This auction is for a 1957 Ford Ranchero. It belongs to a friend of mine who asked me to list it for him. To begin with the prior owner who built the car was a exceptional engineer who was a master at craftsmanship and restoring cars. A few years ago he passed away and the current owner was a good friend of his. He ended up acquiring the Ranchero and has been going to all the car shows and events with it. It could be used as a daily driver as it goes that good. This vehicle was featured in the 2003 June issue of Super Rod Magazine. There are 5 pages dedicated to the history of this truck. It would take me too long to write everything about it but if you give a call I would be more than happy to go over it with you. Just to give some inside information the running gear is a stock Mercury 390 V-8 4 BBL with a Richmond 5 Speed Manual Transmission and a 9 inch Ford Rear. It cruises nicely but has the power to boot. Has Power Steering, Four Wheel Disc Brakes, Power Windows, Power Door Poppers, Flow Master Dual Exhaust, Ice Cold Air Conditioning, AM/FM Stereo, Beautiful Tan Naugahide Interior, Louvered Hood, Torque Thrust Wheels, Tubular Grille, Hard Tonneau Cover and more. Roof has a 2 inch chop, has sunken antenna, sliced openings by the tail light housings to give marker light impressions, 56 Ford outer rear wheel wells to accomodate bigger tires, 58 Ford Headlights remanned into the 57 fenders and a beautiful hugger orange paint job. You can just imagine all the time and money it took to do this car. It started out as a California car so it was nice and solid to begin with. Believe me this vehicle turns heads where ever it goes! Really need to see this truck in person to appreciate it. First time ever offered on Ebay. We have a clear maine registration and proper transfer paper work. Please check out my other auctions for a 40 ford tudor, 57 chevy wagon,49 olds coupe ,30 model a sedan and a 49 ford pu. . Subaru Legacy pitted against Roadkill project cars
Fri, 05 Sep 2014There's an evergreen debate among auto enthusiasts about whether they would prefer to have the latest and greatest car of today or a certified classic from yesteryear. What if you had to further define that, though, and the choice was between a brand new 2015 Subaru Legacy or a turbocharged Datsun 240Z with a hatch that wouldn't close? Roadkill aimed to find out that and more in one of its best videos to date.
According to the hosts, Subaru came to them, handed over some money and challenged Roadkill's project cars against its latest Legacy. The result is every bit as good (or better) than any automotive-themed show you could find on television.
Things start simple with a figure-eight race in a rodeo arena with the Subaru taking on Roadkill's 1968 Ford Ranchero, originally built for ice racing. From there the Legacy races a 1968 Dodge Charger with no windows around and off-road rally stage. Finally, the Subie goes head-to-head against the Rotsun, the aforementioned turbocharged 240Z, through an abandoned neighborhood. Plus, there's a bonus drag race challenging them all.
Car technology I'm thankful and unthankful for
Mon, Nov 27 2017The past few years have seen a surge of tech features in new vehicles — everything from cloud-based content to semi-autonomous driving. While some of it makes the driving experience better, not all tech is useful or well thought out. Automakers who are adept at drivetrains, ride quality and in-cabin comforts often fail at infotainment interfaces and connectivity. From testing dozens of vehicles each year and in the spirit of gratitude, here are three car tech features I'm thankful — and a trio I could live without. Thanks Connected search: This seems like a no-brainer since everyone already has it on their smartphones, but not all automakers include it in the dashboard and as part of their nav systems. The best ones, such as Toyota Entune, leverage a driver's connected device to search for a range of services and don't charge a subscription or require a separate data plan for the car. I also like how systems like Chrysler Uconnect use Yelp or other apps to find everything from coffee to gas stations and allow searching via voice recognition. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto: It took two of the largest tech companies to get in-dash infotainment right. While they have their disadvantages (you're forced to use Apple Maps with CarPlay, for example), the two smartphone-integration platforms make it easier and safer to use their respective native apps for phoning, messaging, music and more behind the wheel by transferring a familiar UI to the dashboard — with no subscription required. Heated seats and steering wheels: I really appreciate these simple but pleasant features come wintertime. It's easy to get spoiled by bun-warmers on frosty mornings and using a heated steering wheel to warm the cold hands. I recently tested a 2018 Mercedes-Benz E400 Coupe that also had heated armrest that added to a cozy luxury experience. Bonus points for brands like Buick that allow setting seat heaters to turn on when the engine is remotely started. No thanks Automaker infotainment systems: Automakers have probably poured millions into creating their own infotainment systems, with the result largely being frustration on the part of most car owners. And Apple CarPlay and Android Auto coming along to make them obsolete. While some automaker systems, such as Toyota Entune and FCA's Uconnect, are easy and intuitive to use, it seems that high-end systems (I'm looking at you BMW iDrive and Mercedes-Benz COMAND) are the most difficult.
These cars are headed to the Great Crusher In The Sky
Fri, 24 Aug 2012It happens every year. We bid adieu to some cars and trucks that will be missed, and say good riddance to others wondering how they stayed around so long. Whether they're being killed off for slow sales or due to a new product coming along to replace them, the list of vehicles being discontinued after 2012 is surprisingly long and diverse.
CNN Money has compiled a list of departing vehicles, to which we've added a few more of our own. In the slow sales column, cars like the Lexus HS 250h, Mercedes-Benz R-Class and the full Maybach lineup appear, while the Ford Escape Hybrid, Mazda CX-7 and Hyundai Veracruz are all having their gaps filled with more modern and more fuel-efficient alternatives. Obvious exceptions to the rule include models that still sell in decent numbers like the Jeep Liberty and the Chrysler Town & Country (which will eventually be replaced by a crossover-like vehicle).
Check out our gallery of discontinued cars above, then scroll down for more information.
