Driving this BEAST

The Ranchero is blisteringly fast and I can say I do not have the guts to stay on the gas for very long – frankly, it’s scary fast.

It handles well with the suspension mods, considering the geometry is stock. The brakes keep up with the added power and are not boosted because I like heavy braking and steering in a heavy, powerful car like this. It has definitely turned a few heads at autocross events!

I would be 100% confident to get in this car and drive it anywhere today and would feel the same about seeing off the new buyer on a great road trip home.

Other

Registered in Pennsylvania as antique to keep the insurance rates very low; clear title in my name.

About the sale:

I’m selling my Ranchero because I fell for (and bought) a 34 Ford pickup and have been, since that time, bitten by the traditional hot rod bug.

We can seal the deal with a $500 non-refundable PayPal deposit within 24 hours of auction close; the balance of payment will be due within 7 days after auction close. I will accept a wire transfer, cashier's check or cash; no money orders, please. To avoid paying a large PayPal service charge, I’ll only accept the deposit amount through PayPal.

Over the years, I’ve been totally satisfied, both as a buyer and seller, with Intercity Lines (http://www.intercitylines.com) and I’ll certainly make myself available for your shipper or you to get the car. If you win the auction and decide to fly to Philly to drive the Ranchero home, please call me and maybe I can pick you up at the Philly airport.

I’ll be happy to send you the title by FedEx on the day after your payment clears my bank (I’m giving myself a day in case I get jammed up at work and I can’t get to the FedEx box in time).

Any bidder with significant negative feedback or less than 5 total feedback ratings should contact me by phone to prevent his bid from being rejected. Thank you.

The Ranchero must be picked up by August 15th.

Happy bidding!

Ford Focus Electric gets $6,000 price drop, now starts at $29,995

Mon, Oct 20 2014

In early 2013, the Nissan Leaf shed a massive $6,500 from its $35,200 base price to offer a new starting price of $28,800. Since then, we have seen numerous other plug-in vehicles get smaller price tags, from the Honda Fit EV (lower lease price) to the Chevrolet Volt (around $5,000 lower) to the Mitsubishi i (a $6,130 drop). Last year, Ford lowered the $39,200 price of the Focus Electric by around $4,000, but that hasn't been enough to get the Ford EV to really compete, saleswise, with other plug-in vehicles on the market. But wait, as they say, there's more. This past weekend, Ford lopped another $6,000 from the price of both the 2014 model year Focus EVs currently on dealer lots as well as the redesigned 2015 models that are now rolling out (they're basically the same car, minus some appearance changes). Ford spokesman Aaron Miller confirmed to AutoblogGreen that the Focus EV will now start at $29,995 and said that reducing the price should make the Blue Oval's only pure EV competitive. "We hope by reducing the price we're giving consumers another reason to consider it," he said. Through the end of September 2014, Ford has sold just 1,534 Focus EVs in the US (the model sold 1,335 in the first nine months of 2013). For comparison's sake, the Nissan Leaf starts at $29,010 and sells around 3,000 units a month in the US. Miller notes that the Focus EV has been selling the best on the West Coast, and is also doing well on the East Coast. After that, he said Atlanta and the Great Lakes area also see decent sales of model's admittedly small pie. We can only assume that offering the EV for under $30,000 will make that pie somewhat bigger.

2014 Ford Fusion order guide reveals new base Hybrid model, equipment changes

Tue, 23 Apr 2013

We've gotten our grubby little digits on the dealer order guide for the as-yet-unreleased 2014 Ford Fusion thanks to an anonymous tipster, and while there isn't much that's unexpected, there are some meaningful equipment changes to report after the rakish sedan's first year on the market.
Mechanically, the big news is, of course, the recently confirmed availability of the 1.5-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder paired with a six-speed automatic. The powertrain replaces the 1.6-liter automatic setup of 2013, though if you want a manual transmission, you'll still get the extra .1-liter of displacement.
On the equipment front, there are newly available rear inflatable seatbelts - as seen previously on the Explorer - along with a new heated steering wheel and cooled seat option on Titanium and Titanium Hybrid models (the latter two options will be late availability).

Driving the Lincoln Aviator and flogging Abarths at Laguna Seca | Autoblog Podcast #593

Fri, Aug 30 2019

In this week's Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by West Coast Editor James Riswick and Associate Editor Joel Stocksdale. To begin, Greg takes a moment to remember the fastest woman on four wheels and former host of Autoblog's "The List," Jessi Combs, who died this week. Then our editors turn their attention to the cars they've been driving, including the Lincoln Aviator, Ford Ranger and Nissan Frontier, as well as Joel's recent stint in the Fiat 500 Abarth and Fiat 124 Spider Abarth, including track time at Laguna Seca. Finally, they turn their attention to a listener in Germany who is looking to replace an aging Volkswagen Eos with a newer convertible in this week's "Spend My Money" segment.
