1970 Ford Torino Cobra with the numbers matching 429 Cobra Jet Engine and the numbers matching 4-speed                             This is a Real Deal Cobra Jet Car that was factory ordered with the shaker! Unlike 95% of the other Cobra's you might see, this one even has the plug on the top of the shaker. It always shocked me to see a detail like that missing on 100 point show cars, but if you look close at other Cobra's they are typically absent. This is my business partner's car, so I allowed him to list his gem on my account. He has written the description from this point on, and he will be answering all the questions personally. It is with much regret that this one is going to leave my personal collection, since this is one of the finest cars I've ever owned. I purchased this incredible Torino Cobra out of New Jersey back in 2004, so I've owned it for nearly a decade. I left the decal from the New Jersey Turnpike on the drivers side of the windshield that expired in February of 1985 to show when the last time this car was on the road on a regular basis. It went into storage right after that until I made the purchase. The title is open, clean, and clear issued in the State of Illinois in my name from where I am originally from. I always kept this Cobra in underground heated storage, since the day I bought it until now. An elderly gentleman had previously owned it, and I had been looking for a Genuine Calypso Coral Cobra Jet Torino with a 4-speed for many years, so I know just how hard it is to find a documented Calypso Coral model, not one that was just painted to look like one. This true Cobra comes with the factory build sheet in very good condition as shown in one of the pictures. I also have a Deluxe Marti Report to verify this car to be exactly what it appears to be. The only items that appear different than the way this Cobra rolled out of the factory are the wheels, and the stereo to the best of my knowledge. I just felt the need to place Magnum 500's on this bold muscle car. I have always thought these Magnum styled wheels really make the car. There are four brand new center caps, and all new lug nuts to really set off the wheels. I did enclose all four original steel wheels painted in their original Calypso Coral with the poor man hub caps in case the new owner would like to put it completely back to its original look. I don't have the original AM radio, but those are very easy to find at local swap meets or eBay at very reasonable prices. I'm pretty sure the correct year AM/FM was put in place of the factory AM radio, and it still works very nicely. That switch was made prior to my ownership. I had always planned on making this Cobra into one of the 90 Twister Special's made out of Kansas City, but as time went on all of my friends and family talked me out of it. They said cloning this gem would deflect from its authenticity, but since I had already purchased the Twister Special decals, I will offer them to the winning bidder for an additional $500 if they so desire. That would include installation. Anyone interested can go on-line at twisterspecialregistery.com to see exactly was the Twister Special stripes look like. I know anyone looking at this auction knows how rare a True 1970 Calypso Coral Cobra Jet Car is with a 4-speed. The paint was faded, and the body was virtually rust free when I first made the purchase. I will include a picture of this Cobra that shows exactly how I received the car. That snapshot will be given to the winning bidder enclosed with all the documentation. I refreshed the near perfect body with a very nice drivers quality paint job. Some people may even consider it to be show quality, because the body is virtually laser straight. I can't see anyone being disappointed. This car draws huge attention wherever you go. The only other Cobra I know of is the red one owned by my younger brother, and a guy from the Illinois Western suburbs that is Torino crazy who owns a yellow one. That's how rare this car is. You just don't see any Cobra's anywhere. I've never even seen one at any of the local car shows. I was always a 442 guy, but when I saw this beauty up for sale I worked very hard to arrange a deal. Upon arrival I had the entire clutch assembly replaced with all JEG's high performance parts including the clutch plate, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing. Also recently replaced were the starter solenoid, voltage regulator, and the master cylinder. There is a new battery, wipers, air filter, spark plugs, rotor, distributor cap, and a fresh oil change to prepare this Cobra for sale. The suspension is very good, and this Cobra shifts, drives, and stops very well. The dual exhaust is in good condition, and this Cobra sounds incredible. It does not have any of the rattles like these 43 year old cars tend to have. It really handles the road awesome, and when you're looking out the windshield at the shaker, it's hard to explain unless you've driven one before. I always made sure everything was taken care of on this Cobra to make certain it was kept in tip-top condition. I have never been able to truly enjoy this car, because I've only driven it for less than 500 miles, since I had never planned on selling it. Some lucky winner is really going to get a special car. The original owners manual is included in the glove compartment. The mileage showing can not be verified, but I was told it is absolutely original including the Factory Original Numbers Matching Cobra Jet Engine, and numbers matching Hurst Close Ratio Four-Speed Manual Transmission. This car was always well taken care of, and I believe the next owner will continue to do so. The trunk even has its original cardboard cut-outs on the sides, and the original trunk mat. There is an old school Douglas Grab-N-Go raised white lettered tire for a full size spare that came with the car when I got it. It still holds air well. The original jack has been detailed and remains in place with the factory mounting hardware. The inside of the trunk lid still has the original factory paint decals, and all of the decals under the hood are originals. The interior is in very good condition as shown in the pictures. There are no cracks in the dashboard, and all the glass is in good condition. I believe all the glass is original to the car. All six original sets of seat belts are still present and in good working condition, so the entire family can go out Muscle Car Cruising. The family that cruises together, stays together. This Cobra sits on a nice set of 15 inch B.F. Good Rich Radial T/A raised white lettered tires. It was built on April 8th of 1970 in the Atlanta Branch of the Ford Motor Company. It was sold brand new from Mullane Ford in Bergenfield New Jersey. It came with factory power steering and manual brakes. All of the chrome is original to the car as far as I know. I would rate it as drivers quality or better. I replaced the chrome twist downs with very nice ones, because the originals did not match the beauty of the hood. I also replaced the Cobra Jet chrome on the shaker after the shaker was restored. This Cobra has original FoMoCo Cobra decals, not some less expensive aftermarket reproductions. The Ford envelope that those decals came in will be included with the other paperwork. The 429 fender emblems are also brand new. The paint was done with three coats of DuPont Calypso Coral basecoat followed by three coats of a very expensive clear coat. The hood was finished with The Barrett-Jackson restoration system made by Sherwin Williams in Hot Rod Satin Black single stage paint to give it the proper Matte Black finish. I was always going to keep this car, so I wanted to use the best quality materials. This has been a very precious muscle car to me, but I have some pressing financial issues which are causing me to part with it. The Nada Classic Car Price Guide that anyone can look up on-line has the 1970 Ford Torino Cobra with the 429 Cobra Jet engine and a 4-speed valued at $61,235 in high condition, $37,185 in average condition, and $16,650 for a piece of junk needing a complete restoration. It would not take that much to bring this sweet Cobra up to Barrett-Jackson standards where these cars have shown to bring close to the six figure range in recent years. The Historic Automobile Group International made the statement that the classic car market has appreciated an average of 13% every year since 1980. These genuine numbers matching Big Block cars with an original 4-speed have shown to consistently increase in value with each quarter. This Cobra has great investment potential! Whether you had one as a youth and would like to recapture that glory, or you just want to drive around your bank account while your investment grows, this may be the Cobra you've been dreaming of. It's time to enjoy life while your money grows. I tried to take the best pictures possible, so every potential bidder can make the most informed decision before placing their bids. What you see is exactly what you get! If you feel there are any other questions about anything I may not have covered in this description, then please ask. I pride myself in answering every question in explicit detail with the utmost honesty. This Cool Cobra is being offered at "No Reserve" on a quick 3-day auction ending Sunday evening at 8pm Eastern time, 7pm Central time, and 5pm Pacific time. Thank You for taking the time to view my auction. Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!

