Cobra Jet, 1 of 660, back in 1968, today? 1 of ??? remaining. She is was delivered to the famous west coast "Galpin
Ford Dealer", special ordered by the owner as a showroom floor center piece. This was the only 1968 1/2 Torino GT
Fastback Cobra Jet inspired model to be ordered and sold at Galpin Ford, order type (see Marti Report) was "Basic
Off-Standard Equipment" Marti Auto-works describes this as...."It means Ford ordered and built this car without
someone having pre-ordering it" that is the (basic part), but they (Galpin Ford) put options on that were not very
common (that's the Off-Standard Part), such as 428CJ, 3.91 Traction-Lok Axle Ratio).
The Torino has all of its original paperwork, and when I say all of it, I mean all of it, you name it she has it
including copies of canceled checks for deposit purposes, temporary owners card as well as the dealer mailed owners

Reflecting on the Ford GT on its 10-year anniversary
Thu, 10 Apr 2014Ten years ago, during the bright-eyed enthusiasm of the early 2000s and before the collective automotive industry did its best Titanic impression, we had the Ford GT. An everyman's supercar like there'd never been (remember, this was before 638-horsepower Corvettes were a thing), the GT arrived with a supercharged, 5.4-liter V8 that produced 550 horsepower and graced this retro-styled rocket with an easy, sub-four-second sprint to 60 miles per hour.
Equal to the GT's performance were its looks. Inspired by the GT40 racers that dominated Le Mans and bested Ferrari in the 1960s, the sleek, low, almost-reptilian look of the GT was the absolute pinnacle of the retro styling that so defined the early 2000s.
Crank and Piston put together a video celebrating the ten-year-old GT, arguing that Ford is a bit too busy with the next-gen Mustang, which turns 50 next week, to do it themselves. In the short clip, there is gratuitous engine noise and supercharger whine, not to mention scenes of the white-on-red GT prowling the deserts and streets of Dubai. NHTSA and Ford investigating steering issues in Crown Vic, Grand Marquis and Marauder
Fri, 11 Jul 2014There may be more steering woes for the Ford Crown Victoria. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a preliminary evaluation into the Crown Vic and Mercury Grand Marquis from the 2004 to 2007 model years and the Mercury Marauder for the 2004 and 2005 model years because the steering shaft can jam. The issue could potentially affect an estimated 500,000 vehicles.
According to the regulator, there is a possibility that the driver's side heat shield for the exhaust manifold can rust, dislodge, and then wedge into the steering shaft. If this occurs, it leads to a situation where the driver can no longer control the car.
NHTSA has received five complaints of this happening, including one alleged case with an injury. In that situation, the car was driving onto the highway, lost control and rolled over. One occupant was hurt in the accident.
