This is a California rust free car. It is not a factory original. It is a good looking driver that runs and handles very good. It is a non completed project that was never completed but driven 3000 miles after doing major work to make it road worthy. It has not been driven in the last 10 years. maybe 30 miles, and it has always been garaged since I bought it in 1995. It needs a lot of TLC to complete. It is great mechanically and looks good, but needs so much small stuff done to make it complete. I caution you not to buy it if you want it to end up with all factory parts, or if you are not mechanically inclined. It would not be worth it to pay someone to do all the work or buy all the exact Thunderbird parts. It is not a bad car just not done. I have most of the parts to finish it. I put in a list of what needs to be done to make it more practibal to drive and what is not factory stock. I have put in about $30K in parts not including the cost of the car.

I bought it with ithe interior stripped out. It had an epoxy primer in it. The brakes were all new except for the front drums. It also came with new wiring ,but not factory wiring. I install a rebuilt 57 Merc 312 with hardened exhaust valve seats and was balanced. The engine has rebuilt rockerarms and 5/16" pushrods. The distributor is non Thunderbird tac drive one with Pertronix ignitor. The transmission is a Maverick 3 speed manual with a Hurst shifter. All front suspension and steering linkage is new including rebuilt steering box. Heavy duty front and rear stabilyzers were installed along with new shocks. All the exterior chrome was redone or new. The center section of the rear bumper has some rust bubbles. I don't think it was plated with copper underneath. The interior was sprayed with zero rust and new interior installed. All the exhaust is new with Glass packs. All the weather stripping is new except for the top which it needs badly. The window channel is new but is too tight. The door locks need adjusting. The doors and hood need to be aligned. The paint used on the exterior is PPG Concept single stage urethane. There is no canvas top. It uses mechanical gauges not the stock ones.
Please study the pictures carefully. I have included in the pictures a list of my recollection of non stock Thunderbird items and things that need to be done.I have a lot of the parts.
This car comes with no guarentee. It is sold as is. A non refundable deposit of $500 is due 48 hours after the auction and the remainder 10 days after the end of auction. I will accept cashiers check, cash in person, or bank transfer for payment. I will only release the car when all the funds are posted in my account. Feel free to ask all you questions.

Tier 1 suppliers call GM the worst OEM to work with

Mon, 12 May 2014

Among automakers with a big US presence, General Motors is the worst to work for, according to a new survey from Tier 1 automotive suppliers, conducted by Planning Perspectives, Inc.
The Detroit-based manufacturer, which has been under fire following the ignition switch recall and its accompanying scandal, finished behind six other automakers with big US manufacturing operations. Suppliers had issues with trust and communications, as well as intellectual property protection. GM was also the least likely to allow suppliers to raise their prices in the face of unexpected increases in material cost, all of which contributed to 55 percent of suppliers saying their relationship with GM was "poor to very poor."
GM's cross-town competitors didn't fare much better. Chrysler finished in fifth place, ahead of GM and behind Dearborn-based Ford, which was passed for third place this year by Nissan. Toyota took the top marks, while Honda captured second place.

Here's how much the new Ford Mustang will cost in Germany

Thu, Jan 8 2015

While you can find Ford Mustangs across Europe, they were brought over there courtesy of importers, rather than Ford itself. That's changing with the 2015 pony car, as Ford will be selling it directly through its overseas dealers. Now, we know how much German customers will be shelling out for the muscle car, courtesy of the maniacs at Mustang6G. Not surprisingly, there's a fairly hefty premium compared to US prices. The base Mustang, with its 2.3-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder and six-speed manual transmission will start at 34,000 euros ($40,214, at today's rates), while the 5.0-liter V8/six-speed-manual model starts at 39,000 euros ($46,127). The Mustang Convertible demands an extra 4,000 euros ($4,731) while the optional six-speed automatic elevates the price by 2,000 euros ($2,365), regardless, in both cases, of whether there are four or eight cylinders under that long hood. While those prices are certainly pretty dear compared to what we pay in the US, the Mustang is a genuine bargain compared to some of Europe's other sports coupes. The German market BMW 4 Series starts at 36,050 euros ($42,638), while a base 435i calls for 48,100 euros ($56,891). It's a similar story with the Audi A5/S5. As for the Mustang's arch-nemesis, the Chevrolet Camaro, which is only available with the SS model's 6.2-liter V8, starts at 39,990 euros ($47,298), comparing quite evenly with the 5.0-liter GT.

Chevy Silverado frame twist test a marketing victory versus Ford

Thu, 16 Oct 2014

The pickup market is so competitive that all three major American makers are constantly trying to find a way to prove their product is the best. The new 2015 Ford F-150 is grabbing headlines at the moment by winning awards and posting segment best numbers. But in a new video, Chevrolet is taking aim squarely at the 2015 F-250 Super Duty in a battle of heavy-duty truck supremacy against the 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500HD... well, in a single metric anyway.
The big numbers from pickups often come down to payload, towing rating and fuel economy, but for this test, Chevy and Howie Long are challenging the torsional rigidity of the trucks' frames, specifically which one flexes less. Long plays the everyman here having the Chevy engineer explain what's going on in the tests. Unsurprisingly for a video on Chevy's official YouTube page, the 2500HD wins out by a good margin. The company also reports that similar results as shown here have been certified in third-party testing.
Check out the video to see the full test. While this might seem like a marketing win for Chevy, Ford isn't immune to it, either. In 2009, the Blue Oval uploaded a similar video comparing the flex under 225 pounds of weight from the bare frames of the F-150, Chevy Silverado, Dodge Ram (as it was still called at the time) and the Toyota Tundra. The results fell in the Blue Oval's favor, as you can see here.
