This auction is for a cool old school Ford Ranchero. A California car, this Ranchero is powered by a Ford small block V8 and an auto trans. Its got 5 lug hubs with a very nice set of American Racing Torque Thrust wheels with good tires. The body is very straight and looks great in nice red paint. All the glass is good, the bumpers are straight with great chrome. A nice set of Hooker headers are installed with a new side exhaust system. Under the hood is very clean and there are chrome valve covers and air cleaner(with K&N filter) to contrast with the Ford blue paint and satin black engine bay. The interior looks old school cool with black upholstery, nice white dash, clear instruments, a neat chrome tach, GT wheel and a swinging Hula Girl. The brakes and steering are good and many suspension bushings are fresh. The underside looks very clean and there is no rust that I can find. This neat little Ranchero shows very well and would be a perfect support vehicle for a vintage cacklefest, a speed shop parts runner or just a cool surf wagon or Cars and Coffee cruiser. Its pretty rare to find vintage Ranchero like this that hasn't been rusted away of beaten into the ground. The Ranchero runs and drives, although it was in storage for a while so I'd recommend a full service and check over before returning to regular duty. Any negatives?  Not many, some minor scratches, dings and scuffs here and there, a split in the bucket seat, a few minor pieces of trim missing(may turn up and will be included if located), aftermarket ratchet shifter needs a cosmetic cover, etc. Pretty minor stuff. Very easy to get this neat Ford to the next level.  Sold  "as is" of course.
I took this California Ranchero in trade and am offering it up at no reserve-don't miss this one.

Who sold the most heavy-duty pickups in 2012? PickupTrucks.com investigates

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Domestic manufacturers enjoyed a good year for heavy-duty pickup sales in 2012. PickupTrucks.com has taken a close look at exactly how those sales broke down between each manufacturer and between three-quarter and one-ton pickups. Ford sold some 67,786 F-250 Super Duty models last year with the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD falling just behind at 56,359 units. The Ram 2500 HD came in third at 41,918, while the GMC Sierra 2500 HD earned itself fourth place with 27,616 deliveries. While Ford held onto the top spot in the one-ton market, Ram easily nailed down second place by selling more 3500 HD models last year than General Motors sold Silverado 3500 HD and Sierra 3500 HD trucks combined.
So, did GM manage to sell more trucks than Ford with its two brands? Very nearly. Ford sold a total of 119,338 heavy-duty pickups to GM's 111,555. Ram, meanwhile, moved a distant 77,583. But perhaps more interesting is the diesel take rate in this segment. PickupTrucks.com says 80 percent of all domestic one-ton trucks roll from the dealer lot with a turbo-diesel under the hood. Head over to the site for a closer look at the breakdown.

Toyota sells six of 10 of hybrids in California

Wed, 31 Jul 2013

In an apparent shot back at Ford's increasing market share of electrified vehicles and claim that it accepts more Prius trade-ins for its own hybrids than any other car, Toyota has flexed a muscle and played the numbers game to put the Blue Oval in its place.
Leaning on its hybrid market dominance in California, the Japanese automaker stated that six out of 10 hybrids sold in the Golden State are Toyota models. And it keeps coming: Year-to-date through May 2013, Toyota sold five times more hybrids than Ford. One of every two hybrids in California is a Prius model. In addition, Toyota notes that it has sold 1.5 million Prius vehicles in the US, 90-percent of which are still on the road today.

Ford cleans up painting process with cameras

Thu, 22 Aug 2013

Knowing how the bacon gets made rarely entices us and, in the same vein, the same usually goes for knowing about how new cars get painted. But in both instances, however, quality - or a lack thereof - is instantly obvious. In terms of the latter, Ford is showing off its new paint quality process with 3D Dirt Detection Technology to find imperfections in vehicle paint more easily and more quickly.
This process - being performed on the F-150 SVT Raptor above - uses 16 computer-controlled cameras to create a three-dimensional model (inset) of the vehicle to detect flaws in the paint including dirt particles, which can then be buffed out manually. Ford says this new technology cuts down on time spent looking for paint flaws and gives workers more time to correct those that are discovered.
Currently, Ford only uses its 3D Dirt Detection Technology system at three factories (the Dearborn, MI facility, along with those in Louisville, Kentucky and Valencia, Spain), but it will soon spread to five more plants in North America. Ford has released a video and press release for this innovative and unexpectedly interesting process, both of which are posted below.
