I FOUND #3 ENGINE WITH A LEGITIMATE 50 K ON IT. THE TRANSMISSION WAS ALL APART IN THE BED, SO HOW COULD THE ENGINE BE BAD? AFTER PRESSURE WASHING, I DROPED THE OIL PAN AND PUT IN OIL PUMP AND CLEANED AND PAINTED THE PAN.&THE REST OF THE ENG!. I PUT IN NEW PLUGS, WENT THROUGH THE DISTRIBUTOR AND PUT ON A NEW ELECTRONIC COMPUTER THING. WE TRANSFERRED THE WATER PUMP BECAUSE IT WAS NEW, NEW PLUGS, THERMOSTAT,FAN AND FAN CLUTCH, HOSES,BELTS ETC. THE ALUMINUM 4 ROW HEAVY DUTY RADIATOR WAS SERVICED AND REFILLED WITH ANTI FREEZE. THE TRUCK WENT 75 MILES AND OVERHEATED!!! I PARKED IT OUTSIDE AND BOUGHT A YR OLD FUSION!. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN IN MY BACK YARD SINCE FALL OF O7 AND BEING OUT HAS NOT MADE IT ANY BETTER IN CONDITION. THE CUSTOM PAINT I HAD PUT ON IN 1990 IS RESPECTIBLE , BUT SHOULD BE REDONE. YOU COULD TOUCH UP THE HOOD AND RT QUARTER (CLEARCOAT IS BAD) AND REDO THE STIPE AND SHE WOULD LOOK PRETTY GOOD. THE INTERIOR IS NICE AND IN GOOD SHAPE AND CARPET IS PERFECT!(SHOULD BE SHAMPOOED!) I HAVE ALL RECORDS SINCE 01/90!` THE TRUCK HAS ZERO RUST EXCEPT THE ROOF RAIN GUTTERS WHICH ARE BOTH RUSTY FOR SOME REASON! NEVER UNDERCOATED, IT IS SUPER TIGHT AND AN ABSOLUTE PLEASURE WHEN IT'S RUNNING. SAVE YOUR KID AND MAKE IT A RESTORATION PROJECT AND KEEP HIM OR HER OFF DRUGS ETC! WORKED FOR MY KID! THE CHROME ON THE TRUCK IS INSANELY NICE!,BUMPERS,HANDLES,MIRRORS-BEAUTIFUL! GRILLE HAS A SMALL CRACK UNDER RT HEADLIGHT.(I HAVE A NOS FORD ALL CHROME GRILLE AVAILABLE). CARPETS ARE PERFECT! HAS OPTIONAL MATCHING FULL DOOR PANELS AND VENT WINDOWS. IF YOU HAVE A RUST BUCKET WITH A REBUILT 2.9 ENGINE, HERE IS YOUR VEHICLE. I WILL EVEN STORE IT FOR YOU HERE AT NO CHARGE, BUT YOU MUST PAY IN FULL WHEN THE SALE IS COMPLETED. I'M 74 AND HANDICAPPED AND UNABLE TO TAKE ON THIS PROJECT--OR I WOULD!!! MORE STUFF AND INFORMATION: THE DRIVE SHAFT GOT 3 NEW U-JTS,NEW TAILSHAFT SEALS AND TRANS SERVICED AT JUST OVER 400K MILES.IT ALSO GOT A NEW BOOSTER WITH MASTER,REBUILT P/S PUMP. THE ENGINE "LOOKS NEW" AND THE COMPARTMENT IS CLEAN , WITH NOTHING MISSING. THE BATTERY TRAY IS SOLID AND NOT RUSTED OUT! THE ALUMINUM 4 ROW RADIATOR SHOULD LAST YEARS. THE FRONT END IS GOOD AND KEPT UP AND ALWAYS ALLIGNED. I TOOKS PICTURES OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THE DASH, BUT MY COMPUTER IS NOT ALLOWING ME TO FIND WHERE THEY ARE?? I ALSO HAVE MORE PHOTOS INCLUDING THE RAIN GUTTERS. I WILL MAKE SURE THE TRUCK HAS 4 TIRES HOLDING AIR FOR THE PICKUP. I HAD OLD SCHOOL WHITEWALLS ON 80'S LINCOLN WIRE WHEELS WORTH $800 IN MY BUSINESS. TODAY, IT'S ALL ABOUT 20 INCH RIMS AND BLACK TIRES, SO HAVE A BALL! JUST KEEP IT OUT OF THE WRECKING YARD! Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R named Road & Track Performance Car of the Year
Mon, Nov 9 2015With a 526-horsepower, 5.2-liter V8 that roars to 8,250 rpm, it's really hard to consider the 2016 Ford Shelby Mustang GT350R an underdog in any fight. However, the Shelby held the lowest as-tested price and was only middle of the pack in terms of power in Road & Track's 2016 Performance Car of the Year challenge. The 'Stang's numbers clearly didn't tell the whole story about the potent coupe because Ford's muscle car grabbed the title in this year's test. A model needs to be new or significantly updated to be eligible for the honor, and R&T found an impressive slate of eight candidates this year. The challengers included the Bentley Continental GT3-R, Cadillac ATS-V Coupe, Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Dodge Viper ACR, Mercedes-AMG GT S, and Porsche Cayman GT4. The Ferrari 488 GTB was the most expensive of the bunch with an as-tested price of $347,942, which is five times more than the Shelby. Once the group was together, R&T hustled them over curving roads and on the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park. There was a lot to love about the Shelby, even in this impressive crew. "With a flat-plane crank and Sport Cup 2 tires, the GT350R is a Mustang turned up to 11," editor-in-chief Larry Webster said in the announcement of the results. The GT350R joins some great company. Past winners include the Porsche 911 GT3 last year and the Corvette