2000 Ford Ranger on 2040-cars
Chula Vista, California, United States
I am selling my 5-speed manual, single cab, 2000 Ford Ranger truck. I am the second owner of this truck (bought at 67,000 miles). This truck has been a blast and very dependable. Maintenance has always been done on time and correctly (always serviced by Tony @ Econo Lube 'N Tune on Aero and Convoy). It has a camper shell and has carpeted interior in the back- great for sleeping in on a camping trip. I have used this truck as a commuter and on camping trips. I will be sad to see it go when my next trip comes around. I am 6' tall and fit comfortably with my wife- saved me from setting up a tent and sleeping on the rocks.
The flooring in the cab is not carpeted, and the seats are vinyl (should mention it has a small tear in driver's seat) so it's easy to clean up. It has a nice CD player and is hooked up with an 1/8" jack to play music off of an ipod, etc... It does have minor wear and tear you would expect, but overall it is still in great cosmetic condition. It has it's squeaks as well, but those have no effect on the engine's performance. The only reason I am selling is I need to get something now with an extra cab. I have always taken excellent care of this truck as it was my loyal, dependable friend for many years. No AC. Clean title- no accidents. |

Former Ford CEO Alan Mulally lands on Google board
Wed, 16 Jul 2014Former Ford CEO Alan Mulally often referred to the Blue Oval as a technology company when he led the automaker. Now he'll be offering guidance to a different kind of technology firm: Google.
Mulally was appointed to Google's board of directors July 9, and late Tuesday, it was announced that he will serve on the company's audit committee. The veteran executive led Ford from September 2006 until he retired in June, succeeded by Mark Fields.
While Mulally will act as a board member - rather than in a managerial role - his presence adds credibility to Google's recently announced plans to produce an autonomous car. The ambitious program calls for 100 prototypes to begin testing later this summer. Production of the car is rumored to be in collaboration with a Detroit area performance company, Roush.
DoJ fines Japanese parts firms $740M in massive automotive price-fixing scandal
Fri, 27 Sep 2013Nine Japanese suppliers have pleaded guilty in US court over charges of price fixing in the automotive parts industry, resulting in the Department of Justice doling out a total of $740 million of fines, according to a report from Bloomberg. The scandal, which has resulted in General Motors, Ford, Toyota and Chrysler spending up to $5 billion on inflated parts and driving up prices on 25 million vehicles has sent the DoJ hustling into investigations. "The conduct this investigation uncovered involved more than a dozen separate conspiracies aimed at the U.S. economy," Attorney General Eric Holder (pictured above) said during yesterday's press conference.
As the investigation stands, the DoJ has issued $1.6 billion in fines against 20 companies and 21 individual executives, with 17 of the execs headed to prison. Deputy Assistant Attorney General Scott Hammond said, "The breadth of the conspiracies brought to light today are as egregious as they are pervasive. They involve more than a dozen separate conspiracies operating independently but all sharing in common that they targeted US automotive manufacturers."
Big-name suppliers indicted in the investigation include Mitsubishi Electric, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi Automotive and Mitsuba Corporation. A list of fines and other corporations named in the investigation is available at Bloomberg.
Ford dominates most-stolen SUV list

The Ford Escape leads the NICB's list with 1,421 examples stolen.
If you drive a recent Ford SUV or crossover, you may want to keep a watchful eye out for thieves - especially if you live in the New York metro area or in Detroit. A new study from the National Insurance Crime Bureau has named three Ford models as the most likely vehicles in their genre to be stolen, with CUVs in general being especially attractive to bandits.
