Up for auction is my Ford Ranger custom truck. The truck has been a project for a few years and now is mostly finished. The only things left is the emergency brake cables and ac lines if desiring ac.
This is a 1987 ford ranger ext cab 2wd. That has been converted to a 302 and 5t manual transmission. For the motor it is a rebuilt roller 302 bored .030 with a summit rebuild kit. I installed hyperutectic pistons for more durability. Also has arp bolts in the bottom end. The heads are e7 castings with crane roller rockers. The intake is from a explorer with a 65mm throttle body and 75mm mass air meter. I installed lots  of new parts when doing the engine. Water pump power steering lines, air filter, o2 sensors, starter and solenoid. The transmission is a mustang v8 t5 with a custom hydraulic conversion. I used a hd cobra clutch and short throw shifter.
For the fuel system a used all new components fuel tank, straps, sender, lines and mustang 255lph pump.
The Exhaust is a set of tri y for a mustang with 2 1/2 alluminized pipe and a set of flowmasters. Could use some tailpipes little loud in the cab.
The paint is summit hot rod black single stage. All seals and lights where replaced at the time it was reassembled.
The windshield was replaced also. In the interior i replaced the carpet and headliner with black. The rest is the factory blue.
The wheels are mustang cobra replicas wide in the rear. The tires are like new 315/35/17 rear, 235/45/17 front.
I Just replaced the stock rear end with a good used 7.5 posi with 3.73 gears and installed new bearings, seals and fresh fluid.
I'm sure i have missed lots of thing this is a nice fun toy. But looking to fund the next project.

Ford Mustang EcoBoost has fake engine soundtrack

Wed, 24 Sep 2014

The 2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost represents a huge change for the Blue Oval as the first pony car in decades to be available with a four-cylinder engine. But a recent tweet (below) from Road & Track raised our curiosity about the new vehicle. Editor Jason Cammisa pulled a fuse while driving the latest 'Stang with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, and he found that both the stereo and engine went quiet in the cabin. That indicated the coupe might have some form of artificial engine sound being piped in - a feature not previously heavily reported for the model. Autoblog spoke with Ford engineer Shawn Carney who confirmed that only the turbocharged four-cylinder Mustang comes with this system, called Active Noise Control.

2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Mon, 01 Apr 2013

Your Mileage May Vary
As difficult as it is to write this, I was actually excited about the 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid. With the beautiful looks of the newest midsize fighter from Ford and a fuel economy estimate capable of shaming even the stalwart Camry Hybrid, the battery-augmented four-door seemed like a recipe for unabashed success. But appearances love nothing more than swapping our boundless enthusiasm for cold platters of disappointment. The 2013 Fusion Hybrid gets hobbled right out of the gate with a lofty price tag, and real-world driving keeps the sedan from even approaching those EPA figures.
With so many excellent midsize hybrids on the market, is there any reason to consider the newest Fusion Hybrid? Are sharp aesthetics, a well-executed interior and capable driving dynamics enough to overcome the machine's shortfalls? Not from where I'm standing.

Jay Leno is far beyond driven in his 1971 Pantera

Mon, 23 Jun 2014

Perhaps it's fitting that the band Pantera is known for its heavy metal music, because the DeTomaso Pantera is the automotive equivalent of a metal album. It's short, aggressive and makes a mean sound. It doesn't mess around either, with a Ford 351-cubic-inch (5.75-liter) V8 sending mountains of torque to the rear wheels. This week, Jay Leno takes us on a detailed tour of his '71 to show why it rocks.
There's a regular format to Jay Leno's Garage. It starts with Jay and maybe a guest taking a look at the car and talking about its history, and then they take it out on the open road. However, this video is practically a Pantera buyer's guide. Jay is adamant from the start that the last thing anyone should own is a stock example. To remedy this, he and his guest, the editor of the Pantera Club magazine, take viewers to school about some of the ways to turn them into even better performance machines.
No matter what you do to it, though, the Pantera requires that the driver adapt to it, not the other way around. For example, Jay isn't a big guy by most standards, but he has to cram himself into the cockpit with his shoes off and shirt partially unbuttoned just to go for a drive. Still, once out on the road, it all makes sense with that rumbling V8 and those Italian supercar looks. Scroll down to watch and learn a lot more about this uncompromising '70s performance car.
