1994 Ford Taurus Sho Sedan 4-door 3.2l Automatic 129k Miles on 2040-cars
Indianapolis, Indiana, United States
---------- UPDATE ------------
**** A few weeks ago, I was on my way to work and the car died on the interstate. I coasted to the side of the road and attempted to restart. The car would just crank. After waiting a few minutes, the car started and I made it to work. When I left work that day, the car started fine, but on the way home died again. I suspect the ignition coil or crank sensor are getting hot and temporarily failing when warm. I have not had time to diagnose and would rather just sell the car. **** I have up for sale a 1994 Ford Taurus SHO. 3.2L V6, automatic, with 129k miles. The car starts, runs, and drives well. The engine is really strong and it runs out nicely.Within the last 1000 miles, it has had new tires, brakes, catalytic converter, front struts, sway bar end links, serpentine belt, and idler pulley replaced. The car does have a few flaws though. Clear coat on the hood, roof, and trunk is chipping. There are a few scratches and some rust. Front seats and headliner are ripped up. Power sunroof doesn't work (will open and close manually, probably the motor or switch). The car needs a front wheel bearing, oxygen sensors, and a clock spring to be perfect. Otherwise it runs and drives really well. *** I highly recommend you come out and look at the car before making an offer! I can send more pictures and information to you upon request. ***Asking $2,400 OBO630-212-6325 Call or TextMy name is DarrenI work from 12pm-930pm so if I don't respond, leave a message and I will call you back. |

Ford announces bevy of recalls, 2 of which are recalls on recalls
Tue, 04 Nov 2014
Ford has announced five separate recalls, affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.
It's not been a great couple of weeks for Ford. On October 30, the company announced a 205,000-unit recall, and yesterday, it was revealed that the Ford brand's year-over-year sales were down over 5,000 units while the company itself was down 3,000 units over through October. Now, the company has announced five separate recalls affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.
Ford finds flex-fuel engine design plays big role in emissions output
Mon, Jan 6 2014How bad is ethanol for your engine? There's been a lot of debate on this issue as the US considers upping the biofuel content in the national gasoline supply from 10 percent (E10) to 15 percent (E15). The ethanol industry and some scientists say higher ethanol blends show no "meaningful differences" in new engines while the oil industry says ethanol creates health risks. Researchers working at the Ford Research and Innovation Center decided to take a closer look at how a wide range of gas-ethanol blends - E0, E10, E20, E30, E40, E55 and E80 - affected the emissions coming out of a flex-fuel 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. To see the full report, printed in the journal Environmental Science & Technology, requires payment, but there is an abstract and Green Car Congress has some more details. The gist is that, "with increasing ethanol content in the fuel, the tailpipe emissions of ethanol, acetaldehyde, formaldehyde, methane, and ammonia increased." At least NOx and NMHC emissions decreased. The researchers say that the effects are due to the fuel and "are expected for all FFVs," but that the way that a manufacturer calibrates the engine will affect NOx, THC, and NMOG emissions. It's this last bit that's important, since the researchers found, "Higher ethanol content in gasoline affects several fundamental fuel properties that can impact emissions. ... These changes can have positive or negative effects that can depend on engine design, hardware, and control strategy. In addition to direct emissions impacts, higher ethanol content fuel can also provide more efficient combustion and overall engine operation under part-load conditions and under knock-limited higher-load conditions." So, as we head towards more ethanol in our fuel supply (maybe), manufacturers are going to need to learn how to burn it most efficiently.
American automakers fall in latest Fortune 500 rankings
Fri, 10 May 2013Not that it means anything beyond bragging rights, but if you're fixated on the positions of domestic automakers on the annual Fortune 500 list, both General Motors and Ford are still on it but they've slipped a couple of notches. The list ranks American companies and they're ordered solely by revenue. GM, fifth last year, came in seventh, while Ford fell from ninth to tenth even though both companies saw small gains in annual revenue.
GM's $152.3 billion in revenue was less than a third of that of the first company on the list: Wal-Mart, which regained the title from Exxon Mobil. Berkshire Hathaway and Apple are the firms that moved GM down. Ford, displaced by energy company Valero, had $134.3 billion in revenue.
On a side note, profitability isn't a factor, but both GM and Ford were down in this year's list compared to last year's: GM declined from $9.2 billion to $6.2 billion, Ford fell from $20.2 billion to $5.6 billion. If profits were included, Exxon Mobil would probably still be king: although the energy company made almost $20 billion less in revenue than Wal-Mart's $469.2 billion, it posted $44.9 billion in profit compared to Wal-Mart's $17 billion.
