Purchased this car from a local lady that had owned this car for many years. The drive train had been removed. The car was very solid with one very small hole in quarter panel and another in driver side floor pan which we replaced. Installed 351 2V Cleveland with automatic transmission from a 70 cougar. I had transmission professionally rebuilt last summer and installed all new...
-timing chain
-gears
-alternator
-fuel pump
-plugs
-wires
-repainted 2 years ago
-carpet
-dash pad
-tires on front
-magnum 500 wheels
-professionally reupholstered seats
Car has been garage kept and driven less than 100 miles since restored.  Has new headliner, still in box, needs installed. Car has absolutely no rust issues or bubbles in paint but does have some orange peel and does not shine as it should. Seems like it was not buffed and wet sanded as it should have.Don't bid expecting $30k car, but very straight and solid. Would be a great driver for summer, or sand and repaint for sharp ride. Car looks good from 20 feet but paint is not great.  Shines better in photos than in person.  I would suggest inspecting before sell ends.  Car does need attention in the following: instrument bezel is foggy, needs radio, wiper and heater work, and has exhaust leak as you can hear in the video. The reserve is very fair on this car and I have described car honestly.  I strongly suggest calling with any questions before bidding and please don't bid unless you are serious and have good feedback. Will soon be listing several more cars as I am downsizing my collection. Call (270) 866 0690 before 9:00 central time. Thank you and good luck.

These horribly misguided front-drive design studies nearly became the Mustang

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

As we eagerly await the unveiling of the all-new sixth-generation Mustang, Ford has been giving us some great information over the past few months showing what has gone into shaping its venerable pony car. As many changes as the Mustang has gone through in its 50 years, though, it appears the fourth-gen model played a decisive and pivotal role in the car's future.
As is part of Mustang lore, the front-wheel drive Ford Probe was originally developed as a next-generation Mustang in the Eighties before cooler heads prevailed. The Blue Oval has just released a handful of images showing how bad things could have been - including a full-scale clay model of a front-wheel-drive Mustang (shown above). Fortunately, the FWD Mustang plan was scrapped and Ford went to work designing a rear-wheel-drive replacement for the Fox Body Mustang, with three design studies making it far enough to become full-scale models. These include the soft "Bruce Jenner" Mustang, the over-the-top "Rambo" Mustang and the middle-ground "Arnold Schwarzenegger" Mustang, which finally became the basis for the 1994 'Stang.
By early 1991, the design language of the fourth-generation Mustang had been worked out, and the rest, they say, is history. Scroll down for the fascinating press release telling the story of the fourth-gen Mustang, and be sure to check out the gallery of horribly misguided sketches and various design studies that were all on the table in the late 1980s.

US Air Force Thunderbirds Mustang fetches $400K at auction

Wed, 07 Aug 2013

For the last six years, Ford has created a special version of the Mustang with a military aviation theme, and then donated the car to the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) to be auctioned off at the annual AirVenture event, also known as The World's Greatest Aviation Celebration. The money raised goes to the EAA Young Eagles program to inspire the "aviation pioneers of tomorrow," and this year's 2014 Ford Mustang GT US Air Force Thunderbirds Edition was won with a final bid of $398,000.
Celebrating 60 years of the USAF's Thunderbirds, this Mustang GT is the only one of its kind with a paint job matching the Thunderbirds' F-16 Falcon jets and some Ford Racing performance added on for good measure. Including this car, Ford has helped raise around $2.3 million for the charity with the biggest auction price coming from the first year of the program, the F-22 Raptor-inspired Mustang AV8R from 2008, which sold for $500,000.

Ford family keeps special voting rights

Fri, 10 May 2013

Ford Motor Company has a dual-class stock structure of Class A and Class B shares. The roughly three billion Class A shares are for the general public like you and me, while the roughly 71 million Class B shares are all owned by the Ford family. Each Class A share gets the shareholder one vote, each Class B share is worth 16 votes, the result being that Common Stock holders control about 60 percent of the company while the Ford family controls 40 percent even though it holds far fewer shares. The only way that could ever change would be if the Fords sell their Class B shares, but even so, Class B shares revert to Class A when sold outside the family, so they'd have to sell a whole bunch of them.
A contingent of Class A shareholders think the dual-class system is unfair, and for the past few years a vote's been held during the annual shareholders meeting to end it. It has failed every time, as it just did again during the meeting held this week. A smidge over 33 percent voted to end the dual system, outvoted by the 67 percent who are happy with the way Ford is going - unsurprising in view of a corporate turnaround that will be part of business-class curricula for years to come.
On the sidelines, Ford elected Ellen R. Marram to the post of independent director, the first woman to hold the job. The former Tropicana CEO and 20-year Ford board member replaces retiring board member Irvine Hockaday who helped bring Alan Mulally to the CEO position.
