1972 Ford Gran Torino Sport
400 Cubic Inch 6.6L engine.

Almost everything on this car is new as of the past year and a half (over 32K invested), and I have paperwork/documentation for everything. This car needs nothing. It's not a show car, but a very nice, and reliable driver. Perfect for long road trips or getting groceries. Just repainted in the original color (Medium Yellow).

Original 400 motor (Rebuilt) Converted from 2 to 4-barrel. New carburetor, intake, cam, timing chain kit, and pushrods (All Edelbrock) New radiator, starter, and alternator. Disk brakes in front/Drums in the rear. (New Master cylinder, and brake calipers) Almost everything under the hood has been restored/replaced. Too much to list off the top of my head, but I'm happy to answer any questions.

(I still have the original intake and 2 barrel carb if you wanted to revert back to it's original set up.)

C6 Three speed automatic transmission. (Rebuilt last year) Shifts perfectly.

Working heat and AC. (Converted from R12 to R134A) Power windows (New window motors). New rear air shocks, and tires. Ride is incredibly smooth especially for a muscle car.

Interior is almost perfect. Seats have been reupholstered/re-stuffed to match original. Headliner is new. Shoulder strap seatbelts have been installed. All gages and lights work. Great sound system installed under dash so the original radio is still in place. Has a smart phone connection so you can listen to mp3's/GPS etc. Carpet is original. Looks decent, but is torn underneath the driver side floor mat.

Body is rust free with the exception of some bubbling under the vinyl roof. Which is common with vinyl tops, but the roof is solid. Exhaust was converted from single to duel by the previous owner. Sounds incredible, but pipes have some rust.

This is the same model car from the Clint Eastwood movie "Gran Torino", and its value has been increasing steadily since the movie came out. This actual car is also in a movie that is scheduled to release this year called "79 Parts". Check it out on IMDB.

Thanks,
John

'Born of a Blue Sky' brings the Amelia Island Concours to you

Fri, 03 May 2013

The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance has more clout every year and is getting a reputation as Pebble Beach minus the madness. Held in March this year, it celebrated Ducati and the 50-year anniversaries of Lamborghini, the Corvette Sting Ray, Porsche 911 and the Ford GT40.
Justin Lapriore was there, and seemingly everywhere, getting footage of the various wares on display on the lawns and the sand and the runway. The resulting video, Born of a Blue Sky, is a 16-minute survey of some of the finer sights and plenty of engine sounds. Check it out below.

Ford Escort returns... as a concept

Sat, 20 Apr 2013

Ford is kickin' it old school at the Shanghai Motor Show for 2013 with a new Escort Concept - "a name that stirs up thoughts of basic, affordable transportation rather than great driving dynamics or bold design" as we said in our initial preview of the small C-segment sedan. Or, as Ford puts it, "Customers in China described seeking a vehicle that is stylish - but not one that is arrogant or pretentious." Potato, potahto...
It's an interesting amalgam of design notes with Ford's recent and stylish hexagonal grille up front, flanked by some pretty busy LED light clusters and chrome-trimmed air intakes at the lower extremities of the fascia, but the Escort Concept is not altogether unattractive. Besides its external appearance, we really don't have much information to report - Ford has not yet hinted at what may be powering this little machine, but we'd expect something with four cylinders and less that 2.0 liters of displacement sending a modest number of horses to the front tires.
It probably goes without saying, but we don't expect to see this Escort make its way to the United States, since we already have the Focus and the Fiesta battling it out in the econobox segment. That said, it's very likely to spawn a production model that will roll out here in China and in other developing market where multiple C-segment entries are becoming increasingly common. Check out our high-res image gallery of live images above, and let us know what you think of the car's styling, then scroll down below for the official press release.

New 2020 Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator recalled for minor safety issues

Wed, Aug 7 2019

Ford has announced a small recall on 2020 Explorers and 2020 Lincoln Aviators. Select units might be missing a manual park release cover, while others might have instrument clusters stuck in Factory Mode. The recall affects 14,135 SUVs in total.  While a vehicle is in production in a manufacturing facility, Ford might put them in what is known as Factory Mode to help reduce battery drain. Affecting the instrument cluster, this mode disables warning alerts, warning chimes, and does not show the PRNDL gear selector display. Ford says one vehicle was in an accident at a production facility as a result of the issue, but nobody was injured.  Separately, Ford found that some of these Explorers and Aviators might be lacking a manual park release cover. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards require a manual park release cover that is only removable with a tool. Without the cover, there is a very minor chance the manual park release could be accidentally actuated, which could allow the vehicle to move on its own.  The recalls affect 13,896 vehicles in the U.S. and 239 in Canada. The Explorers were built between March 27, 2019, and July 24, 2019. The Aviators were built between April 10, 2019, and July 24, 2019. Owners can use Ford's recall number 19C06, and if affected, can take their vehicles in for fixes.
