YOU ARE LOOKING AT A VERY NICE 2004 FORD RANGER EDGE III EDITION THAT WAS INVOLVED IN A MINOR FRONT END ACCIDENT RECENTLY. IT IS AN EXTRA CAB 4 DOOR 2WD TRUCK WITH A SHORT BED. BELOW IS A BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
EXTERIOR: BLACK PAINT APPEARS TO BE ORIGINAL AND IS IN REALLY NICE SHAPE TO BE 11 YEARS OLD. WE ALL KNOW BLACK SHOWS EVERYTHING, SO NOTHING IS HIDDEN WITH EXTERIOR. BESIDES THE FEW PIECES NEEDED ON THE FRONT END, THE REST OF THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS ONLY MINOR SCRATCHES, , TWO DENTS TO MENTION, ONE IN THE HOOD AND ONE IN THE LOWER BEDSIDE, BOTH CAN BE PUSHED OUT WITH NO PAINT WORK REQUIRED. FAR NICER THAN THE AVERAGE TRUCK I'VE SEEN. AS FOR THE DAMAGE, TO BE BACK TO FACTORY CONDITION, IT WILL NEED---GRILLE, BUMPER ASSEMBLY, HEADLAMP MOUNTING PANEL, LEFT HEADLAMP AND TURN SIGNAL. THE LEFT BUMPER BRACKET CAN BE STRAIGHTENED, THE FENDER CAN AS WELL, IT JUST HAS A KINK IN IT. PAINT THESE FEW PIECES, BOLT THEM ON, AND YOUR DONE. IT'S FROM FLORIDA, SO IT'S RUST FREE AND VERY CLEAN UNDERNEATH. TRUCK CAN BE FIXED IN A DAY. ON THE OTHER HAND, I DROVE IT UP THE ROAD AND BACK, IT RUNS AND DRIVES FINE AS IT IS. SO IF YOU WANTED TO, JUST DRIVE IT THE WAY IT IS. I PULLED THE BUMPER FORWARD AND ATTACHED THE LOWER VALENCE SO IT WOULD CLEAR THE TIRE AND SAVE THE BUYER ON SHIPPING MAYBE. SO I DON'T SEE ANY REASON WHY YOU CAN'T BRING A TAG AND DRIVE IT HOME. BEDLINER LOOKS AS IT HAS BEEN IN TRUCK SINCE NEW, HAS HITCH ALSO. INTERIOR: INSIDES ARE NICE, BLACK AND GRAY. HIGH BACK CLOTH BUCKET SEATS WITH A CONSOLE. NOTHING RIPED OR ABUSED, LOOKS LIKE WITH A QUICK CLEANING, IT WOULD BE PERFECT. RUBBER MAT FLOOR INSTEAD OF CARPET, EASY TO TAKE CARE OF. ALL POWER WINDOWS, LOCKS, ETC WORK AS THEY SHOULD. A/C IS ICE COLD, HEAT HOT. INSIDE REAR DOOR HANDLE IS BROKEN AND WON'T OPEN ALL THE TIME, A COMMON PROBLEM ON THESE. EASY REPLACE, $40 FOR THE HANDLE, AND ANOTHER $40 LABOR TO INSTALL. DRIVETRAIN: THESE 3.0 LITER POWERPLANTS HAVE GOOD POWER, GREAT RELIABILITY, AND STILL KEEPS GOOD GAS MILEAGE. THIS ONE HAS 132,000 MILES AND RUNS FLAWLESSLY. NOTHING UNDER THE HOOD OUT OF ORDER, VERY DRY, NO LEAKS OR ANYTHING WET, I DO NOT CLEAN THE ENGINES OF MY VEHICLES BEFORE I OFFER THEM FOR SALE, SO YOU CAN SEE HOW THEY REALLY ARE. TRANSMISSION IS THE FIVE SPEED AUTOMATIC, COMPLETELY REBUILT TOP TO BOTTOM AS OF THIS YEAR, ONLY A FEW THOUSAND MILES SINCE DONE. I'M TRYING TO GET A COPY OF THIS AND SHOULD HAVE THE PAPERWORK BEFORE THE AUCTION'S END TO GO TO THE NEW OWNER. TIRES ARE NEW COOPER 235/70/16 RADIALS WITH ABOUT 500 MILES ON THEM. JUST HAD NEW PADS, ROTORS, AND SHOES DONE ALL THE WAY AROUND, SHOULD NEED NOTHING MECHANICAL. PLEASE UNDERSTAND, THE TITLE IS CLEAR, NOTHING EVER REPORTED ABOUT THE DAMAGE DUE TO THE TRUCK NOT HAVING COLLISION INSURANCE ON IT WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I JUST DON'T HAVE TIME TO FIX IT, SO I'M OFFERING IT FOR SALE AT A LOW RESERVE. THE NEW OWNER CAN PIECE IT TOGETHER FOR CHEAP WHILE DRIVING IT DAILY AND HAVE A VERY NICE RIDE AT A DISCOUNT. Ford recalls Explorer and Lincoln MKC for fire hazard
Thu, Mar 31 2016The Basics: Ford will recall 5,536 examples of the 2016 Explorer and 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC. The Explorers have build dates between October 20, 2014, and January 28, 2016, at the Chicago Assembly Plant. The MKCs are from between November 25, 2013, and January 25, 2016, at the Louisville Assembly Plant. In total, there are 3,129 total affected examples of the 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC and 2,407 examples of the 2016 Ford Explorer. Of these, 1,543 are in the US and 3,993 are in Canada. The Problem: The combination of the engine block design and the block heater in these vehicles can cause the part to overheat when plugged in. Injuries/Deaths: None reported, but there are two cases of underhood fires in Canada. If you own one: Ford will begin notifying owners during the week of May 16, company spokesperson John Cangany tells Autoblog. Related Video: Ford issues safety recall for certain 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC and 2016 Ford Explorer vehicles to replace engine block heaters Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 