Vehicle Description: This is a 7-Day NO RESERVE auction for a 1997 Ford Ranger XLT! HIGH BIDDER WINS! Rare 4-cyl / 5-speed manual combination in an Extended Cab Ranger! This truck is far from perfect, but with some work this can be a fuel efficient workhorse again. Please read the entire description before you bid! The 4-cylinder engine appears to run smoothly and has plenty of power. The transmission goes into every gear and the clutch appears to hold well, but occasionally it can be a little difficult to it into gear (usually it goes right in, sometimes you have to give it a little extra push). I am selling this vehicle as true mileage unknown because the odometer and speedometer do not work. I do not know how long it has been this way and have no way to estimate the mileage. This Ranger features the XLT package and includes power windows, power locks, sliding rear glass window, and more. I have not noticed any leaks on the ground where this Ranger has been sitting but there may be some normal fluid seepage consistent with a 17 year old vehicle. The brakes stop the car smooth and straight. The suspension, especially in the front, is rather worn. This Ranger goes pretty straight down the road, although the steering wheel is turned slightly when the truck is going straight but it does not pull. All of the tires have some drivable tread remaining. The spare tire is missing and the right front wheel does not match (appears to be off a newer year Ranger). The climate control appears to be in working condition except the A/C blows warm. The radio works and so do the speakers. The "Door Ajar" light never goes out, even when the doors all appear to be properly shut. There are no other check engine or other "dummy lights" illuminated. The exhaust is loud. Cosmetically -- this Ranger is not the prettiest. Please see pictures, there is considerable rust and the driver's front fender is damaged. Includes a locking paint-matched hard fiberglass tonneau cover but I can't get it to sit properly so it is a little propped up (I have not tried to fix this very much). The interior would benefit from a good cleaning but it is all there. Small rip in the driver side bolster. The driver's seatbelt is not securing into the clip (not properly functioning). This truck does need some work so please bid accordingly! I have tried my best to represent this vehicle accurately and to the best of my abilities. Earning and keeping a 100% positive feedback rating is very important to me! I test drive each vehicle on the expressway and around town for at least 20 miles, often over 100 miles, and use that experience to represent the vehicle to you on eBay. Please remember that you are buying a used vehicle and that a certain amount of wear/use/flaws are to be expected on any used vehicle -- including this one. You are welcome and encouraged to come check out this vehicle for yourself and take it for a test drive before the auction ends. Feel free to email/call me (Michael) at 734-717-3653 with specific questions and I will do my best to answer them. Auction Details & Payment Information: The vehicle is for sale locally as well so auction can end at any time. Bid with confidence as I have represented the vehicle well. There will be a $100 documentation fee added on to each vehicle sold. A $500 deposit is required within 24 hours of the auction ending via paypal. The remaining balance will need to be paid within 7 days of the end of the auction by Cash or Cashier's Check. If you need financing, please have that arranged BEFORE the auction ends. We are a licensed used vehicle dealer and must collect sales tax/title/plate fees so please contact me prior to the auction ending if you want to know what fees you will have to pay on top of the purchase price. Michigan residents will pay 6% sales tax, $15 title fee, and whatever your plate ends up being. For out of state buyers, each state is a different tax/title scenario. If this is a concern, please contact me before the auction ends and I will tell you exactly how much (if any) tax will be for your state. Any New eBay bidders or those with zero feedback, please send us a message or give me call to confirm your contact information or your bid will be canceled. Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping. We will work with your shipper to help them in any way we can. We are located in Southeast Michigan in the Metro Detroit area. We can pick up from Detroit Metro Airport or Detroit Amtrak station for free. Vehicle is available for local viewing just contact me to set an appointment! Thanks. Michael @ 734-717-3653. Contact Information: Feel free to call or text me any time at 734-717-3653. The vehicle is located in Eastpointe, MI. Please call ahead for an appointment to view. High Resolution Pictures: |

Why the Detroit Three should merge their engine operations
Tue, Dec 22 2015GM and FCA should consider a smaller merger that could still save them billions of dollars, and maybe lure Ford into the deal. Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne would love to see his company merge with General Motors. But GM's board of directors essentially told him to go pound sand. So now what? The boardroom battle started when Mr. Marchionne published a study called Confessions of a Capital Junkie. In it, Sergio detailed the amount of capital the auto industry wastes every year with duplicate investments. And he documented how other industries provide superior returns. He's right, of course. Other industries earn much better returns on their invested capital. And there's a danger that one day the investors will turn their backs on the auto industry and look to other business sectors where they can make more money. But even with powerful arguments Marchionne couldn't convince GM to take over FCA. And while that fight may now be over, GM and FCA should consider a smaller merger that could still save them billions of dollars, and maybe lure Ford into the deal. No doubt this suggestion will send purists into convulsions, but so be it. The Detroit Three should seriously consider merging their powertrain operations, even though that's a sacrilege in an industry that still considers the engine the "heart" of the car. These automakers have built up considerable brand equity in some of their engines. But the vast majority of American car buyers could not tell you what kind of engine they have under the hood. More importantly, most car buyers really don't care what kind of engine or transmission they have as long as it's reliable, durable, and efficient. Combining that production would give the Detroit Three the kind of scale that no one else could match. There are exceptions, of course. Hardcore enthusiasts care deeply about the powertrains in their cars. So do most diesel, plug-in, and hybrid owners. But all of them account for maybe 15 percent of the car-buying public. So that means about 85 percent of car buyers don't care where their engine and transmission came from, just as they don't know or care who supplied the steel, who made the headlamps, or who delivered the seats on a just-in-time basis. It's immaterial to them. And that presents the automakers with an opportunity to achieve a staggering level of manufacturing scale. In the NAFTA market alone, GM, Ford, and FCA will build nearly nine million engines and nine million transmissions this year.
Ford celebrates 1 millionth Mustang built at Flat Rock
Thu, 18 Apr 2013Yesterday, the Ford Mustang turned 49 years old, and Ford didn't miss the opportunity to celebrate the one millionth version of the Mustang rolling off the assembly line at the Flat Rock Assembly plant. Production of the Mustang at Flat Rock coincided with the fifth-generation design launching in 2004, and the one millionth car was the car shown above, a 2014 GT convertible painted in Ruby Red.
In total, Ford has sold more than 8.5 million Mustangs since the original car went on sale, but some of the key milestones over the car's nine years at Flat Rock include the Shelby GT-H, Bullitt, Boss 302 and, of course, the 662-horsepower Shelby GT500. Scroll down for a press release celebrating Flat Rock's milestone Mustang.
Porsche 911 Turbo and Nissan GT-R Nismo star in World's Greatest Drag Race 4
Fri, 26 Sep 2014We love Motor Trend's annual World's Greatest Drag Race video. Now back for its fourth appearance, the idea of lining some of the world's fastest cars up for a ten-wide, straight-line, full-throttle run is, well... it's pretty freaking badass.
The lineup this year boasts some impressively fast cars to be sure. The group of ten includes the following darlings: Alfa Romeo 4C, BMW i8, BMW M4, Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, Ford Fiesta ST, Jaguar F-Type R Coupe, Nissan GT-R Nismo, Porsche 911 Turbo S, Subaru WRX STI and, last but not least, the Volkswagen GTI. Give us any one of those for the weekend, and we're happy to take the keys.
It must be said though, that for a publication that draws as much water as Motor Trend does, there are some big cars that we might expect to be here instead. The Lamborghini Huracán or Ferrari 458 Speciale would have added some exotic flare to the list, and the omissions of the Chevy Corvette Stingray (for the second year in a row) and the Dodge Challenger Hellcat are real head-scratchers.
