1965 Ford Thunderbird. California Black Plate on 2040-cars
Dundee, New York, United States
A 1965 Ford Thunderbird, Two door hardtop. This car is an original made and kept in Southern California until I had it shipped to New York in August 2013.The car comes with PS, PDB, Auto trans, PW, Power seats, and original 390 V4 motor. The car has had one repaint to it's original Black color. There is no rust that I can find but minor nicks and few scratches under normal ware and tear. No accident damage that has been repaired ether. The paint I give a rating of seven out of ten in quality. I had the vinyl Top professionally replaced six months ago. The interior is original with no rips or tears, headliner as well. Instruments is dash all work. Radio, AC and switch that controls driver's auto sent are not working. The glass is in great shape, no cracks or scratches. Tires are like new, all chrome in very good original condition. The car drives and shifts well down the road, but I recommend a tune-up. At some time the carburetor has been changed and the distributor as well. This makes a good original driver car but also an easy restoration as well. All lights, directional, and sequential tail lights work well. Please ask any questions or make an appointment to view the car. If you would like to see additional pictures please ask and I will send them to you as soon as I can. This car has a current registration and title is California. The car is sold as is and where is, so the buyer is responsible for shipping and pick-up. I will be happy to assist in loading. You can call me if you like; 315-729-36two-five east coast time 9am-9. Focus ST diesel variant coming, just don't look for it here
Fri, 07 Mar 2014A few years back, Volkswagen made some waves when it announced the Golf GTD - a diesel-powered car that, aside from its ultra-efficient, ultra-torquey engine, was identical to the gas-powered GTI. That meant cosseting sport seats, larger wheels, sportier suspension, larger brakes and a body kit that made the GTD indistinguishable from the GTI, except for the three little letters on the back and in the grille.
Now, Ford is looking to replicate VW's success, with a diesel version of the Focus ST. According to Motor Trend, the diesel-powered ST will use a 2.0-liter, 182-horsepower four-cylinder. With an unspecified amount of torque on offer (we'd guess around 280 pound-feet), the diesel hot hatch should hit 62 miles per hour in about eight seconds.
The report, which originally comes from Auto Express, claims the ST Diesel was confirmed by Ford Chief Marketing Officer Mark Fields during this week's Geneva Motor Show. Not surprisingly, it doesn't appear there are any plans to bring a diesel-powered Focus of any kind to the US, let alone one that uses the suspension, steering and other items from the ST. Of course, if there's an official confirmation from Ford, we'll be sure to report on it.
This 2,000-hp Mustang is in serious need of wheelie bars
Tue, 25 Feb 2014The Ford Mustang on the right is drag racing with the standard technique. The Mustang on the left, driven by David Measell, is using a new "rear bumper only" technique that evidently surprised everyone at the South Georgia Motorsports Park strip - including Measell.
Measell said his outfit just bought the car the week before the event, noting that it has more than 2,000 horsepower. Speaking of his "flying" run, Measell said, "We turned it up to dip on down," by which he meant they turned up the power in order to get his time down. Turns out all that power and all that traction sent the nose straight up into the air almost as soon as the race began.
He told an interviewer afterward that this was his first race in a "regular car" since he normally drives a pro-mod. "I like my wheelie bars," he concluded. You can see how he got there in the video below.
Peel and Ford Transit do a great Austin Powers impression
Tue, May 6 2014It's no secret that the average fullsize cargo van is big. Like, really big. Expressing that size, though, without actually seeing the van in question, is a pretty tall order. When viewed from the right angle, even something as big as a cargo van can appear very small (look up forced perspective, to see what we mean). That's why it's always good to have a second object on hand, to provide a sense of scale. Ford took this simple idea to the extreme, illustrating the size of the new Ford Transit by pulling the world's smallest production car, the Peel P50, nose first into the van's 487-cubic-foot cargo area. That's no big deal, though, right? After all, at just 54 inches long and 39 inches wide, the Peel would fit quite happily in even the smallest fullsize truck bed. Ford takes it a step further, though. With the help of an actual reverse gear (we're guessing this is a CVT-equipped, electric model), the P50 manages to turn itself around and drive out. It does this in less than two minutes. So yeah, the Ford Transit is a pretty big van. Take a look below for the video from Ford. This content is hosted by a third party.