2016 Ford Focus RS leaked ahead of official debut

Tue, Feb 3 2015

We won't officially see the new Ford Focus RS until the Blue Oval shows it to the world at an event on Tuesday, but here it is ahead of time, courtesy of the folks at Evo. As you can see, this is one hot little hatch, and if Evo's story is to be believed, those aggressive looks will be backed up with some pretty serious performance. Power is said to come from Ford's 2.3-liter EcoBoost inline four-cylinder engine, though the magazine's estimate of 250 horsepower seems awfully conservative to us (considering that's less than the current Focus ST). If earlier reports are to be believed, we think the RS will come packing more like 300 hp, if not more. For the first time, the Focus RS will use all-wheel drive with brake-operated torque-vectoring, and Evo says that up to 70 percent of the engine's power can be sent to the rear wheels. Hitting 60 miles per hour will reportedly take less than five seconds. Otherwise, it's business as usual, with a mean-looking exterior complete with the necessary aero bits (notice that wing!), and inside, we can see a beefy set of Recaro chairs. That's really all we know for now, but stay tuned for more when the Focus RS makes its official debut in the not-too-distant future. Related Video:

Ford Transit Skyliner Concept is a Gulfstream for the road

Sat, 12 Apr 2014

If you are afraid to fly or just want to arrive at your ultimate destination in absolute comfort, then the Ford Transit Skyliner concept might be the perfect vehicle for you. Built by Galpin Auto Sports and based on a 2015 Transit, the van is basically a private jet on wheels. It even has a touch of Transformers about it with the ability to switch between four modes by pressing a button in a smartphone app.
Based on the long wheelbase, high-roof model with 487 cubic feet of cargo space and 6 feet, 9.5 inches of interior height, the Skyliner has movable captains chairs that shift around among four modes. In theater mode, the seats turn and recline to face a 52-inch retractable movie screen with 7.2 surround sound. For business, a motorized table unfolds, and the chairs gather around it. There is a mode for tailgating where the door opens four-feet wide, and, when traveling, passengers can recline back with footrests that extend for maximum comfort.
To make the ride even plusher, there is a satellite and media server to meet your entertainment needs, and there is even a built-in bar in the back. If this Ford had a bathroom, you could live in it. Of course, you would need to hire a driver to enjoy all the amenities in the back.

Ford Fiesta banned from SCCA autocrossing because of rollover risk

Wed, Jan 14 2015

Autocross can be a great way to break into motorsports, especially at SCCA events that allow run-of-the-mill, street-legal vehicles to be run through the cones in parking lots across the country. But while a wide array of vehicles are eligible, not every one is. And now the Ford Fiesta has been removed from the list of qualifying vehicles in the Sports Car Club of America's Street category for solo events. The removal of the Fiesta was publicized in the latest issue of the SCCA's Fastrack News bulletin, which stated that, due to roll-over risk, Fiestas "do not meet the requirements and are to be removed" from the HS category of eligible vehicles. H Stock (or HS for short) is the lowest category of vehicles certified by the SCCA for use in sanctioned events. The disqualification applies to Fiestas from the 2011 model year onwards, and does not apply to the Fiesta ST, which remains eligible. Of course the Fiesta isn't the only model deemed ineligible for SCCA autocross events. According to Jalopnik, other small hatchbacks and crossovers including the Dodge Caliber, Fiat 500, Scion xB and iQ, Nissan Juke and Mini Countryman are also prohibited from competition. We've reached out to both Ford and the SCCA for clarification on the issue, and will issue an update if and when we receive any substantial information.