in 2013. For some fantastic photography and the complete appraisal of these performance machines check out R&T's website for the full story. Related Video: ROAD & TRACK NAMES THE FORD MUSTANG SHELBY GT350R THE 2016 PERFORMANCE CAR OF THE YEAR New York, NY (November 9, 2015) – Road & Track today named the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R the 2016 Performance Car of the Year, beating out seven of the world's best new sports cars. The article appears in the December/January issue, on newsstands November 17, and on RoadandTrack.com. "With a flat-plane crank and Sport Cup 2 tires, the GT350R is a Mustang turned up to 11," said Larry Webster, editor-in-chief of Road & Track. "Not only does the car have soul and harness so much firepower with such ease, but the real achievement here is that it's so approachable. It's a car you can't help but love." The Mustang Shelby GT350R was the winner by a runaway vote.
Ford F-150 SVT Raptor sales jumping to new heights
Thu, 12 Sep 2013Ford can't seem to build F-150 SVT Raptors fast enough. The off-road-ready trucks have been one of the Blue Oval's most reliable sellers, with record sales in eight of the last 10 months and a 14-percent jump in 2013. That's impressive enough, considering that the least expensive Raptor starts at $44,000. Factor in the modded F-150's fuel economy (it's rated at 11 miles per gallon in the city and 16 on the highway) and a national average gas price, as of this writing, of $3.55 per gallon, and its success is as unlikely as Ford's home team, the Detroit Lions, winning the Super Bowl this year (sorry, Lions fans, we're just quoting the experts in Vegas...).
Yet for some reason, Raptors spend an average of just 15 days on dealer lots before being snapped up, which is a quarter of the 60-day industry average. According to Ford's truck group marketing manager, Doug Scott, it's capability that keeps the Raptor selling strong. "What's helping drive Raptor sales is that Raptor delivers unmatched off-road performance to our customers. Raptor is also proof of our commitment to offer a truck for every customer and continuously improving them to meet our customers' evolving needs."
To address the strong demand for Raptors, Ford will bump production from three trucks per hour to five. Not much, we agree. But building an extra 48 trucks per day, at most, seems like a prudent way of addressing demand without oversaturating what is ultimately a niche market. Check out the press release below for more.
Ford Australia reveals updated Territory, Falcon via Twitter
Mon, 28 Jul 2014Ford may have tied together much of its global lineup under the One Ford campaign, but one market where it still offers unique products is Australia. That will soon draw to a close as well, but before it does, the Blue Oval's Aussie operations are rolling out refreshed versions of its two unique products. For the moment, Ford isn't revealing much in the way of powertrain details, but it has shown off a couple of snaps of the revised products on its in-market Twitter feed.
First up is the new Territory. The SUV is neither based on a front-drive crossover platform nor on a truck frame, but shares its rear-drive underpinnings with the Falcon, taking it a step beyond the Falcon wagon alongside which it sits in Ford's Aussie range. Like the outgoing third-generation SZ Territory, the facelifted version is dominated by a narrow grille and larger front air dam, but further punctuates its big-chinned look with more rugged lower cladding and other metallic inserts that bring its look up to date.
And there's the Falcon, which Ford revealed in XR8 trim just last week and is now presenting in G6E spec. If the XR8 is the performance model, the G6E is the luxury version, swapping in more refined trim like a chrome-slat grille (instead of a black honeycomb), chrome foglamp surrounds, less-aggressive multi-spoke wheels (instead of five-spokes) and a flatter hood (instead of a power bulge). Otherwise, it looks essentially the same as the one we saw last week, its facelift bringing it more in line with the smaller, front-drive Mondeo (which we know here as the Fusion) and other members of the Ford family.