5,500 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC and 2016 Ford Explorer vehicles to remove the heaters and replace them with an updated design. The engine block design, coupled with the particular block heater installed in these vehicles, causes the unit to be susceptible to overheating when the vehicle is parked and the block heater is plugged in –increasing the risk of an underhood fire. Ford is aware of two reports of underhood fires in Canada, but is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue. Affected vehicles include certain 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC vehicles built at Louisville Assembly Plant, Nov. 25, 2013 through Jan. 25, 2016 and certain 2016 Ford Explorer vehicles built at Chicago Assembly Plant, Oct. 20, 2014 through Jan. 28, 2016. There are 5,536 vehicles affected by the issue, including 3,129 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC and 2,407 2016 Ford Explorer vehicles, with 1,543 of the affected vehicles in the United States and federalized territories and 3,993 in Canada. Dealers will remove and replace the engine block heater with an updated design and, if needed, replace the cord at no cost to the customer.
Car and Driver shows off awesome 1960s ads
Fri, Sep 11 2015Someone must have recently rediscovered the keys to the archives at Car and Driver, and the access has been put to good use. Following last month's fantastic look at automotive ads from the '50s, there's now a new gallery running from March 1960 through December 1969. This collection provides a great overview of a decade full of iconic cars. If you're a fan of Carroll Shelby, particularly his Mustangs, then there's a lot to love among this group. One ad from July 1965 aimed to sell the GT350, but with an ocean of text and a tiny picture, it probably could've used a once-over by Don Draper's team. By December '65, the copywriters ironed out the problems with a spot proclaiming boldly "Shelby GT350 is 'Son of Cobra.'" The company offered some great accessories, too. For those into European motoring, there's a humorous attempt to sell the Alfa Romeo Giulia as both a racecar and family hauler. Toyota also boasts about the winning record for the 2000GT. Among the best text comes from BMW for lines like: "What's BMW got? The most advanced high-performance engine in any production car, for a cruising speed of 100 mph." Of course, Volkswagen's famous "Lemon" ad for the Beetle also gets its due here. Separately, each of these ads is fascinating, but taken together they tell the story of a great decade of motoring. How Ford made its 2015 Ford Mustang safer for toupee wearers [w/video]
Fri, 28 Feb 2014Ford is ready to tell the story of its 2015 Mustang Convertible, the can't-miss bits being the easier, quicker and quieter roof operation, a more robust roof build for a coupe-like cabin noise, more trunk space, better visibility and reduced in-cabin buffeting. The top release system has been completely redesigned with a single, center-mounted latch on the windshield frame instead of the dual latches of before. The driver can now release the roof without having to lean over into the passenger space, after which the top goes down fully automatically with the press of a button. Ford doesn't say how long it takes to stow, but it's apparently done in half as much time as before, so figure around 8 seconds.
The roof uses a five-bow structure, with the fabric outer and full inner headliner sandwiching ten millimeters of insulation. Detailing work on the top has eliminated "unsightly folds" in the corners when the roof is up and made it more compact when down; its Z-fold assembly is 6.7 inches lower than before at its highest point when put down. Ford says the new electric drive internals make less noise when in operation, and the fully-finished droptop look is achieved with snap-in caps that flank the rear seating and stow in the trunk when not in use (the outgoing Mustang's top was higher and the front when folded and always looked like it was catching air and creating drag).
The compact roof and newly independent rear suspension setup in back means liberated trunk space, 11.4 cubic feet ready to swallow golf bags and tourist swag.
