1961 Ford Ranchero - Daily Driver on 2040-cars
Garden Grove, California, United States
For Sale, a very nice 1961 Ford Ranchero with 200 straight 6 engine.
This little truck is ready for the road. The engine was rebuilt when we
got this truck for our son in 1999. Has low mileage on the engine. When
the engine was rebuilt the odometer was at approx. 41,000 miles and it
is now at 50,978. A little less than 10,000 miles on the engine. I have
the Pink in hand.
Our son drove it for a year and a half, then got a 1966 Mustang Fastback, so the truck went into storage in 2003. May 2013 we brought it out of storage and had it completely checked out. The miles on the rebuild consisted of him driving back and forth to high school for about a year and a half and me driving around town for the last year. The body is straight and the floors sound. When we brought it back the engine was complete checked and seals replaced, brakes completely replaced, radiator pressure tested, gas tank cleaned and re-coated, new carpet and seat reupholstered, new starter and electric ignition put in. Carburetor was replaced and much more. The paint is in pretty good shape and would not need immediate painting. I have all the receipts for work done on this truck. We have receipts for all the work we have had done on this truck. Floor is sound, floor has not been cut and replaced. It has a new radio (retro shaped) that fit right into the space. The radio has a auxiliary jack so you can connect your MP3 player or phone. Oh yeah, it has 3 on the tree. We have receipts for all work done on this truck since we purchased it in 1999. If you live in the Orange County/Los Angeles County area and would like a closer look, please contact me and we can make arrangements for that. Thank you for your interest. List of items replaced when brought out of storage. Starter and Starter Solenoid Radio Newly upholstered Seat New Carpet Strut bushings Carburetor Gas Tank cleaned and resealed Replaced seals and gaskets Water Pump Thermostat Transmount Motor Mount. Gas Tank sending unit Clutch fork Turned Fly Wheel This work was done when we brought the truck out of storage, where it had been in a garage and covered for 10 years. It is a sweet ride. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me before bidding. If you want additional pictures please ask. The vehicle is 99% rust free. There are a couple of small areas where the cab meets the bed and along the lower edge of the tailgate, where all these vehicles tend to get rust. If I was going to keep this vehicle I would have the bed and tail gate sprayed with rhino skin. I am selling it because my knees don't like the shifting anymore and in Southern California, there is a lot of shifting to drive the streets here. If you live in the Orange County/Los Angeles area and would like to look it over please contact me and we will make arrangements for that. Thank you for your interest. |

Ford to rebrand SVT as 999?
Mon, 22 Sep 2014Ford operates a number of performance divisions around the world. There's SVT in the US, Team RS in Europe and Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) in Australia. But the Blue Oval has been steadily integrating its performance operations into one unit, and here we might have our first indication of what it will be called.
A reader at Jalopnik sent in a survey in which respondents were asked to gauge the name for a new performance brand from a "major automotive manufacturer," and while the identity of that automaker was not disclosed, according to the survey, the automaker is considering the name 999 for its new go-fast unit.
As our compatriots point out, the 999 was Ford's first racecar, a rudimentary chassis with a 19-liter inline-four campaigned by Henry Ford around the turn of the 20th century. (Ford also used the number to designate a Fusion fuel-cell racer a few years back.) That could prove the tie-in Dearborn is looking for in rebranding its performance operations worldwide, replacing the letters SVT, RS and FPV globally under one name.
Ring Brothers shows 1965-66 Mustang fastback carbon fiber body
Thu, 07 Nov 2013We covered one of Ring Brothers' more extreme SEMA builds yesterday, the De Tomaso Pantera-based ADRNLN, but if that well-executed but over-the-top Italian-American exotic is too much for you, then perhaps this Ring Brothers 1965 Ford Mustang fastback with a carbon-fiber body suits your tastes better.
What the performance-parts manufacturer is showcasing with the Mustang is the carbon-fiber body itself, which is fashioned around the 1965-66 fastback. It can be bought from the company and bonded to the skin and unibody as a do-it-yourself project, or you can take your Mustang to Ring Brothers and have the body installed there. The fenders, doors and quarter panels are two-inches wider than stock, and Ring Brothers offers a custom widebody chassis to those who want the complete package.
The show car looks sharp in person lowered on HRE wheels, and we appreciate the bare front end so we can see the supercharged V8 and front coilover suspension, though the details on those performance upgrades are slim. Also note the custom independent rear suspension setup at the rear.
Ford bringing production F-150 to Detroit with Atlas styling and Alcoa blast shields
Fri, 27 Dec 2013According to a report in Bloomberg, the 2015 Ford F-150 will indeed be showing up at the Detroit Auto Show next month. It will bring attitude with it, not only in the form of sheetmetal inspired by the Atlas concept (pictured) that appeared at the 2013 Detroit show but also in the Alcoa military blast shields among the display being used to showcase the ruggedness of aluminum.
There's been a lot of talk about the F-150 switching to aluminum body panels (although maintaining a steel frame), and for good reason. The lightweight body is expected to shed more than 700 pounds and greatly increase its highway mileage, but production-line issues and possible delays have been a major focus of attention concerning the best-selling vehicle in America for 32 years, meaning Ford has to get it right. F-150 is responsible for a massive portion of the company's global profits and it will come in a year when company profits are already predicted to decline because of new car launches.
When it comes to dings, the Bloomberg story says Ford wants Alcoa to supply some of the military-grade aluminum it uses for blast shields on battlefield vehicles to help it talk up the toughness of aluminum. Reading commentary on the many stories about the F-150 reveals there are many more little questions about the aluminum overhaul, like "How much will it cost to repair and insure?" and "How will companies hang their magnetic signs?" Answers should start coming in a couple of weeks.
