This is a 1970 Torino Cobrajet with Matching number Block and Transmission, this is a TRUE "J" code Cobrajet. This restored CJ has Power Steering, Power Disc brakes and FACTORY Air Conditioning! The A/C has been upgraded to 134a. The chassis parts are new, the brake parts are new, the A/C parts are new, the power steering is new, the fuel Tank, fuel Pump, interior, radiator, wind shield and the radio are all new. Included is the DELUX Marti report and all the receipts for the restoration.
The motor is the original 429 block that is 30 over with a 460 crank and 11:1 pistons, 850 double pumper carb, hydraulic roller cam, RPM heads, long tube headers, 2.5 inch exhaust, 2500 RPM stall speed torque converter, 325 gears, MSD ignition and a completely rebuilt C6. The American Racing 500 wheels have NEW Cooper cobra tires. The original interior was ginger but I chose to got with black. I think you will agree it works. I have attempted to keep the car as original as possible while adding modern touches to improve drive-ability. The CJ starts and drives great, no issue with temperature at all. I chose to leave off the 429 badges and the Cobra decals to spur the question "What is it?" The only identification is the word Ford on the trunk lid and the script cobrajet on the shaker intake. I believe the pictures say the rest but if you have questions I will do my best to answer them.
I have about 400 miles on the restoration! I have a 100% happy customer rating on Ebay and take great pride in that! On Oct-27-13 at 20:41:46 PDT, seller added the following information: I have added some additional pictures including pre-restoration so you can see just how new this car really is. The car comes with a full size spare tire on a regular steel rim. The bumper jack and parts are there But I would never use them. A NEW in the case hydraulic floor jack is also included. The radio is retro look radio with AM FM and AUX so you can plug your ipod. The dash and two rear speakers are also new. The fan motor was just replaced! |

2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost loses big power on 87 octane
Mon, Jan 5 2015The 2015 Ford Mustang with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder is a pretty potent package on paper. With 310 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque, it boasts better performance numbers than the 3.7-liter V6, but with better fuel economy as an added benefit. However, if you're in the market for one of these boosted 'Stangs, you should probably keep in mind that it really prefers to gulp premium, 93-octane fuel. It can drink 87-octane swill in a pinch, but you're going to find significantly less power underfoot when pulling away. While it's not shocking that the ponies are dialed back with a lower grade of gasoline, an alleged page from a Ford training manual obtained by Mustang 6G purports to show just how much power is lost, though. According to this document, the 2.3-liter EcoBoost makes 275 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque when running on lower octane fuel. That's a substantial reduction of about 11.3 percent compared to when the engine drinks 93 octane. Interestingly, according to Mustang 6G, that finding was a bit better than expected, because a Ford engineer reportedly said power would be down about 13 percent without altering peak torque. In speaking with Autoblog, Paul Seredynski of Ford powertrain communications, objected to part of this document. While he couldn't confirm the specific losses listed for the Mustang EcoBoost, "torque remains unchanged" with lower octane gasoline, Seredynski said. He speculated this training manual page was "possibly from before the engine was certified" and therefore showed incorrect figures. Serendynski did confirm that the automaker recommends using 93 octane, and like all modern engines, the software adapts if it's lower. "Peak power would be reduced" by using a lesser grade, he confirmed. Did a US automaker blow the whistle on Hyundai, Kia fuel economy issue?
Mon, 17 Dec 2012In all of the most hotly contested mainstream segments of the motoring universe, the difference of one mile per gallon averaged on a widow sticker can mean the difference between a sale and a walk-off - to say nothing of two or three mpg. So, when Hyundai and Kia were forced to reveal that many of their 40-mpg ratings were actually 38s and 37s, well, it made for big news.
It also, conceivably, made for a competitive disadvantage immediately, when the Korean automakers' products were being shopped versus the guys down the block. And it's that disadvantage that makes a recent story from Automotive News so juicy.
AN is reporting that Margo Oge, former head of the Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Transportation and Air Quality, got a tip in 2010 that Hyundai/Kia were "cheating" to get its impressive fuel economy numbers. The tip, said Oge (who retired from the EPA this past September), came from a senior vice president from a domestic automaker. The source was credible enough for Oge to launch an audit of the Hyundai figures, which ultimately lead to the debacle that we reported on a few months ago, and that the Korean company has been trying to bounce back from ever since.
Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 has a bit of a dyno issue
Tue, 28 May 2013We're of the mind that each and every dyno should come with Murphy's Law painted in big, visible letters down the side. For every ten successful dyno runs out there, it seems there's one where events to horribly wrong. Take, for example, the video below. The clip shows what happens when a Ford Shelby GT500 and a mobile dyno have a bit of a disagreement at the Performance Expo 24 in Sherbrooke, Quebec. We won't spoil the results for you, but we will say there's some substantial carnage involved.
It's unclear just how much damage ensues from the dust up or whether anyone was harmed in the incident, but from the looks of things, everyone made it out without serious injury. If only we could say the same for the machines involved. Check out the video below.
