1970 Torino GT Convertible, original 302 engine and automatic transmission in good running and driving condition.  The car is currently a 'semi-daily' driver, being driven as often as possible on decent days.  The original 302 engine has been upgraded with an aluminum 4v intake and Edelbrock carburetor for increased performance; otherwise stock.  The engine smokes a bit on start-up, and that goes away when it's warm... the valve stem seals almost certainly are the culprit.  Not an issue if you don't mind putting a quart in every few thousand miles.  It runs and drives extremely well, smooth acceleration, proper strong shifts, new brakes.  The wheels are 2007 Ford GT wheels and the tires are new, too.

The body has some minor dings and scratches but is overall very straight with only very minor rust bubbles showing in one quarter panel as pictured; it just under the paint and not through the metal.  The undercarriage is clean and rust-free.  The chrome and trim is in very good condition.  The original color was Grabber Green, which is a great-looking and rare color for this car.  The current paint is sound and shiny; what might be called a "20-footer" or so.  Glass is good all around, and all windows roll up and down as they should.  All the lights, turn signals, heater, gauges, etc. work.  Again, it's a car you could use as a daily driver as-is.

The top is white and was replaced two years ago; still in great condition.  The power mechanism works as it should.  Power steering, power brakes as well.  The power steering has a leaky hose or fitting that should be addressed at some point.

Clear title with no brands or issues.  I have priced the car MORE than fairly; someone is going to get a great car for a very fair price.

While every effort is being made to describe the car as accurately as possible, it is over forty years old and being sold as-is without warranty expressed or implied.  Feel free to call me at 360-936-9257 to discuss anything you wish. Zero-feedback bidders NEED to contact me prior to bidding, please.  Shipping will be the responsibility of the buyer, and I will make myself available to your carrier for pick-up and loading.  A deposit of $1,000.00 is due within 48 hours of auction end, with the balance by cash, bank wire transfer, or certified major bank cashier's check that I can verify and wait until cleared before shipping.

On Jan-31-13 at 19:13:27 PST, seller added the following information:

I have been asked about the ride height in the rear... I had a 2" lowering block kit on the car when these pictures were taken; I found I preferred the stock ride height and removed the blocks; it is back in "factory"/stock configuration now.

Ford to add more than 2,000 jobs in Kansas City

Thu, 02 May 2013

Continued high demand for the Ford F-150, along with the addition of the all-new Transit series of commercial vehicles, has led Ford to announce that it will add over 2,000 jobs at its Kansas City Assembly Plant. At the time of the announcement, the plant boasts 2,450 hourly employees working on two shifts. All told, Ford will invest $1.1 billion in the Kansas City plant to expand truck production and begin producing the Transit series.
According to the automaker, fullsize truck sales are up 19 percent through April of 2013, leading to an additional 900 workers and a third shift of production for the F-150. Production of the Transit series will begin in the fourth quarter of this year, requiring an additional 1,100 workers. In addition, Ford estimates that a total of 18,000 jobs will be created by suppliers to its Kansas City plant to support the additional vehicle production.

Ford to cease Australian automaking operations after 90 years

Thu, 23 May 2013

Ford began manufacturing cars in Australia in 1925 with the Model T. In 2016, Ford will stop manufacturing cars Down Under, including the Falcon and the Territory SUV. Ford Australia CEO Bob Graziano has reportedly confirmed the closure of the company's Broadmeadows assembly plant and the Geelong engine plant, both in the state of Victoria. There will be 650 jobs lost at Broadmeadows, 510 sacrificed at Geelong. Of the roughly 3,000 workers the Blue Oval has in Australia, it's said it will try to retain about 1,000 of them at its R&D and product development facilities.
The writing hasn't just been on the wall, it's been a regular item in all the papers and on Ford's bottom line for years. As recently as 2003, Ford sold nearly 75,000 Falcons, but over the next four years, annual sales dropped by something like 10,000 units, and over the last two years, it has sold less than 20,000 per year. It isn't only Ford that has suffered - sales of the other large, locally produced sedan, the Holden Commodore, have also gone over the precipice, triggering the same kind of angst about Holden's continued existence. Ford is the smallest of Australia's local automakers, Holden and Toyota the others, and has posted losses of $AUD141 million last year ($136M US) and $AUD600 million ($580M US) in the past five years. Graziano said the cost of manufacturing is simply too expensive in the country, twice as high as Europe and three times as high as Asia, and there no way to make a business case for staying in the country.
In January 2012, Ford Australia announced it would stay in the country until at least 2016, but by July of the same year, most outside observers were quietly declaring that 2016 would be the last year of Ford Down Under, and even the speculation was making other observers nervous. Ford received money from the Victorian government last year to aid its refresh of the Falcon and Territory, which will continue on schedule for the 2014 model year. A front- and all-wheel-drive sedan on a global platform is predicted to replace the Falcon, with some other SUV expected to replace the Territory. The company says it still intends to expand its lineup in the country.

Show full video transcript text [00:00:00] Customers have spoken and automobile satisfaction is down in 2015. I'm Chris McGraw and this is your Autoblog Minute. The American Customer Satisfaction Index or ACSI released its updated numbers and according to the survey, new car buyer satisfaction is down for the third straight year. According to an ACSI press release, customer satisfaction with new automobiles has fallen 3.7 percent, to 79 on its 100-point scale. The ACSI report is based on over 4,100 customer surveys collected in the second quarter of 2015 Sitting at the top of the industry in customer satisfaction is Toyota's Lexus brand with a score of 84. Which was good enough to dethrone Mercedes-Benz, which fell 3% to a score of 83. Of the Big Three, Ford was the only domestic automaker to maintain overall customer satisfaction with its score of 81. General Motors slipped 3% to 79 and Fiat Chrysler had a 5% drop, registering a score of 75 out the possible 100. What's driving this trend of customer dissatisfaction? ASCI points to the rise in recalls and car prices. Where do you land on customer satisfaction spectrum? Sound off in the comments with your thoughts on the current state of car ownership and brand quality. For Autoblog, I'm Chris McGraw.
