1970 Ford Cobra Fastback. Shaker 429cj Engine. 31 Spline 4 Speed. Console..nice on 2040-cars
Lake City, Florida, United States
For sale today is a desirable 1970 Torino 429 Cobra. Car is a beautiful example of Ford muscle. Lots of history to these Torino's as they are getting scarce.
IMPROVED in many ways by installing a complete rebuilt genuine 429 Cobrajet engine along with her 4 speed factory 10 spline, 31 spline toploader close ratio, heavy duty output, all taken from a shaker J code 429 cobrajet Torino that was used for racing. Engine is the Cobrajet D0ve-A model with DOOE-R CJ heads. CJ manifold. Cobrajet Radiator. Cobrajet fan. The carburetor is the original Quadrajet 4 barrel. Cobrajet exhaust manifolds....nice. ITS ALL THERE The car itself came to us stripped and the owner pretty much completed all the body work. For the most part there is no more body work needed anywhere on this car, just some cosmetic touches. Floors were redone, as well as body panels. Frame rails are all good. Original CALYPSO CORAL paint with one repaint. Has all glass and windows. Original interior with console. Has a Hurst shifter hooked up. Has its shaker top and scoop. Had to pry the Original 429 Quadrajet carburetor off the CJ intake when we got the engine...nice VERY ORIGINAL. Even has some original Torino 1970? FIRESTONE whitewall tires and painted rims which we kept on for authenticity. Needless to say tires will need replacing. Car also comes with rare under dash Frigette air conditioning unit. As you can see we stripped the engine to clean it up and rebuild. We verified all the parts to make sure it is all Cobrajet, down to the pistons. Please see video for verification. Vehicle has a Hurst shifter to go with the 4 speed toploader transmission. Transmission spins freely. The car is very desirable and is an easy car to take to the next level. Since it does need some finishing touches but everything is there to take to the next level we are offering this at NO RESERVE so the HIGH BIDDER will win. . We wanted to give the winning bidder some flexibility on the final price so NO RESERVE... HIGH BID gets it. We do have the 429 CJ emblems and stickers we will place on the car before it gets to the next owner. Original exhaust will be in place. This is a louver car. We dont have the louvers but the brackets holes are still intact. We may have a contact for a pair of louvers I can put you in touch with. It will come with all window trim & extra Torino pieces. These Torino's are collectors items. Here is your chance to get one for a NO RESERVE price. We do have it offered for sale a couple other places so we reserve the right to end the auction at any time. We would entertain worthy offers to end the auction early. Feel free to call with any questions. 38six-843-333four. We can help with loading and shipping anywhere in the United States or overseas for the lowest price possible. We have contacts at Central Dispatch where you will pay NO DISPATCHER FEE, only drivers actual cost. Don't hesitate to ask for more pictures. We will be posting a few more later in the auction as we get them. Payment is a $500 deposit at auction end. Balance to be paid in 3 days of auction end. Possible exceptions given AHEAD of time if asked. Pickup is preferred within 2 weeks. We can help with shipping as mentioned earlier. All payments non-refundable. Sold as-is, how-is with right to inspect. Thanks for looking. |

First Ford Mustang prototype shots caught by legendary spy shooter Jim Dunne
Fri, 12 Apr 2013You know how people refer to someone as having "been around the block" to mean they're very experienced? Well, when it comes to automotive spy photography, Jim Dunne actually laid down the concrete slabs of the block's sidewalk. The unforgettable Dunne more or less invented the car spy game - a fact he cemented by writing book called Car Spy - and has been delivering spy shots and reporting on the industry for some 45 years now. (He also once employed this writer as his impromptu personal chauffer on a Volkswagen trip in Germany, while he slept, but that's a story for a different time.)
In any event, Dunne must be on a mission to prove that "elder statesman" doesn't also mean "washed up" as it is his shots of the upcoming new 2014 Ford Mustang that we've been handed by our friends at KGP Photography.
Mr. Dunne has likely spent the last few years obtaining powerful telescopic lenses, as the Ford in question has clearly been photographed from some distance. Nevertheless, what you see here is visual evidence that the sixth-generation Mustang has moved beyond the mule stage, and is now testing in proper prototype form. Sources indicate that there are production-spec body panels under that baggy canvass dress; but the slightly less bulky silhouette of the new car can be just made out. While the car's bumpers have been removed to obfuscate things, we can tell by way of the camo's apertures that the car's taillights have moved upwards and towards the lip of the tail. A fender vent appears to be visible, too, just behind the front wheel.
Inside Ford's high-tech climate chamber
Sat, Dec 27 2014There are two ways an automaker can test its vehicles in extreme climates: it can send said vehicle around the world – from Death Valley to the Arctic Circle – in search of the harshest weather, or it can recreate those conditions in an enclosed environment. We're sure that many automakers undertake some combination of both, but in this latest video clip, Ford shows us around inside it's state-of-the-art climate chamber. At its Driveability Test Facility in Allen Park, MI – inaugurated in 2010 just across the street from the Roush Technology Center – Ford can simulate all sorts of extreme conditions. It can drop the temperature down to -40 degrees Fahrenheit or raise it up to 130, and take it up to a simulated 12,000 feet above sea level or drop it down to 280 feet below. blast it with 150-mile-per-hour winds. It can control the level of humidity, approximate the intensity of the sun and even blast the test vehicle with artificial snow, just like your favorite ski resort. The facility strikes us as an engineering feat as impressive as some of the vehicles it's used to test, but don't take our word for it – scope it out for yourself in this brief two-minute video clip, which even includes some helpful tips for winter driving this holiday season and beyond. Ford to show special edition Raptor on April 9
Mon, 01 Apr 2013There are precious few details, but what we do know is that Ford will be revealing images of "appearance upgrades" for a special-edition 2014 F-150 SVT Raptor on April 9. The slideshow will happen during a Motor Press Guild luncheon at Ford's Design Center Showroom in Irvine, California.
Without photos or further details, we're left to wonder about the extent of these changes, but aren't expecting anything too significant given the venue. Ford is understood to be revealing a next-generation F-150 with a big weight loss - as much as 700 pounds - for 2014, though it isn't yet clear if that's the truck's model year or simply its on-sale year. For at least a couple of years, Ford forums have been suggesting changes will come with the 2014 Raptor, so there could still be a bigger surprise in store. Either way, we'll know what all this means in a little more than a week. The press release below has the official details, but for the moment, we'll content ourselves by ogling the 2013 model above.
