leno's Garage, Ford sends its hottest hatchback (in the US, at least), the 252-horsepower Focus ST, to be featured on Leno's show. Accompanying the five-door hatch is its chief engineer, Jamal Hameedi.
Riding on stylish 18-inch wheels with summer tires and with a spoiler that doubles as a lunch tray, Hameedi and Leno walk us through the finer points of what makes the ST special, which also includes bigger brakes, torque vectoring, a manual transmission and, of course, 252 hp and 270 pound-feet of torque from the 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, which is made possible by 21 psi of turbocharged boost.
Watch the video below to see what Leno thinks of the global Focus ST.
