This is your chance to own a very rare 69 Torino Cobra Jet fastback that is 1 of only 141 ever produced with this trim/color package. The Cobra is complete and original from bumper to bumper and still has it’s numbers matching 428CJ Ram Air engine and cruis-o-matic C6 transmission.
The Cobra began its life in Kansas City where it was shipped to the famous Vel’s Parnelli Jones Ford in Torrence California. It was optioned with the 428CJ, C6 transmission, power steering, power brakes, am radio, rear seat speakers, tinted glass and even smog control to meet California regulations. There were 456 Raven Black Cobras produced in 69. But, the rarest option for this car was the visibility group trim options, that included the chrome side molding and GT wheels that are still on the car today. There were only 141 Cobras produced with these options. Along with the visibility package, the Cobra was produced with Black vinyl/black broadcloth interior bench seats that are still present in the car. It also has the woodgrain dash option. This rare Cobra was ordered with all the bells and whistles.
The Cobra stayed in California for much of its life where I believed the original owners traveled a lot of California as the original maps and post cards from the 70s are still with the car and included with the sale. At some point, it made its way to Tennessee which is where it is today.
I have the title, build sheet, owners manual and complete Marti report to verify the options on the Cobra.
The 428 Ram Air engine is complete and will start and run without smoking. All the accessories (power steering, air compressor, smog pump etc..) are still present as well as the original Ram Air cleaner. The original autolite 715 CFM carburetor is still on the Cobra. It appears the engine has been maintenanced throughout its life, but never tampered with. The intake tag is still present and the Cobra still has the yellow top ignition coil. The C6 cruise-o-matic transmission is the correct transmission with the steel rear transmission housing. The car was equipped with a 3.00 nine inch rear.
As for the body of the Cobra, it is an extremely solid start to a restoration. There is rust at the bottom of each quarter panel, but it has not rusted to the trunk drop offs. All the rockers, doors and fenders are completely rust free. The roof is in excellent condition with no rust around the factory glass. There is a dent in the right front fender, but would be easily worked out. The original Ram Air hood and scoop is present and rust free. The right hinge area of the hood has some bending from opening and closing and will need some attention, but is not rusted. The floor pans are in excellent condition and will not need any patching. The is a small spot, about the size of a half dollar, directly below the gas pedal on the toe board area that has rust, but that is it inside the car. The deck lid will need to be replaced as the lip is rusted through. The worst rust area on the car is the driver’s side cowl area and will need attention.
The front and rear seats are in the car and has the original black vinyl/black broadcloth material. The dash pad is in perfect condition without cracks. The headliner will need replaced but the bows are there. The car does not have door panels, package tray or sail panel moldings. The glass is all there and not cracked or faded, fogged. All the trim is on the Cobra with all the Cobra badging and in decent shape, including the front and rear bumpers.
This is an excellent example of an extremely rare car that is an excellent candidate for a great restoration and a chance to own one of the rarest Torino Cobra Jets still around today.
Feel free to contact me with additional questions as I will answer everything to the best of my ability. I do have the car posted locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early. A deposit of $1000 will be required within 24 hours of the auction ending and the remainder due in 7 days. Do not miss this great opportunity to own a truly rare classic.

