For sale on one of the nicest and RAREST T-bird convertibles around! Extensive restoration on a southern rust free
car. Body panels including the floor are original and never rusted! Bottom side of the car was left in factory
undercoated condition. The quality of the paint is outstanding!! The bumpers were rechromed and look fantastic
too!! New exhaust, brakes and front end. The engine and trans were said to be rebuilt also, the engine starts with
no hesitation. Sounds great with no strange noises. The automatic transmission shifts as it should. It goes right
down the road with no wandering, it.s a joy to drive.
To sum it up so far, the mechanics and cosmetics are in fantastic shape.
The car has power windows, power steering, power brakes, power seat AND a power top that work great! The power top
works perfectly and is very easy to stow, somewhat like a retractable hard top works. Just a flip of a button takes
around a minute and you're off!!
It's the 352 cubic inch "interceptor" engine, factory chrome dress up kit and take a look at those wide whites on
Kelsey style wire wheels!! Beautiful "Continental Kit" with a brand new whitewall inside.
Whats bad about the car?? Well, the previous owner installed a modern sound system in the car, the unit is tucked
away in the glove compartment. The speakers, however are mounted in the lower 1/4 of the door panels and kick
panels as pictured. It's not something I would have done but easily rectified. Also, the AC works and blows cold
but has a leak that needs to be addressed. That's about it. It's not so over the top restored that you'd be afraid
to drive it. It's for sure a trophy winner at any car show you take it to, it's a head turner!!

Ford Everest Concept shows China also has an affinity for big trucks

Mon, 21 Apr 2014

The Ford Everest Concept SUV at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show shows the future of the Blue Oval's truck line in China. While a concept for now, we're told that JMC, Ford's Chinese joint-venture partner, will build a production version sometime in the near future.
With design from Ford's Asia Pacific design team, the handsome seven-passenger SUV shows off some very muscular styling with wraparound headlights that hook into the contours of the angular trapezoidal grille. The beltline rises up the body in the rear and makes the back appear higher than the front. The rear is made from hard, chiseled contours that give the truck a very tough look. The Everest looks ready for some rough roads.
Ford is keeping the interior and mechanical details about the Everest a secret for now, but the SUV is rumored to share some components with the overseas Ranger pickup. The company has no plans to sell the truck in North America. Scroll down to read the official announcement, including the few details on its production.

Hot sales have Detroit automakers shortening summer shutdowns

Tue, 08 Jul 2014

Back in May, there was speculation that the Detroit Three automakers would maintain or perhaps even extend their traditional summer shutdowns, mostly due to a bitingly cold winter that saw below-freezing temperatures infiltrate the southernmost reaches of the US, putting a chill on auto sales. Now, though, the numbers are in, and thanks to some promising sales figures, it looks like some domestic line workers are going to be working clear through July, in some cases.
According to Automotive News, Ford has slashed its traditional two-week hiatus for factory workers in half at four of its plants, while both Chrysler and General Motors will keep factories running nonstop (two plants in Chrysler's case and a third of GM's factories).
This is, as we said, thanks to some positive numbers. Chief among those is the Seasonal Adjusted Annual Rate, which was at an eight-year high of 17 million units. Individual figures were less promising. GM, embroiled in its recall scandal, still saw a one-percent increase while Ford dropped six percent in year-over-year sales. Chrysler was the big winner, though, with a nine-percent jump in June.

NHTSA closes rollaway investigation into 1.56M Ford SUVs

Mon, 11 Mar 2013

It's taken four years of study, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has finally closed the books on its investigation into rollaway accusations surrounding 1.56-million Ford SUV models.
The probe, which centered on the 2002-2005 Ford Explorer, 2002-2005 Mercury Mountaineer and 2003-2005 Lincoln Aviator, ends without the federal agency calling for a recall. According to The Detroit News, the investigation was closed due to a "low number of complaints" - NHTSA documented 180 such complaints that resulted in 14 crashes and six minor injuries, but the number of incidents have been slowing. The suspected defect rate for the trucks' automatic transmissions was found to be 4.4 per 100,000 units, and the brake-shift interlock mechanism failure rate was judged to be even lower at 3.4 per 100k.
