Up for auction is a mostly all original 1970 Torino Cobra. It is numbers matching and runs and drives but will need full restoration. I say it drives but is not road worthy, it has been sitting since atleast 1986 as that is the last time it was tagged. It was originally Medium Ivy Green but has a cheap old paint job in black now. Some one put some kind of vinyle roof or maybe just the trim piece on the roof?? I have put all new brakes on it but I believe it still need needs new brake lines, can not get them to bleed. It has almost all it's original parts and has all it's orignal sheet metal. The car right now is running off a jug of gas as I didn't want to risk getting dirt in the carb. I have looked in the tank with a flash light and it looks clean but have not taken the sending unit out and looked in it that way. The car is pretty much untouched and un-molested except for a few minor things. It still had it's original Ford rotors and drums which I saved but I replaced them with another set of original Ford rotors and drums I had saved from my last Cobra. The changes that have been made are actually a plus!! It has a nice set of 429 CJ valve covers and 71 Cobra front grill and rear tail light panel Cobra emblems with correct grill mounting bracket. Also has a chrome air cleaner lid but it has surface rust. The Carb has been changed out with a rebult one sometime ago. I have included a picture of it. It has it's original alternator and starter but the water pump has been changed. It has it's original date coded Ford radiator and has mint fan shroud with no cracks or breaks!! The radiator held water into the gentelman I bought it from power washed it and hit it with the wand and poked a tiny hole in one of the cooling fins. It was missing the correct water tube for the heater core but I installed one I had and replced the old heater hose with reproduced correct heater hoses I had left over. I also replaced the generic top radiator hose with a NOS 70 429 T-Bird hose I had. I have also changed the oil and filter and the oil that came out of it looked good. It doesn't leak any oil but does have a small power steering leak. I have varified the it has it's matching numbers motor and have included a picture of the VIN stamped in the back. The block is the correct D0VE-A block and has the big A cast into the front which some say means the block has the large BOSS 429 bulk head for the 4 bolt front main cap that CJ/SCJ 4 bolt blocks do not have. It still has it's original voltage regualtor it looks like and still has it's 2 original FoMoCo high beams. It has a real nice exhasut heat shield and has it twist locks. Also still has it's original Argent steel style wheels and I have installed BRAND NEW Cooper Cobra 225/70/14 radial tires on them. The guy I bought it from wanted to keep them but I talked him into selling them to me to keep the car original. It is missing it's argent spare thou but ALL the jack parts are in the trunk. The motor starts right up and sounds great and runs very smooth. It still has it's original 3:25 N case traction lock and 31 spline axels. The list optins are as follows: C-6 Select Shift Cruise-O-Matic,3:25 traction Lock,F70X14 Belted Tires w/Raised White Letter Tires, Console, Power Front Disc Brakes, Power Steering, AM Radio, Dual Rear Seat Speakers, Color Keyed Racing Mirrors, Argent Sytled Steel Wheels. The interior is mostly all original and all there. The origianl AM radio is still intact and the console is real nice and all there the lid is cracked off but all the parts are there and I can not find any other cracks anywhere on it. The bucket seats still have nice foam but the covers are splitting. The back seat would probably clean up very nice and not need recovering. The kick panles are not broken or cracked. The dash is cracked but would make a nice core, the cluster will need to be restored. The package tray is intact and uncut with the original fabric over the original Ford rear speakers but the passenger side is a little wavy from water damage. The original carpet with the large vinyl inserts are still in it and not to bad. The car has all the typical Torino rust issues and looks worse than it actually is. The rear quaters and trunk are rusted and parts of the floor boards. The passenger side outside cowl has some small rust holes but the underneath of the inside cowl seems solid. You can grab the air vent hats and pull on them and they are solid and make no rusting metal breaking sounds. If you are familar with these cars you know what I mean. The trunk lid could be saved easily as the well as the doors. The fenders could be patched if you wanted to have all the correct date coded sheet metal. The hood could be saved but you might be better off replacing it. The frame rails and torque boxes are nice and solid. There is one small rust spot on the drivers side rear frame rail just behind the rear shackle mount. The core support is rusted but comes with a NOS one that was in trunk. The original Cobra grill is real nice with only one break on the drives side very end with no missing pieces. The body overall is pretty striaght and complete. Overall this is a nicely optioned and nice color combination big block muscle car with all the hard to find parts still intact. I do have additional pictures and can provide any additional information if you would like. You can e-mail me at vince_cernuto@kenwal.com Thanks for looking! UPDATE: I got the brakes to work and was able to drive it in and out of the barn!!

