Beautiful Convertible | 41k Mi | Two Owner | Near Perfect | Soft + Hard Tops on 2040-cars
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
Thunderbird Blue Exterior Midnight Black & Thunderbird Blue Leather Interior Beautiful & Unmolested | 41k Miles | Rust Free CA/NV Car | 2 Owner | Clean NV title Please read this entire listing before bidding or sending queries. You are bidding on the exact beautiful 2002 Ford Thunderbird shown in the photos. There are 24 photos here, so please inspect all and enjoy! This beautiful Ford Thunderbird roadster is now available for a discriminating driver. With only two owners and 41k-ish original miles, this Ford comes in the delightful retro Thunderbird Blue (turquoise) color over a two-tone leather interior (black over blue) with aluminum accents. This Thunderbird has an impressive AutoCheck score of 91 -- well above the high range of 71! This car has been owned by two adult women from new. It was purchased new in California, and the current Nevada owner purchased it in 2008 with only 4284 miles on it. This current owner is a friend and neighbor, who is now raising two young children and driving a larger car. Note that the Thunderbird is being driven to and from work by her husband so the mileage will vary slightly from the listing and the odometer photo. This Thunderbird has a color-matched factory hardtop as seen in the photos, and includes the top removal tool. The original owner stated she never had the hard top off, and the current owner never did either until the top was removed for these photos and inspection of the factory folding top. As the photos show, the folding top is in essentially as-new condition, as one would expect considering it has never been up. The sale includes the hard top, tonneau cover, custom Thunderbird floor mats (as well as factory originals), and dash cover. Also on hand is a rolling cart for hardtop storage, and will be included if the new owner wants it and takes responsibility for its transportation. This gorgeous Thunderbird is rare, even more rare in this outstanding condition, and rarer still in this color (7406 manufactured). Its driving experience is exceptional: the rear-wheel drive is perfect for this cruiser; the smooth, Jaguar-designed AJ-30 3.9L DOHC V8 and 5-speed automatic transmission powers it from 0-60 in 7 seconds; at 60MPH it turns at a relaxed 2000 RPMs. It's hard to find that kind of smooth, powerful driving experience in a roadster anymore particularly in this price range. This fabulous Ford starts properly, idles smoothly, accelerates like a V8 should, and drives, turns, shifts and stops properly. It has zero leaks, everything works as it should, and it sports recent matching tires (around 10k on them) and new brakes. It truly looks, feels and drives like a new car. Inspections welcome and encouraged; come see for yourself. Recent professional maintenance includes: • battery replaced by Ford dealership, Mar 2011 • door lock actuators replaced, Nov 2012 • tires replaced, Jan 2013 (31,185 mi) • valve cover gaskets replaced, Feb 2013 (39,276 mi) • front and rear brakes serviced, Mar 2014 (39,991 mi) This 11th and final generation Thunderbird can be enjoyed as a coupe with the hard top on, or as a convertible with it off (soft top is folded down and hidden when hard top is installed; we have the tonneau cover for when the soft top is down as well). Around town, this car is comfortable, manageable, easy to drive, quiet and smooth. Get her on the open highway and she is powerful and rock solid at speed. I would get in it and drive it anywhere. This is a wonderful car and an excellent opportunity to own a low mileage, well-cared for, ready-to-drive modern American classic. DRIVETRAIN/MECHANICS: You have nothing to concern yourself with. Starts, idles, and runs excellent. The car has a smooth shifting 5-speed automatic mated to a 252HP 3.9 liter V8. It is smooth, powerful, runs perfectly quiet, and has zero leaks. All exterior lights work, the tires are excellent, the steering is light, tight and precise, and the new brakes stop properly and evenly without pulling or vibration. The car passed stringent Nevada tailpipe emissions testing in Sep 2013 on the first go-round [please check emissions requirements for your jurisdiction]. INTERIOR MECHANICS/COSMETICS: Gorgeous condition with factory original leather with brushed aluminum accents. The seats are firm and the leather is excellent, showing only minor wear on the driver's side. The doors and trunk all unlock properly with the key, the locks all work. A/C blows ice cold, heater blows hot. Everything works as it should and there are no cracks on the dash. A small chrome accent is missing from the passenger A/C vent but hardly noticeable. BODY/PAINT/COSMETICS/ELECTRICS:No accidents, verified by CarFax. The paint is beautiful, deep and glossy. There is no evidence of rust anywhere around or under this western US car, except at the small spot seen in the photo with the dime; it is on the passenger side along the edge where the hard top sits and is not visible with the hard top on. Also: There is a minor paint chip on the hard top. See photos 23 and 24 for these. The body is 99.99% straight with just a minor ding on the passenger side door that could not be photographed. The front shows minor road rash consistent with mileage; see photo. Panel gap is as-new. The engine compartment is clean and dry. Two wheels show minor edge curb rash, the other two do not. MY FINAL ASSESSMENT: I want to provide bidders with as much useful information as I would want myself. I'm a critical auto enthusiast, and when I say this car is in excellent condition and ready to drive and enjoy, you can check