For Sale 1972 Ford Ranchero GT clone(this was not originally a GT but the significant parts from a GT were used, Hood, Cluster w full gauges,Sway bars,Posi rear end,Quick ratio steering box etc) There has been a lot of money spent on upgrading this ride . It has a fresh 351 windsor motor built by Rex Hutchison Racing Engines of Sacramento, with under 5000 total miles on it.

The motor was built for our drag car with all the good stuff, Dart II heads ,isky cam, solid lifters, roller rockers,Eagle rods, forged pistons, Edelbrock intake, 830  CFM Holly carb, Mallory Unilite distributer.chrome and billet dress up items

The C6 Trans is fresh as well, it has a reverse valve body Trans King trans brake, 5500 rpm stall converter by Specrite and rachet shifter

The rear end is fresh as well .it's a 9 inch of course with a posi and 4.11 richmond gears

Inside there's Autometer Gauges, Ratchet shifter in custom aluminum housing, buckets, tilt etc

Outside there's custom dupont paint with red black and burnished silver flames(ignore the dirty hood in the close up of the flames). it was painted about 8 years ago and although it has been used as a shop truck and daily driver it still looks good (some nicks and scratches etc but a great 30 footer)still turns heads every time out. There is rust thru in the floor but it's been that way for years and doesn't really affect the car but the pans should be done to make it right

The centerline rims are in good shape as are the Firestone tires.

This is a great looking really fast driver or could be raced.(the little coupe the motor was built for ran high 10's but was destroyed in a accident)

Automakers' rush on aluminum may result in shortage

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

Aluminum is the new buzzword in the automotive industry. The latest Range Rover and Range Rover Sport both take advantage of the lightweight material to shave huge amounts of body fat (only it's called "aluminium" over there). Audi and Jaguar have been using the stuff for years in their A8 and XJ, respectively, and now, aluminum is going mainstream, arriving on the 2015 Ford F-150.
While we're excited to see aluminum make an impact outside the premium market, its widespread adoption apparently won't come without some problems, notably in terms of supply. "There isn't an automotive manufacturer that makes vehicles in North America that we're not talking to," Tom Boney, of Novelis, the largest global supplier of aluminum sheetmetal, told The Detroit News.
According to Boney, Ford's use of aluminum on such a large scale has forced auto manufacturers in "every boardroom" to reconsider their plans following the F-150's unveiling, for one simple reason: there's not exactly enough aluminum to go around, at least in the short term. The auto industry presently only accounts for six percent of the aluminum sheet produced, but as the material is adopted by more and more brands, that figure is expected to swell to 25 percent within the next six years.

Amid Mulally rumors, Bill Ford praises company's deep bench

Wed, 02 Oct 2013

Bill Ford went on the offensive to combat the rumors that CEO Alan Mulally would leave Dearborn for Steve Ballmer's vacated position leading Microsoft, adding that even if the 68-year-old, former Boeing exec were to depart, the Ford executive team is in a good place.
"I'm happy [Mulally] is going to stick around. But we also feel really good about where we are in terms of succession," Ford told Bloomberg TV, according to Automotive News. Rumors first cropped up about Mulally leaving Ford when AllThingsD speculated that he was in the running, early last month. In that same report, which you can read here, Ford's board of directors reportedly okayed the CEO stepping down ahead of his planned retirement in 2014.
That opened the floodgates, culminating in a report from a few days ago that the rumors over Ballmer's successor just might be true. The story is especially troubling, as Ford hasn't had Mulally under contract, according to AN. "He's here as long as he and I would like it to happen," Ford said, "We're also cognizant of training the next generation and getting them ready to go as well."

Ken Block ain't got a care about ruining his wheels

Tue, 22 Jan 2013

During a drifting session at Irwindale Speedway in California, Ken Block made a boo-boo that would send a number of drivers immediately back to the infield. But there's an answer to "What do you do when you bash the wall while drifting and your wheel explodes?" and there's completely different answer when the question begins with the phrase, "When you're Ken Block..."
Instead of us telling you how Block handled the calamity in his Ford Fiesta competition car, you can watch it happen in the video below. You can probably also guess what it is - but it's more fun to watch.