Huge, pricey trucks haul jobs and profits for the Detroit Three
Tue, Feb 5 2019DECATUR, Texas — Mickey McMaster is on his 12th pickup truck. The 61-year old farm equipment dealer in Decatur, Texas, two weeks ago treated himself to a 2019 GMC Denali for around $69,000 — a reward for long hours at work. "For me this is the Cadillac of trucks, it's a real luxury vehicle," McMaster said. "I've worked my way up to afford a truck like this and it shows that I've earned it." McMaster is the kind of customer General Motors Co is banking on as it plans to add 1,000 jobs at a plant in Flint, Michigan that will build a new generation of its largest pickups. Demand from Texas and other heartland states for big pick-ups is providing a lifeline to many workers the No. 1 U.S. automaker is laying off at plants elsewhere. The Detroit Three automakers and thousands of their U.S. workers are counting on customers like McMaster to keep buying bigger and more luxurious pickup trucks even if overall U.S. vehicle demand weakens this year, as most analysts predict. At Flint, GM will build a new generation of its heavy-duty Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierras, including luxury models that are some of the most profitable vehicles on the planet. GM, Ford Motor Co and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV's Ram division own the segment and are each doubling down with new or redesigned models launching this year. Sales of heavy-duty pickups in the United States have grown to more than 600,000 vehicles a year, up more than 20 percent since 2013, according to industry data. Prices for luxury models can easily top $70,000. GM on Tuesday celebrated the launch of a new generation of heavy-duty GMC and Chevrolet pickups at the assembly plant in Flint, Michigan, that is now building all such trucks for the company. At the same time that GM is laying off thousands of U.S. workers and planning to shutter five North American factories, Flint is hiring. The plant runs on three daily shifts, six days a week. As the new model's assembly system ramps up, the plant's capacity will increase by more than 25 percent, plant manager Mike Perez told Reuters. The Flint plant plans to add 1,000 workers, more than half of the 1,500 factory workers who have asked to transfer from plants GM has targeted for shutdown as part of CEO Mary Barra's restructuring plan. "We're bringing in 50 to 100 people every week," said Perez. Workers last week were still finishing the job of retooling the Flint factory to build the new heavy-duty trucks as part of a $1.5 billion investment project.
You can now order Domino's pizza from your Sync-equipped Ford
Tue, 07 Jan 2014
The news keeps pouring in from the Consumer Electronics Show now underway in Las Vegas, and the latest comes from Ford which has announced two new apps for its Sync AppLink system.
First up is a cooperative app launched by Ford together with Domino's Pizza that lets drivers of the former order pizza from the latter right from their car. The service allows those with Ford Sync AppLink in their car or truck and are registered with a Domino's Pizza Profile to place an order for their favorite pie using Dearborn's voice-recognition software for either pickup or delivery. Save your information in your Pizza Profile and it'll be sent to your house without even the push of a button, which strikes us as awesome a use of technology as we've ever seen.
2015 Ford F-150 spied in the rain
Mon, 10 Jun 2013Standing as quite a contrast from the spy shots of the 2015 Ford Mustang we saw earlier today, our spies also sent along these pictures of the next-generation F-150 pickup out testing in its (heavily camouflaged) full prototype body. Much of the new truck's design is hidden under the bulky coveralls, but we expect a lot of its new lines to be inspired by the Atlas concept that debuted at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.
Perhaps the biggest unknown surrounding the new F-150 is what, exactly, its body will be made of. Earlier reports have suggested that lightweight aluminum materials may be used throughout, offering a serious reduction in weight versus previous models. But Ford engineers will need to be careful, though, as they need to keep a tight rein on costs while preserving class-competitive (if not class-leading) towing and payload capacity.
On the powertrain front, the new F-150 will undoubtedly carry on with EcoBoost engines, and we'd bet on a normally aspirated V8 as well. A diesel option hasn't been confirmed, but we wouldn't be surprised to see one some time in the truck's lifecycle. Mum's the word on when the production F-150 will be revealed, but our best guess is that we'll see it at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.