The 1965 Ford Mustang could have looked a lot different

Fri, May 8 2020

The 1965 Ford Mustang is unquestionably an automotive design icon, and nearly every generation of Mustang has some connection to that original car. Because it's such a universally-known vehicle, we were amazed to see all the different designs that were being considered. Head of Ford's archives Ted Ryan recently shared photos of design proposals for the original Mustang on Twitter that he and Jamie Myler found, and we reached out to them to find out more. As Ryan initially noted, the photos were taken on August 19, 1962, and they are proposals for the Ford Mustang. Apparently Ford had committed to doing a Falcon-based youth-oriented car at this point, and it did have plans to launch the car in 1964 for the 1965 model year. But after having little success with early design proposals, the company asked all of its design studios — the Advanced Studio, Lincoln-Mercury Studio and Ford Studio — to submit proposals. With only about two years before the planned launch, Ford was understandably short on time, and it's believed that the studios only had a month to create and present these designs. Lincoln-Mercury design proposal View 8 Photos The majority of the designs, a total of five, came from the Advanced Studio, and part of this was because they already had a couple of concept designs in reserve it could present. Two other models representing three design possibilities came from Lincoln-Mercury, and just one model with two options came from Ford. The Advanced Studio proposals are shown in the gallery at the very top of this article, and the Lincoln-Mercury and Ford proposals are in the gallery directly above this paragraph. The Advanced Studio's most radical design is the one that was clearly related to the Mustang I concept that would be shown later that year with huge wraparound rear glass, turbine-inspired bumpers and enormous side scoops. The other proposals from the studio were more conservative, featuring simple lines, grilles reminiscent of the Falcon, and one even borrowing the jet-thruster-style taillights made famous on the Thunderbird. Lincoln-Mercury had some impressively bold designs, particularly its fastback that had buttresses to extend the shape all the way to the tail. This car had two different side trim possibilities. The other Lincoln-Mercury design was toned down a bit, but had two interesting possibilities for side detailing, as well as some crisp, low-profile tail fins.

2022 New York Auto Show Roundup | All the reveals, reviews, pictures

Fri, Apr 15 2022

NEW YORK — In case you missed it, the New York Auto Show took place this year after being canceled in both 2020 and 2021 due to Covid. A lot of manufacturers showed up in force, but not everybody did. No matter, we were there, and we brought you news, photos and scoops from the floor throughout the show. All of our New York-related stories can be found at our central hub here, but if youÂ’d rather just get a small taste of everything in a quick and digestible format, keep scrolling. 2023 Kia Telluride and its new X-Pro trim Kia revealed the TellurideÂ’s first major refresh at New York, and it makes the three-row crossover a little bit more desirable without screwing up what we liked about it before. ThereÂ’s a new X-Line and X-Pro trim for someone who might want a little more off-road capability, and a number of tech improvements. Most notably, a newly-designed dash features new and bigger screens. 2023 Hyundai Palisade The TellurideÂ’s sister car from Hyundai was treated to a similar refresh. Like the Telluride, Hyundai gave the Palisade a slightly revised look, a new off-road trim (called XRT in the PalisadeÂ’s case), more tech inside and a new dash design with full-width air vents. If we had to choose, weÂ’re a little more impressed with the TellurideÂ’s refresh, as a number of us on staff actually prefer the pre-refresh Palisade styling over the new one. 2023 Jeep Wagoneer L and Grand Wagoneer L This one was inevitable. Jeep revealed the longer, roomier versions of its Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer in New York, and theyÂ’re designated with an “L” at the end of their names. Total length grows by a foot, and the wheelbase goes up by 7 inches versus the standard Wagoneer models. Jeep has essentially allocated all this extra room to the cargo area, as it now offers a staggering 44.2 cubic-feet of space behind the third row. Besides the L, Jeep announced that its new Hurricane inline-six engine would find its first home in the Wagoneer. Efficiency gets a small boost, and power is more than sufficient at either 420 horsepower (standard output) or 510 horsepower (high-output version) from the twin-turbo I-6. Chrysler Airflow Graphite Concept The Stellantis party continues with Chrysler and its slightly revised Airflow. Re-styled for the New York market after initially debuting at CES in Las Vegas, the Airflow Concept gets new paint, changed accent colors, a slightly changed interior design and a new interpretation of the Chrysler logo.

2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost already hitting 12-second quarters

Sun, 28 Sep 2014

The arrival of a new Ford Mustang means many things to many people, but not least of them is drag racers. The pony car has always been a mainstay of the drag strip, and the Ford Racing team aims to carry that reputation forward with this latest generation. So it cooked up a few basic modifications on three new 'Stangs and headed to the strips at US 131 and Milan Dragway to see what they could coax out of 'em.
Impressively, the 5.0-liter V8 Mustang GT with a few modifications (but no forced induction) managed to clock a quarter-mile time of 11.77 seconds. Another Mustang GT fitted with a supercharger clocked a blistering 10.97 seconds. But just as intriguing was the modified EcoBoost model that, with only four cylinders and 2.3 liters of displacement, still passed the gates in just 12.56 seconds - nearly half a second better than expected. This with modification limited to a new subframe, half-shaft, drive shaft loops, exhaust, engine calibration, slicks, roll cage and bucket seat. Well done, boys.
