1969 Ranchero with the very rare Rio Grande Package . I believe less then 900 were built . The Door VIN tag was unique with the Rio Grande Package as it has a 6 digit DSO and exterior color is blank as thay were painted in one of three colors with black out hood and lower rocker area . Also the tag reads Special Performance Vehicle reguardless of engine option . This car was built with the 351 Windsor 4 barrel motor , automatic trans,power steering and power disc brakes. Delivered to district (72) San Jose California new . If not for signs of rust under the vinyl top this would be a rust free car . The car has not been undercoated ,no hidden surprises ,the underneath of this car is clean and straight, I took one picture of the underneath to give you an idea . I think the car was restored once back in the early 1990's , now show it's age with a dent in the tailgate and a few minor issues elsewhere . ZERO rust in any of the lower body panels to deal with , Just the roof issue I mentioned earlier . I have only driven it local as I left it registered non op . The engine sound good and I see no leaks , trans shifts , brakes and steering OK but I hear a differential noise on deaccelleration that will need to be addressed . Other then that you could use this car as is or restore and have a VERY RARE Ranchero . I don't think there are many left and many people don't even know they made one. Ford to announce Mulally retirement, Fields CEO as early as May 1
Mon, 21 Apr 2014Ford CEO Alan Mulally may be about to announce his long-rumored retirement from the Blue Oval, according to a pair of insiders who spoke to Bloomberg. An official statement on the succession could arrive as soon as May 1. Chief Operating Officer Mark Fields is rumored to step up as the new CEO. The company is said to be readying the announcement soon to ensure an orderly transition of power, according to the insiders.
Mulally's retirement from Ford has been a hot topic for a while. He was seriously rumored last year to be leaving the automaker to take over as the CEO of Microsoft. The board even said at one point that it was okay with them if he stepped down early. However, the CEO maintained he would stay with the business through at least the end of 2014. Fields has been rumored as a frontrunner to take over the top spot at the company since he was promoted to COO.
For the moment, Ford isn't officially confirming any of these plans. "We don't comment on speculation. We do have succession plans in place for our key leadership. We take succession planning very seriously," said Susan Krusel, Ford Global News Manager, to Autoblog.
Ken Block and friends race light in silly-beautiful Castrol commercial
Wed, 28 May 2014How does one make fast, loud, drifting cars better? Well, you can add more fast, loud, drifting cars or you can add lasers. Either or, really. In this case, Castrol did the right thing and added both, creating a highly stylized commercial for its Edge Titanium motor oil starring South African racer Adrian Zaugg, BMW factory driver Augusto Farfus, Audi DTM and Le Mans staple Mike Rockenfeller and some bloke named Ken Block.
Their cars? No surprise, but Block is in his Ford Fiesta GRC, while Zaugg samples a Lamborghini Aventador and Farfus and Rockenfeller drive along party lines, with a BMW M4 and an Audi R8, respectively. And those cars look good, too, thanks to the creative light and laser work on display.
