When the original owner of this 1963 Ranchero died, the family left it parked in the garage for several years.  A man that was handicapped knew of the car and finally bought it when the family decided to sell the car.  He moved it out of that garage and kept it in a garage where he lived.  He could never obtain a driver license because of his handicap, but would go out and sit in the car and just start it and listen to the radio.  The best I can figure, the car was garaged kept for over 25 years.  The gentleman finally was told he had to move the car out of the garage and so it was moved out in the open and covered up with a blue tarp for about 3 years.  The guardian of the gentleman finally got the man to agree to sell it so got it registered and running.  I saw the Ranchero and bought it in 2004 before it was even advertised.

It was a original 170 Cu In with a 3spd and bench seat. I located original Ranchero bucket seats and Mag wheels in a barn. I found the louvered hood in the Bay area on another 63 Ranchero, which I bought.  When I got there, I found that it had another set of the same hard to find wheels.  (The owner and restorer of the 63 Falcon Cayuse wanted to buy both sets from me)  Before putting the hood on, with the help of friend/metal man, I formed a “scoop” out of metal and hammer welded it in.

I have replaced the engine with a warmed up late model 200 with Aussie 2V head (Aussie heads are very rare now, even in Australia), bored, cam, header, Holley 2bbl, turned electronic ignition, MSD 6a box, master blaster coil, and a rebuilt Borg Warner T-10.  The engine has approx 2,000 miles on it.

The rest of the body is exactly how I found it except for the gas cap which has been moved to the inside of the bed and the new hood.  The red rag is to excite the CHP. The dashboard has the original radio.

I just finished rebuilding the entire front end, new springs, a-arms, idler arm, etc, putting in the Mustang steering box, the Flaming River steering column, new dash insert and gauges, and rewired the car.  I have a Scarebird 4 lug disc brake conversion which is complete but not installed.  I wanted to keep the 4 lug pattern because of the wheels and their scarcity.  The car is rust free. It is titled in California.  I have 90% of all receipts for parts and work done on the car.

The car comes with many extra parts, such as a perfect tailgate, another grille, two stock hoods, and many other parts to numerous to mention.

If anyone is interested or needs more information or pictures, send me your phone number and or email address.  I will answer any and all questions and take any pictures desired.   The car is located in Auberry, CA.  Buyer to pick up or ship at his expense.  Cash only except for deposit thru Pay Pal

Watch how Ken Block spent his weekend in Barbados

Thu, 22 May 2014

Regardless of what you think of his skill as a racer, Ken Block is an expert showman. At this point, he has a career of showing up around the world to do vehicular stunts, and he's still able to go racing as well. It's a pretty sweet niche to carve out. Recently, Block was in Barbados to participate in Top Gear Live and the first event of the Global Rallycross Championship season, and Ford Racing produced a short video to show off his exploits.
It looked like a great show. Block got to race Lewis Hamilton in a Mercedes-Benz Formula One car and had a very weird crash during a Rallycross race that put his Ford Fiesta on its roof. Top Gear also released an extended look at Block and Hamilton's spectacle with the two of them expertly sliding around. Scroll down to watch the videos and get a taste of Block's tropical racing adventure.

Ford fixing 130k vehicles in three recalls

Wed, Oct 28 2015

Ford is issuing three new safety campaigns that cover a total of 130,801 vehicles in North America, but the company has no reports of accidents, injuries, or fires from any of these issues. The largest of these campaigns covers 128,823 examples of the 2009-2010 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX that are currently registered or originally sold in rust-prone areas of North America, including 110,636 in the US. On these crossovers, "corrosion under the reinforcement brackets where the fuel tank is mounted" can potentially result in a fuel leak. To fix the issue, dealers will inspect the tank and will repair or replace it as necessary. The affected locations are: Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin; and the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, and Quebec. Ford is also recalling 1,906 North American examples of the 2016 Mustang, including 1,900 in the US, because of possible damage to some components during shipping to the factory. On the affected pony cars, "dealers will replace front and rear seat belt assemblies, rear seat buckle assemblies, and child tethers," the company says in its statement. Finally, the smallest campaign is for 72 units of the 2016 Ford E-Series cutaway and chassis cab in North America, including 65 in the US. On these, the trailer brakes don't activate when pressing the brake pedal, and dealers need to update the powertrain control module software. Radical RXC is a Mustang-hearted racecar for the road

Fri, May 30 2014

Radical has been building fantastic open-cockpit racers and roadcars for years, for the track day enthusiast who wants a vehicle that looks like it could show up for a start at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The company's latest creation is the RXC, and while this coupe looks like a prototype racer, it's road legal in the UK and in some parts of the US. When testing a car this, um, radical, the first thought is likely to get it to the track for some big slides and wide open acceleration, but XCar Films takes the opposite approach in its latest video to learn how this racer fares on public roads. The version tested here is the standard RXC with the 3.7-liter V6 out of the Ford Mustang tuned to 350 horsepower with a seven-speed sequential gearbox; but Radical also offers the same engine with 380-hp, a 454-hp Ford EcoBoost 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, or even a 500-hp V8. Even in the most basic guise, it's a handful to control in the wet, if this video is any indication. The cliche of a road-legal racecar is bandied around a lot in the motoring world, but it truly applies to the RXC. The only problem with seeing the RXC exclusively on the road is that it can never really open up and show its full potential. This racer is indeed chomping at the bit to rocket off into the horizon, but all those pesky road safety laws hold it back. Still, the video is a chance to get a better impression about this thoroughbred sports car. Scroll down to check it out. This content is hosted by a third party.
