This year is the 50th anniversary of this special classic car.  Cruise in elegant style, get lots of looks and thumbs-up.

Engine is a 390 V8.  Odometer says 75,185 but real mileage is probably 175,185.  Great overall condition.  Color is Chantilly Beige Metallic.  Minor paint chips have been repainted, headliner is perfect, landau top is in great shape, new Goodyear whitewall radial tires.

Driver seat control is not working, but can be adjusted manually.  As shown in the photos, there is a minor tear in driver seat.  This can easily be re-upholstered.  Small hole in the dash is being covered by a Route 66 magnet.

The Automatic Transmission has recently been rebuilt, as has the carburetor.  Brakes have just been upgraded with a new master cylinder.  Suspension is in good shape, ride is very smooth.  Dual exhaust, with newer mufflers.

Power Steering, Power Windows, Air Conditioning, Tinted Glass, Flow-though Ventilation, Swing-away Steering Wheel for ease of entry.  Fender skirts included.

I added an extra battery for extra cranking power.  This Bird always starts, idles and runs well.

The Registration has been paid through August of 2015!  No smog checks are required due to vintage.

This car is available for viewing in Santa Ana, California.  I do not ship, but will work with shippers that you contract with directly.  Once released to shipper, I cannot be responsible for any damage that may occur.

I will accept cash, personal check, money order, cashier's check or wire transfer.  Possession and title transfer upon bank confirmation of funds.  If you have any concern about this, we can use an escrow service.  I am on the up-and-up and expect you to be also.  The only reason this car is for sale is that I need the money for uncovered medical bills, otherwise I would not be selling it.

Of course, being 50 years old, the car does not come with a warranty and is being sold as-is, with no returns.  You are more than welcome to test drive it and have it inspected by a mechanic before purchase.

Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.  Thank you for your interest.

More evidence GT500-replacement will be named GT350

Tue, 17 Dec 2013

During the recent unveiling of the 2015 Ford Mustang, we saw the car in both V6 and GT form, but we'll have to wait a little bit longer to see the successor to the Shelby GT500. In the meantime, though, it looks like SVTPerformance.com has confirmed reports that this high-performance model will bring the Shelby GT350 name back to Ford.
According to the forum post, a user found the Shelby GT350 name on a Ford promo website listing its 2015 lineup. The Shelby GT350 name was first used on a Mustang back in 1965, and most recently it has been a model created for customers as a post-title purchase by Shelby American. As for that car, Shelby confirmed earlier in the year that its GT350 would be phased out at the end of this month.
The million-dollar question for Mustang and Shelby enthusiasts is when we'll see next factory Shelby GT350. Last we heard it was planned for a debut at the New York Auto Show. We've included our previous spy shots of this hi-po, sixth-gen Mustang, and we've also captured it on spy video showing off its exhaust note.

GM also sheds parts from its pickups to boost payload ratings

Thu, 31 Jul 2014

The row between Ford and Ram over who boasts the best-in-class tow rating for heavy duty pickups has revealed a number of things. Chief among them is a report that Ford removes items like the spare tire, jack, radio and center console from its vehicles in a bid to lower its base curb weight and therefore keep the truck's gross vehicle weight rating down.
For those that need a refresher, GVWR is the vehicle's curb weight plus its maximum payload. A lower GVWR allows Ford to station its F-450 among the so-called Class III pickups, despite the fact that internally, it has the makings of a more brutish Class IV truck.
Ford explains away these deletions, saying a customer could order their vehicle in such a manner. It has also come to light that Ford is not the only automaker to engage in such practices.

Watch these videos of an NHRA racer's bodywork blowing off into a crowd

Tue, 23 Apr 2013

Just a few months ago, fan safety at racetracks was a hot topic following the last-lap NASCAR Nationwide Series crash at Daytona that sent large pieces of racecars into the grandstands injuring 33 fans. Now, a freak incident at a National Hot Rod Association event resulted in a drag racer's bodywork flying into the crowd at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in Charlotte over the weekend. The carbon-fiber body of Robert Hight's Ford Mustang funny car blew off toward the end of a run when his engine exploded, but fortunately, the two fans evaluated after the incident were later released without serious injury.
As you can see in the image above, the body flew high into the air before landing on a walkway in front of the grandstands, a bit of happenstance that likely gave most fans enough time and space to move out of the way. Scroll down to watch a couple of videos showing what happened, including one from a fan's perspective that also reveals what appears to be part of the body's metal bracing landing dangerously close to the crowd.
