1955 Ford Thunderbird Base Convertible 2-door 4.8l on 2040-cars

Exquisite 1955 Ford Thunderbird. This car was rebuilt and
reconditioned to exacting standards. I originally purchased this vehicle from
Turner Automotive in Victor, NY, approximately 15 years ago to add to my car
and motorcycle collection. It has won several awards including Best in Show and
Best in Class at shows in the Rochester area. The car is extremely attractive
with a creamy white exterior. The interior is an outstanding red with white
accents. This car has the original 6 volt system. It runs very well. It was my
original intention to keep this car for my daughter when she grows up.
Unfortunately, I was seriously injured in an accident last summer and can no
longer drive or maintain a 3-speed manual shift car. Therefore, I am forced to
part with this beautiful piece of machinery. The car was recently appraised for
$54,000-$55,000. I have set the reserve much lower than this. From what I can
ascertain the original mileage is just over 20,000 miles. The undercarriage is
just as clean as the engine compartment and the rest of the car. I am available
anytime to answer questions. Hopefully, the photos speak for themselves about
this beautiful example of American car history. |

2015 Ford Mustang to make world debut on Dec. 5 [w/video]
Tue, 19 Nov 2013Between a bevvy of spy shots, speculative renders and insidery images from the halls of Car and Driver, we've got a pretty decent idea of what the 2015 Ford Mustang might look like. Still, we're excited to see the real deal as soon as possible.
Turns out that Ford has told us just when that first official look might come, too, although it has chosen somewhat of a backdoor fashion for dropping the news.
The video below popped up on the Ford Mustang YouTube channel this morning, promoting a social media effort called #MustangInspires on. The video and hashtag ask fans of the pony car to share pictures of the car - or "photographic stories of inspiration" - on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc. But the truly interesting part of the video description is that which mentions taking "the cover off the all-new Mustang" on December 5. Consider our calendars marked.
Fiat boss Elkann being mentored by... Bill Ford?
Tue, 26 Mar 2013Fiat Chairman John Elkann has been turning to an unusual source for advice on the car business. While speaking during an interview with The Detroit News, Elkann said he often asks Bill Ford Jr. for advice on how to proceed with the turnaround at Chrysler. "It's great to have the opportunity to share this with someone like Bill, who has experienced many things and gone through many things ... especially linked to Detroit." Elkann said.
As the Agnelli family heir, Elkann has inherited a long and fruitful friendship with the Ford family. While Giovanni Agnelli built his first Fiat four years before Henry Ford created his first vehicle, it was Ford that showed Agnelli the benefits of mass production and helped pave the way for what would become the Fiat empire.
Giovanni's grandson, Gianni, helped mentor Bill Ford when he was elected chairman of Ford Motor Company. Now, Ford is returning the favor by helping Elkann navigate the automotive industry's tumultuous waters.
J Mays' legacy
Fri, 15 Nov 2013
Mays is by far not the first designer to use heritage design cues in his work.
The announcement that J Mays will be leaving his chief creative officer role at Ford Motor Company on January 1 ends a 13-year run in one of the industry's top design roles. While best known for having a hand in reborn classics like the Volkswagen New Beetle, Ford Mustang and Thunderbird (above), Mays' legacy is more complicated and nuanced than being considered the father of what is known as "retrofuturism".
