1964 Thunderbird Convertible Roadster on 2040-cars
Watertown, Connecticut, United States
You are bidding on a 1964 Thunderbird Convertible Roadster. I suspect this may be an original roadster. 1961 - 1963 depicted and identified the Roadster package. 1964 it was not. The reason I suspect it though is that this vehicle does not have power windows or air conditioning but does have the roadster cover and the Kelsey Hayes wire wheels (the wheels were the most expensive option for 1964). I believe whoever ordered the car originally opted for the Roadster package.
I purchased this car 2 years ago. It is a South Carolina car. Previous owner had redone the engine and transmission. When I got it I added a brand new original Holley 4 barrel carb. I also added a Pertronix Distributor and EI. I went through the entire underside of the car. In the rear I added new leaf springs, shackles, bushings and shocks. In the front I added new coil springs, upper ball joints, lower ball joints, Control arm bushings, stabilizer bushings. Everything was taken off, sanded and painted before re-assembly. The steering column was also rebuilt with new bearings, dedent plate (was a problem with these cars) , Gear selector handle, indicator display, signal handle, signal wiring harness, steering damper. It has new fender indicator lights, a new chrome rear bumper, new tail light lenses, I converted the rear lights to digital sequential signals (sequential signals didn't come out until 1965). All the hard stuff is done! Has good driver quality paint but has some chips and scratches. It is a plum purple with purple top. Some things needed are fuel gauge does not work, horn does not work. One of the wire wheels has elongated holes due to lug nuts not being properly tightened. Tires have a lot of tread left but are old and not true. The foam in the front seats is old and needs replacing though the skins are good. Some new paint and tires would really finish the car off! Engine runs strong and brakes are good. Call with any questions. I'm in Connecticut. My cell is 203 233 5023 . Leave message and I'll call back. Prefer cash but may consider trade for 30's type street rod.

Ford Transit Skyliner Concept is a Gulfstream for the road
Sat, 12 Apr 2014If you are afraid to fly or just want to arrive at your ultimate destination in absolute comfort, then the Ford Transit Skyliner concept might be the perfect vehicle for you. Built by Galpin Auto Sports and based on a 2015 Transit, the van is basically a private jet on wheels. It even has a touch of Transformers about it with the ability to switch between four modes by pressing a button in a smartphone app.
Based on the long wheelbase, high-roof model with 487 cubic feet of cargo space and 6 feet, 9.5 inches of interior height, the Skyliner has movable captains chairs that shift around among four modes. In theater mode, the seats turn and recline to face a 52-inch retractable movie screen with 7.2 surround sound. For business, a motorized table unfolds, and the chairs gather around it. There is a mode for tailgating where the door opens four-feet wide, and, when traveling, passengers can recline back with footrests that extend for maximum comfort.
To make the ride even plusher, there is a satellite and media server to meet your entertainment needs, and there is even a built-in bar in the back. If this Ford had a bathroom, you could live in it. Of course, you would need to hire a driver to enjoy all the amenities in the back.
PickupTrucks.com's latest test results in a familiar winner [w/video]
Wed, 19 Jun 2013PickupTrucks.com has gone and thrown the latest batch of half-ton pickups into a cage match to see who would come out on top. The site put the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2013 Ford F-150, Ram 1500, Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan through a battery of tests. Those included 0-60 miles per hour acceleration, 60-0 mph deceleration, fuel economy, a hill climb, and payload and towing. They even threw the rigs on an autocross course to evaluate overall handling. Each truck was given points based on how it scored in each evaluation.
Who came out on top? Somewhat surprisingly, the 2013 Ford F-150 walked away with the gold, though fewer than 50 points separated first and fourth place. Head over to PickupTrucks.com to read the full evaluation and the final results. You may be shocked to see exactly where some of the segment's newest additions placed. You can also watch a video on the test below.
This 1969 Ford F-100 has a Cadillac CTS-V engine lurking underhood
Fri, Jan 30 2015Something always feels just a little taboo when someone builds a custom and then slots in a powertrain from a rival automaker. That's exactly the case with this modded 1969 Ford F-100 boasting a highly tuned LSA supercharged V8 like from the second-gen Cadillac CTS-V. However, with a claimed 800 horsepower on tap thanks in part to running an estimated 20 pounds of boost, it's easy to get over any bad feelings. Built by Tommy Pike Customs in South Carolina, the truck tries to keep the exterior looking somewhat stock. Although, the jade green and satin gold paint, Quaker State logo, lowered suspension and black wheels immediately suggest something is up. Once the F-100 starts up with its menacing growl, absolutely any doubts of this beast being unaltered are immediately gone. Not so obvious are some tweaks to actually help put all that power down, including disc brakes and independent suspension setups at the front and rear. The video gives some glimpses at a few of Pike's other creations, but the real star here is definitely his mean, green Ford.