my feedback and trust that assessment. This is a superb example of a gorgeous American 2-seat roadster / coupe. You'll enjoy power and agility, and classic, understated elegance in a great car that you can drive and enjoy immediately. Please inspect the photos and read my listing carefully, ask all the legitimate questions you like, and understand what I am selling. I have bought and sold ten cars on eBay for personal use, and my eBay feedback speaks volumes. I will do my best to answer your questions, and ask that you query before you bid. Please: Have your funds available and don't waste our time or yours with scams, trades, "ideas" or tire kicking. I have 100% positive feedback and I intend to keep it. Inspections welcomed and encouraged (prior to bidding, please). Clear NV title in owner's hand and ready to sign over to the lucky new owner. To be fair to all bidders: I do not tolerate auction interference, I will not end this auction early, and I will not reveal the reserve. Deposit must be made via PayPal as required and in the time frame specified in the listing or the car will be relisted. Final payment and pickup must be made within seven (7) calendar days of auction close, in the form of cash in person at my bank, funds wired directly to my bank, or cashier's check, or your deposit will be forfeited. While I cannot make arrangements for shipping, we will assist with getting the car to the shipper. Or, you can fly into Las Vegas and drive her home as the eBay buyers of my two BMWs (1985 E30, 2003 ZHP) and my Alfa Romeo (1969 Berlina) did. Bid to own and enjoy, and good luck on landing this beauty! |

Ford recalls select Explorer, E-Series vans
Tue, 21 Jan 2014Just a few days ago we brought you news that Ford had issued a recall on 28,000 units of the Edge crossover for problems related to the fuel line. But now the Blue Oval has issued recall notices on two more of its larger vehicles.
The first relates to the Explorer, 395 examples of which from the 2011 and 2012 model years were found to have problems with their steering systems if they underwent service after September 1, 2013. An apparent software glitch could lock the steering gear, preventing the driver from steering the vehicle and thereby increasing the risk of a crash. As a result, Ford dealers are being instructed to check their records to identify the problematic vehicles and bring them in to have the steering gear replaced. Details of the recall can be found in the PDF linked here.
The second problem revolves around E-Series vans that may develop bubbles in their windshields under hot temperatures. The decrease in visibility through the problematic windshield could - you guessed it - "increase the risk of a crash." As a result, Ford is calling in 4,532 units of the E-150, E-250, E-350 and E-450 vans built in the relatively short window between May 12 and May 26, 2011. Details of this recall can be found in the notice below from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Ford S-Max Concept previews new look, technology for Euro seven-seater
Wed, 28 Aug 2013Ford unveiled today the S-Max Concept, which comes with a new, sleek look and loaded with innovative technology, such as a heart-rate monitoring seat. But if you're heart is set on a minivan sports activity vehicle (SAV) and you live in the States, don't wait for this one - it's a Europe-only product, and we don't expect that to change when the next-gen S-Max is released.
The styling follows Ford's global design language, looking a bit like an overgrown Focus hatchback with the company's signature grille, wraparound headlamps, steeply raked windshield and curved roof line. Ford also implemented details to make the S-Max look longer and faster, such as a feature line on each side of the vehicle and muscular-looking fenders. The engine isn't Ford's most powerful, but the new 1.5-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine should be potent enough with turbocharging and other efficiency related technologies.
Ford says the new interior, which seats up to seven people, features high-quality materials and fine detailing, such as an "ultra-soft" leather wrap for the instrument panel and leather and carbon-fiber details on the seats. Ford's Sync connectivity system with MyFord Touch makes the car a wireless hotspot, and there's a tablet docking station for second-row occupants.
Introducing the 1965 Ford Mustang
Sat, 24 Aug 2013Put on your space suits and diving bell helmets, for it's time to step into a time capsule. The 50th anniversary of a historic model, like, say, the Porsche 911 this year, is certain to bring flights of nostalgia. This historical trip with the 1965 Mustang, though - preliminary hype for next year's anniversary, we know - is a swell museum exhibit for anyone who enjoys bygone days of the automobile.
Lee Iaccoca gave a speech to motoring journalists on April 1, 1964 at the New York World's Fair to introduce a sporty car for younger drivers. His opening line: "Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to one of the proudest moments of our lives." The company was so excited by what it had made that the Mustang was Ford's first "International Press Introduction," being introduced to some 2,000 journos around the world on the same day in the US and 11 European cities. Even through its difficult points, no one at the time could have known how well the Mustang would acquit that pride.
After the intro, the press drove Mustangs 750 miles from New York to Dearborn, MI, reading press kits that touted features like the "vertical, three-sectional taillights/turn signals," "170" six-cylinder engine with 101 horsepower and the available Cruise-O-Matic transmission.
